I would love that skatepark
😅 that's fucked up. 😂
Bro, the way you casually flip out of manual is so sick. What do you think of symmetrical truck setups?
I had 1 good fakie flip. In a line. At a skatepark haha. I also had a fakie flip in a game of skate knock me out. I also remember having a good fakie flip and fakie ollie one day and loved flicking down on switch flips. Hahaha. And learnd fakie ollie late switch flip. Definitely hyped on that day or days really I think they were all good. Always a good time with the homies
Congrats on winning first round of BATB great game! You’re so consistent
Came back here to say this too! Awesome job!
Thanks so much!! 🤘🤘
I love Jonny, but he tried to go for the throat right off the bat and failed. Zach is a true Pro
such a good game!
Doeling is, hands down, the best on Powell.
Time for pro deck.
I want it.
Take my money.
Yup! Zach, any talks with the suits on this?
Congratulations on the round 1 battle. Beat 'em all with the fundamentals. I'm rooting for you.
So stoked for you Zach! Great game of skate !!
Looking forward to tomorrow's match-up against Giger.. pro fo sho
🙏
I'm stoked beyond belief. Two of my faves.
I've been out of the skate game for a year you telling me Zach is going against jonny!? Insane.
Good luck zach!
@@ZachDoelling congrats on the W..
Have you tried using a larger diameter top washer? It would bind against the truck before full turn and if you got the diameter correct you could have it binding just before wheelbite. You could then use whatever bushing hardness that felt good for the turn knowing that it would always stop before the wheelbite.
@ZachDoelling As someone who spent years trying different bushings I enjoyed watching these combinations! Eventually I found mine, it feels like it defies logic because of how stable I feel (on flip trick setups) yet how sharp I can turn plus never get wheelbite. My progress has gotten faster than ever since doing it. I eventually ended up with 94A durometer and cone shape for both bushings but there's so many factors, different truck brands, the rider's weight, etc. I do have a tip that applies to all, you can get bushings slightly too hard then apply curb wax on all the edges that touch the metal surface. Also, wax the knob of truck that touches the pivot cups. Now the trucks will turn more and never squeak, silent mode activated.
can't believe you did a flip bs tail flip out on that slappy curb and it was soo clean too!
if you're trying to have a turning truck that doesn't get wheelbase, you could use two top cones and use two of these bushing washers on the bottom of the bushing. this will make the truck turn until the hanger hits the washer before the wheel hits the board.I did that on my indys.
The truck you want is this: Thunder light on a Indy forged baseplate. Kingpin sawed/flexed of just a lil bit to have same geometry as Thunder kingpins. Feel like Thunders with a hair less wheelbase and just a little bit higher and still have baseplate slide and a better turn.
Great video. Always wondering about this stuff. Loose front and tighter back makes for direction when turning and stability at foundation. Would be interesting to ask others how they adjust truck tightness.
If you're looking to truly prevent wheelbite you can essentially take that short cone setup you have but put the washers on the baseplate side. The washers themselves will bind/hit the bottom of the hanger and stop the truck from turning further.
This is great because idk hohw much zach weighs, but i'm 243, so i need something pretty extreme just to get my setup to feel how ( i imagine) a normal persons setup works
Been a big fan of Riptide for years. I love using their wider bushing sizes at a slightly lower durometer - gives good playfulness while still being stable. And yeah, their pivot cup material makes turns so buttery.
So true bruh my truck issue has been so annoying and my turning has been so fucked... THANK YOU FOR SHOWING ME THESE! Ordered the second i saw the packaging. Keep up the skating as per usual, you rock Zach
Hell yea, let me know how it goes keep me updated
You look so much more relaxed now. Not the dead eye focus you had in Indp. Congrats bro. Amazing videos
There is a short list of dudes that im rooting for to get the W in this batb, Zach is one of the tops! I think the most gratification comes from his win, i would just absolutely love to see him get some much deserved recognition and love. Skills are just top notch 👌🤙
* I did not have a boney while watching this video and writing this comment...just FYI 🙄 yeewww
DIY wheel wells are the solution. I use dremel grinder and then I can skate low trucks with perfect medium tightness and no wheelbite. Takes me 20 minutes to grind those wells. No madness anymore.
i ride thunder trucks, indy hard cylindrical bushings with the washers. 6'3", 195lbs. good stability for pop and manuals, good turning. i have wheel bite marks on my board, but i dont ever wheel bite so idk. just what works for me. was on bones hards for a while but the washers kept bending/cracking
One hack for pivot cups.. I'm not sure which way you're going (stable or loosey).. but I used to take my pivot cup and add one 1" circle of rubber from an innertube for a bike tire.. and it would make a world of difference for control. It doesn't matter if you ride your truck kingpin loose or tight with this.. it keeps things really nice with this little hack.
2:01 That was some clean slight of hand
When you start going into the board madness wormhole always remember to replace your king pin and axel bolts with new ones when you take off the bolt your stripping the threads little by little and the tension from the bushings is enough to pop the nut right off of the king pin or axel threads
I dont like to mess with my trucks when i get them to where i want them i just leave them alone
Great advice
It was so hard watching you and Johnny duke it out at the berrics 😭I watch both of your videos 💔congrats tho
Dude, the Riptide stuff is 100% worth the money. I run the pivot cups on every board and generally run the bushings too.
why is this guy not yet fully sponsored ? Zach master
You should have a million subs dude, new favorite skater.
I'm glad you got to test out the riptides.I have some trucks with short cone/barrel 90a medium and I put a forged hollow Indy baseplate and a tensor mag hanger with an inverted kingpin and I get no wheel with great turning
Nice this set up sounds super legit
I think you could get the same stability with that boardside washer between the baseplate and bushing, and then your trucks would be smoother with the hanger directly on the bushings.
I can't comment on Berrics .. Berra a bit insecure.. but AMAZING
strategy at BOTB with the win against the French guy . EXCELLENT WORK
SIR.
Slappy session on fleek
Dude! Yes! Thank you! And thank you camera man for the close ups. This is definitely skate hack for tight truck skaters.
Hell yes!!
2 Bones Hard top bushings might work. Bones bushings are thicker/higher and might help with wheel-bite.
This session u are shredding fast ...Great vlog shredder. Good luck tomorrow 🙏🏻👍.I love shredding fast also
hey Zach, me, as a Freestyler, I have really hard trucks as well. maybe try the sure grip invader trucks. they are an old school truck with a geometry that doesn't let it turn, if there is a hard bushing in. maybe give them a try
Thank you for the suggestion!
So many variables on which bushing combinations are best for any individual...weight is a big one...height/center of gravity...etc.
Got some ventures yesterday because of you and now im a lifelong venture rider
They’re growing on me sometimes
i think you need Grindking's bushings to solve what you are looking for for your trucks setup.
Send a link!
I usually take a newer harder bushing and put it on the bottom then I would put a old one on the top or a softer one than the bottom
dude i can't believe you noseslide nollie flipped staples center hubba
Yo Zach, do you skate trucks the same width as your board? I'm skating 8" trucks on 8.25" board, and I heard this makes it harder to do crooked grinds
heads so f in big! no wonder he needs hard bushings. no one knew why until we got the close up.
Dude that close up shot was so funny
Ultimate game of skate Zack Doelling vs. Tom Asta! Make it happen captain 👨✈️
Super down, tell him!
That venice curb sesh was so long ago, I gotta wonder how many more times the trucks have changed until now lol
10:17 - they are called high trucks :^)
(I'm sure you have pop and fliptrick reasons for the low trucks, but I just gotta bust balls)
CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR WIN ZACH ON BATB AGAINST ONE OF THE TOP FLOOR TECH ST SKATERS GIGER today...your going places as a top pro soon ...👨🦲🛹👍🙏🏻
That Venice footy was krazy 😂 oh typed too quick never shoulda doubted you Zach!
Don't be afraid to mix and match those bushings to find what you're looking for a ride 93's on the bottom for a barrel and I ride a 90 on the top
Have you tried using like a hard one on top and a medium on bottom?
Never understood why I skate with my front truck more loose than my back one. But I’ve always done it. And don’t see that changing anytime soon.
Yeah same, idk what it is
You could sand wheel wells into the deck to reduce wheel bite...
Wenning always said hit em with the front shuv. Then hit em with the switch front shuv
tearing it up dude! I hope you have been well bro! positive vibes
Thank you, hope you been good too
Congratulations on the win at BATB 13.
I promise you, I have a very similar perspective on tightness of trucks. Good stuff. On another note, my vote is always on you my guy. Ill be rooting for you against Giger. Stay calm and focused as you always do. No matter what, you're the man 🤘🏻
I appreciate it, either way it’s a great thing to happen and I’m stoked
Let’s go Zach good shit with that BATB win you’re a beast, keep it up.
I've paid full price for every Riptide product I've bought and would still 4000% recommend them to any skater looking for a more naturally comfy truck.
Lokie. I never thought a pivit cup would matter. You?. That matters too. Like it felt too new. Not broken in yet. Peace.
Miyagi say: balance. Good luck tomorrow Zach
Its hard with low trucks to get no wheelbite. If you ride higher trucks you will get less wheelbite.
Maybe slappy trucks are worth to test out.
And on your venture lows.
Maybe you have to try a higher bottom bushings and a lower top bushing, than average.
I think you will get the stability you a searching for.
Cylinder bushings are much more stable, than conical bushings.
And i dont think its the best where you place the bottom washer.
Your bottom washer in the video are so bended, its not good for your straight turning at all.
You can try a flat bottom washer.
What do you think of trying this:
Normal bottom washer
Then 62d bottom cylinder
Then 97a top bushing conical.
Than washer.
I guess you try to find the sweetspot, where your trucks start to pinch, before they got wheelbite.
Otherwise you have to ask paul schmitt, he can help you for sure.
Have a nice day and greetings from germany.
This is pure gold! This video is like 6 months old but your ideas are solid and I’ve given plenty of them a go over that time. I’ll be in Germany next week, maybe see you out there 👊
@@ZachDoelling nice!
Did you solve your truck issue?
Where will you be in germany?
@@chrisXjosi always a work in progress. Fallen is attending the Wacken tour, not sure the details just yet
@@ZachDoelling nice, wish you guys a good time 🤘
Congrats on your win. Beating Johnny Giger is not easy
Really cool
Keep killing it Zach!
Try a harder bushing on the top and softer on the bottom
Top demais , você anda muito , parabéns!!!!
glad you beat the late back foot varial cringe flip guy, congrats.
Loose trucks save lives, and you be living on the edge!
so fuckin clean 16:19
Try the new old Indy’s they have plenty of swerve and you could try those bushing in those trucks or..the aces but thee suuuuhhhwerve!!
I liked the Ace I skated but they kept getting lose, maybe try Indy next
Good game battle at the berrics 🎉
Zach, I want your pro model flight deck right now...I'd buy it right away
I appreciate that!
Loved the vid, but I reckon that's a full on fisheye to watch the whole video. Quake pro baby.
Yeah it’s pretty fishy for sure
Have u ever tried slappy trucks zach maybe u should give it a shot
BRO !!! You beat Giger AWESOME !!!!!!
Genius strategy agains Jonny G! Congrats on the W!
Some people put
wax in ther pivot cups
Can u do a tutorial how to remove pivot cup ???
Needle nose pliers, or, use your hanger where your wheel would go, wedge it.
Try Venom bushings
Need some wheel well cut outs, then you can ride your trucks a little looser and not worry
That’s a great idea
Wax those pivot cups, even new ones!!!
Congrats on the BATB victory
Pumped for this game to come out❤
Fit matching the board good shit
Lucked out
Really good angles🎥📹📹
11:27 Im watching 🫡
Amazing informative video!! 🔥🔥🔥 & i love this lil park hope you go again 😂
Yeeeeeah
oh new zach video? i better click that like! 👍❤️🛹
My man
Probably the first skater ever to be worried about wheel bite with ventures lol
1:10 the angle tho lol
Literally the best thing ever filmed on this channel
yo looked SOLID v Giger
if you are worried about wheelbite, try riser pads. I run 1/8" so I can keep my trucks looser
Filmer going wild💪
🤘
I bought the deck package bro!
I have a design for a 100% recyclable complete with shock absorbing trucks that will take skating to the next level.💯
He need venture highs
Zach google image search "the head". also i have never liked the insta 360, gopro360 or however many 360's this is, sorry. maybe just for skating but the talking was hard to watch like this.
I could barely even ride your board, its like a stick!
We make it work haha
Killin it as always!
👊
Awesome video wow Hell yeah 🙂🤙
