no1DdC But do you get the point trying to be made? The French are genius yes, but you have to admit, the French have some fucking bonkers ideas that nobody in their right mind would copy.
Pretty much everyone copied the monocoque construction and front wheel drive setup that the Citroen Traction Avant debuted with. Also the Citroen DS headlights that turns with the searing was copied on other high end cars.
I had a nasty accident, riding pillion, on a wooden go-kart with pivot steering in the mid 80s. We were too old to be riding on such things by 1985, but we did it anyway. We were going really fast down a hill, when the steering suddenly turned 90° and it catapulted us both into the air. Cuts, bruises & and concussion followed. And mud - lots of mud. Pivot steering is lethal!
I use a garden wagon in my yard for moving stuff like firewood. After 2 uses I threw out the one that has pivot steering because it's awful even at that speed
So what you're telling me is, even tho I've had a DUI and have no licence.... I can drive this?! I'd need more than a few beers to cope with being seen in this 😂
All I know that is to me, that looks like its of fun, open up your plastic doors WATCH OUT HERE I COME *YOU SPIN ME RIGHT ROUND BABY RIGHT ROUND LIKE A SEAB BABY RIGHT ROUND ROUND ROUND*
I have a swisher ride king lawn mower that is a fwd tricycle and the way the gear box is set up the motor sits in between your legs with a pulley on the top that aligns to the top of a 90 degree gearbox with a chain drive to the wheel that allows the front wheel to turn 360 degrees around, essentially making it the worlds first zero turn (1959). I think it is so cool the French made a car so similar to this
Alfred Munkenbeck a cx being too normal? in my opinions the cx is the most special citroen ever made. In my opinion the sm is not as citroen as the cx because it doesnt even have a citroen engine
Well, given that Citroen owned Maserati at the time, you can kinda say they do. The cx is lovely though, really special inside. I have a 2cv, wish I could afford a few more Citroens
A few of those laying around the factory complex I formerly worked at would have really been a boon for productivity. Could have maneuvered around the odd collection of buildings and could park them in the little unused crannies.
At first glance I thought that thing was amphibious. I see now that it's not, but with the name "Flipper", and the shape of it's body, it had me going for a minute.
This actually reminds me of a tricycle-gear tractor. Having it front-wheel-drive is the novelty. This setup makes a lot of sense for a three-wheeler design, too. Maybe more little city cars like this will pop up?
A while back I saw a UA-cam video with a blue san permis vehicle that was a three-wheeler and the front wheel could turn sideways and it could just about spin around within its own length. The Flipper is a much more extreme version of that idea, though. I’d like to have one but I bet they’re really rare in the US.
Ah yes, I'm that 7 year old with 30 DUI's and mostly blind.
Ah, well I'm afraid the French have tightened up the rules since then. Now you have to be 14. (I'm joking, bit it is actually true)
You could see before the 30 DUIs
I want Jason to drive every single car in that building.
It was either Tom or Ray Magliozzi (Car Talk guys) that said, "The French don't copy anyone and nobody copies the French." This is a prime example.

@@Sohave many manufacturers also copied the hydropneumatic suspension

liverush2
And fun.
As a Gen-Xer, I am a firm believer in risky fun.
DrFruikenstein I used to be. I'm a bit more risk averse these days.
I use a garden wagon in my yard for moving stuff like firewood. After 2 uses I threw out the one that has pivot steering because it's awful even at that speed
At some point this show is just going to be called "Today at the Lane museum"
Not that I'm complaining.
I really wanna go see this museum, looks like there's a lot of interesting cars
Y4123 it's in nashville
Y4123 I went because of these videos. I was there WAY longer than I planned!
IT'S BEAUTIFUL
You didn't say anything about the body looking like a hull of a boat. I thought you were going to tell us this thing is actually amphibious.
You are living my dream!
nice. take a look at the green saab at 2:39 in one of your next videos plz...
So what you're telling me is, even tho I've had a DUI and have no licence.... I can drive this?! I'd need more than a few beers to cope with being seen in this 😂
You also have to be at least 14, do an 8-hour training course and have insurance. The bar is not set high :-)
All I know that is to me, that looks like its of fun, open up your plastic doors WATCH OUT HERE I COME
*YOU SPIN ME RIGHT ROUND BABY RIGHT ROUND LIKE A SEAB BABY RIGHT ROUND ROUND ROUND*
Did it come with a mower attachment?
That thing turns tighter than any of my lawn equipment.
Two speeds forward two speeds backwards.... terrifyingly awesome
Honestly, with the shape of the bottom of the car, and a name like flipper, I thought you were going to say it was amphibious.
Same here, and that it included a wooden paddle, or some nonsense.
I think the name flipper just means it flips over easily
This made me smile. :D
Seeing a new Jason Drives video in your feed is just the best...
Dude, please drive everything in this museum. Half of the time of this video I'm just staring at amazing other cars (mostly Saabs...)!
love that museum in Nashville Tennessee, been there many times!
But can you flip the Flipper?
At least four Saabs in that museum and you wanted to drive
...that thing.
Tommi Nummelin Vive la C900!
Screw the SEAB. I'll take the Saab please!
If Jason drove the Saab I would have changed channels.
Such a good interpretation the funny car of oceans 11 haha that whole bit
The weirdness doesn’t stop!
We need Weird Al and sardine Sandwiches pronto!!!
you better be driving that citroen cx soon
Jason drives is a unique show in that Citroens are just a little too normal to be featured. But I hope he does too.
Alfred Munkenbeck a cx being too normal? in my opinions the cx is the most special citroen ever made. In my opinion the sm is not as citroen as the cx because it doesnt even have a citroen engine

Alfred Munkenbeck personally i own a bx break turbodiesel and a cx gti ph1. And i kinda forgot the cx used to be powered by 3 renault engines
OMG! Do the Saabs next!!!
Can't... Stop... Looking... At... All... The... Saabs... 🇸🇪😍
Some nice Saabs in the background!
If saab and seat ever had a child, it would not be the seab
A few of those laying around the factory complex I formerly worked at would have really been a boon for productivity. Could have maneuvered around the odd collection of buildings and could park them in the little unused crannies.
Lane Motor Museam! Love that place! They've got some amazing Honda's!
Beautiful!
Amazing analogy on how the steering feels haha made sense
when you design a car
like a fun center
bumper boat
2:55
>that Saab 900 is a bit more my speed...
2:12 That face you made when Cars 3 and the Incredibles 2 were announced!
Such an underrated channel
At first glance I thought that thing was amphibious. I see now that it's not, but with the name "Flipper", and the shape of it's body, it had me going for a minute.
Only the French could design and build something like this. It manages to be both brilliant and terrible at the same time.
what about the canoe with wheels @ 4:11?
Okay, I think we have finally found a vehicle that makes a Trabant look like a luxury car!
I think I saw an Ursaab in the background, you should drive that. Edit: My mistake, it is a Saab 92 but t would still be cool if you drove it.
Vehicular ideas like this have been replaced by electric skateboards and "hover boards" and things of that nature today.
Well, that escalated quickly...
Those are probably safer honestly.
This actually reminds me of a tricycle-gear tractor. Having it front-wheel-drive is the novelty. This setup makes a lot of sense for a three-wheeler design, too. Maybe more little city cars like this will pop up?
check out a Swisher Big-Mow/Ride King lawn mower. they work the same way. they are a hoot. like mowing with a bumper car >D
omg this is insane haha. great video:)
A while back I saw a UA-cam video with a blue san permis vehicle that was a three-wheeler and the front wheel could turn sideways and it could just about spin around within its own length. The Flipper is a much more extreme version of that idea, though. I’d like to have one but I bet they’re really rare in the US.
Damn Jason almost ripped the door off, at the end. Take it easy man.
Please drive every other car in that museum! :D
Excellent engineering..
It's a bumper car.
Was the body also used in an amphibious car? The body style and company name SCREAM 'Cheap 80s boat'
Was there a Stout Scarab? Can you drive it? Pretty pleas with sugar on top. And cherry.
I love it
A roided out gopher under the hood. Lmao.
I would definitely get one of these over a M3 GTR..nah.. still a fun little machine though!
I love how half the comments are about the Saabs in the background.
My people 💜
I almost expected you to tell us it is amphibious looking at its “hull.”
It's *Jason Bourne* !
It drives just like a bumper car with that steering
I love the french
aaaannnnnddd subscribed
How many of you thought that post it note was a lcd screen?
Does it float?
This thing looks awesome. Can you take it to a drag strip and race it? 0-60 in never?
Hmm....at 1:03 there's a peel trident
Like the SAAB.s
Does it float???
Am I wrong to think that this is functionally the same as a bumper car?
Anyone else notice the Three-Wheeled Log Cabin parked in the background?
Ocean's 11 but with cars, I'd watch that.
To be fair have you seen French villages? This is about as big as a car can be and still be able to pass each other in a mediaeval road.
To me it looks like a reliant Robin and peel p50 amalgamation with 4 tires that has 360 degree turning
Seat + Saab = this machine
This would be a fun track car
The hell is that canoe/amphibious car? in 4:10
No, you're in a Johnny Cab.
This car is perfect for New York maybe also Los Angeles to but I definitely won't be on the Los Angeles freeway that can go very bad in a hurry.
Whare and how can I get one of these
The body looks like it could also double as some kind of dinghy.
Two words:
Turbo. 'Busa. Swap.
The thing In back at 4:00
What Museum?
Wow that’s genius
Looks like it would float.
I want this
So sweet little car.
Haaw 😄
haha does it float
am I the only one getting "Miniature AMC Pacer" vibes off of that thing?
Almost like a bumper car steering
I don't know if they were cool or just stupid, to trust Jason with this thing, in the showroom.
The ancestor of the ForTwo?
Peel p50 size- reliant robin body.
I want this car.
Someone should write to Pixar. This Cars Heist movie would be awesome.
I wish Jason Drives was on it's own channel....
just seen one of these for sale on ebay ,if only i had the money
It does vaguely look like a boat
A Bond Minicar can turn like that too
Why would you need to turn the wheel five times to make it reverse? Just turn it 180 degrees and you're there...?
I guess it has a 5:1 gearing in the steering collumn to act as "steering assist"...
Oops, for some reason I made the assumption that it was a direct connection.
Yea It would have to be geared or you'd flip it over giving it a quarter turn when your going haha I'd love to see that
Looks like it should be able to swim.
seriously I WANT IT! XD
Longer videos!
