- Second leg of a 30+ hour return flight from Sydney-Kingsford Smith to Paris-Charles de Gaulle via Taipei-Taoyuan. Flight AF 557. Landing at TPE Airport Terminal 2 - Gates D, China Airlines Business Class lounge. Air France Boeing 777-200ER Business Class cabin, taxi and take-off from runway 05R at TPE, 1h30 detour via the Hong-Kong route in order to “avoid” Mainland China, lunch, amenity kit, IFE, full flat bed, late afternoon snack, sun set, view of Paris in the dusk and the Eiffel Tower, approach and landing on runway 08R at CDG airport in Roissy.
Aircraft registration: F-GSPV. Seat 12A. (& 10A at takeoff). Flight on November 2nd, 2018.

Thank you for the video. Air France often receives a bad press here on UA-cam. I have never traveled with them, but this video certainly shows them in a positive light. The food looked delicious!
Thanks Daniel for watching. Indeed, there sometimes appears to be some AF-bashing dynamic on UA-cam. As far as I'm concerned - and at least since I make flight reports, I've only had good or even excellent experiences.
The dejeuner was beautifully executed, With all the restaurant equivalent style and presentation. The FA seemed very attentive and professional. Another exceptional report. Bravo.

Hello, I have commented before on previous videos you make and I do enjoy your reviews -- the music playing a good part. My only improvement I can make is to leave the subtitles a bit longer when they are on two lines... I had to rewind every time to read them in full. Oh, and I would have liked to see the Champagne list :) Other than that, it's better than watching TV! Thanks and fly safely :)

Next time you are in TPE you need to try the CI lounge in T1. T2 lounge is adequate but T1 lounge is amazing design with a cool noodle bar.
Thanks for letting me know. Not sure if I could have gone to Terminal 1 though. Any way, at 1:28, you'll see that there's a noodle bar in this lounge, too. Only at 6 a.m., after an 8,5hr flight with dinner and breakfast, I wasn't much in a mood for noodles ;-)

I really like how you reported on the trip. Concise information and none of that jabber jabber some of the other well known YT flight reporters do. I maybe would have liked to see the menu a bit longer. For a country that is home to the most prestigious cuisine in the world, the food and presentation looked distinctly uninspired. I think it is essential that the flagship airline of a country should mirror the country's cooking traditions on board. I am sure it all tasted adequate though.
Thanks for watching. Indeed, there certainly is some room for improvement concerning the tray/metal cover/metal sauce container on the plate/overall food presentation. But the food was fresh and tasty. Will try to show the menu a bit longer - and in English as suggested by an other viewer.
Hello, as you were filming, it was obvious that you had the best service. You paid to have this excellent comfort. I worked with AF, I can tell you that is tremendously different on the other side of the Company.
Personally, I love flying BRITISH AIRWAYS.

Suite à l'expérience absolument géniale que j'avais eue il y a 3 ans avec Singapore Airlines, je m'attendais moi aussi à ce que, sur mes quatre vols vers Sydney et retour, celui avec SQ allait largement dépasser tous les autres. Et bien non; les quatre vols avaient leurs qualités comme leurs petites 'déceptions' mais Air France offrait deux fois une prestation d'une très grande, voire excellente, qualité.
Hello Pit.I see you had a great time in this flight my friend.I wish I could say that and for their economy class.It is really the day and the night.I flew with them from Panama city to Paris in a 772 of AF and it was a torture.The seats were awfully discomfort and the legroom dissapointing.I hope that they will have improvements in their new planes for all passengers.Cheers
The "problem" with AF is that they are capable of the best ... and the worst. I was lucky to have had very good to excellent experiences these last years. But I remember some bad ones as well - before I started making flight reviews that is :-) Thanks for your continuous interest, Yannis.

It's worth trying. Just make sure you have a flight aboard one of their B777's equipped with the seats as shown in the vid ;-)
@@PitSpielmann I saw this week that AF will be upgrading their a330 business seats to a new design.
True, and they appear to be quite nice but they'll have a 2-2-2 seating config (as opposed to 1-2-1 for the B777's)
The overall cabin design, materials and colors look great though.

Air France needs to get rid of those trays used in their business class meal service. They should instead place each item directly on the table like in a restaurant.
That's one of the remarks/suggestions I'd tell them, too. The ritual on Singapore Airlines or Austrian is so much nicer and really enhances the whole experience. In case you're interested, here are the respective flight reports:

I guess so. I initially expected to fly around Mainland China via Japan & Vladivostok but it appears that they (Air France? French government?) found this agreement with the Chinese to fly the Hong-Kong route instead ;-) Interesting experience anyway. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for watching, I'm glad you like it ;-) It’s the hippocampus that was the symbol of 1930 founded ‘Air Orient’ which operated flights to French Indochina (now Vietnam) and was one of the ‘airlines’ that, in 1933, fusioned into ‘Air France’. The hippocampus was chosen as a reference to the marine environment in which float planes then evolved, with wings symbolizing flight. In one way or another, it has been part of Air France’s visual identity ever since. Hence the sea horses in my vid's intro ;-)

Never asked for a second round of food. The bathroom was quite big actually, definitely bigger then the "standard" B777 ones in the middle of the plane. Finally, since AF have no mattress or cover to put on the seat, nobody needs to make a bed. Thanks for watching, by the way.
