Moving the stoves reminded me of the last time we moved and gave an extra refrigerator to a friend. My husband and I pushed it through our neighborhood on a dolly to their house and I giggling the whole way.
I remember pushing a piano several blocks down a street with my cousin that she got for free!
In our neck of the world it’s jerry-rigged and we’ve done plenty of it! We have seven kids, fifteen grandkids and their fur babies. Because we downsized to a two bedroom on acreage we’re building a pole barn for our gatherings. Works for us! I understand the pay as you go part. We learned the art of compromise and still get the look we wanted. Thanks for sharing your journey and ideas. Blessings.
Love the realness. Renovating our house in north of Sweden while raising young kids. Sitting in our office looking at old wallpaper and plywood walls in the new small room we built for the water system. Still have small stuff waiting to happen in the rooms we have done.
That’s a great, functional temporary kitchen setup. I absolutely love your four windows on the sink wall and the two stoves was a genius idea. The house is looking great!

I can't tell you guys how much i enjoy watching you guys live your ife. Bringing happyness to those that watch may not seem like a huge thing, but when I'm having a stressful day and put on one of yall's vids; for a few minutes all that goes away. While I am sure that your finished kitchen will be beautiful, you current set up is very organized and looks good. You travelled the country in a RV with many kids. It’s all a matter of perspective. Your current living situation is way more than the RV! Plus, you are enjoying and living life along the way, not putting everything on hold as if holding your breath for the entire renovation to be complete. We paid for our home as we built it also. We would never do it again! But, we have a very nice home and it’s completely paid off. You two are a joy to watch.
I can see the joy in your eyes, your body, your voice in how happy you are in the temporary situation. The ovens look amazing and Mike is fantastic and you are amazing for finding all these fines. Are you doing amazing job both of you are amazing with all your kids and sometimes you need to live in somewhere 1st to be able to know what your true you want but I cannot wait this and I love you
It looks great! I can’t believe you turned a carport into an open floor plan kitchen, dinning and living room! Nobody wants to be in a dark kitchen in the back of the home all day and night (kitchen work is non stop) 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
I enjoy your channel so much for many reasons, not the least being the relationship y’all have. (Megan and Mike) remodeling is so stressful and many marriages don’t fare well at all, but you guys are so supportive of each other and Megan, the way you thank Mike for all the work he does for your family is always so touching. I’m inspired to do the same with my husband. And Mike, the way you look at Megan, it’s so evident you would fo anything in your power to make her happy. I’m sure you have your challenges. Every marriage does. But you guys are such a great example of a healthy marriage. It seems rare these days.
Megan, you’ve basically created an Unfitted Kitchen, Modern Edition! I love how you’re figuring things out and making little decisions along the way that are both functional and special-for the space and your needs. Thanks for sharing the process with all of us! You all feel like family :). 🌸🧡
The everyday coping with life and meals and clothing and church and and and doesn’t necessarily make for scintillating or even watchable UA-cam , but it has to happen to keep body and soul together. And Everybody.Deserves.Praise and gratitude for that.
I'm glad you two don't feel discouraged because it really is coming along nicely! I lived through renovations of the old house that I grew up in and I don't remember how long things took I just remember the helping out and feeling "big" and all the silly mishaps still make me laugh and I'm 40!
I love how down to earth and grateful you both are for what you have right now. You're using what you have and making it work. The kitchen is cute and functional and it looks bigger-I love the over sink light fixture I think two more would look cute and when you said “PIE”oh I do remember the pies you made and shared with us and the Holidays are not that so far off we would love for Megan to do that again-cakes or casseroles or whatever you want(when and if you want too,but honestly I am so very happy for you guys that your cozy house is turning into your much loved and welcoming home-the two ovens looks so nice too and like they were made for that perfect spot Mike did such a great job,I know it’s a lot of sacrifices and time and expense but you are doing such a great job guys ❤🎉
Before you walked up to your makeshift plastic table/cabinets, I thought wow! That looks great! I love the black legs, the white countertop(looked marble) and the wood shelves. Looked very nice. And you love open shelving! Fooled me 😂❤
I am so blessed to have a “Mike” of my own. Unfortunately Jason has to work full time so our projects all take a lot longer. With that said, I feel truly blessed that I have a man with skills.

Pie crust suggestion.....Get a marble rolling board (or a scrap piece of marble) that you can put in the fridge or freezer to really chill it and help with pie crust rolling...

I started watching y’all at the end of 2018. You all and Traveling Roberts videos bring me peace and happiness. Because of you I realized I wasn’t happy with the traditional lifestyle and I have begun really trying to get into a position to become more happy and go with what I love.

The renovation videos have been so awesome! Definitely a favorite of mine.
Eighteen years ago we renovated our kitchen with two stoves like you did. We loved it and it worked great for a large family. We did the same thing with two fridges together rather than a very expensive subzero.
We save money on our kitchen appliances by buying 2 refrigerators and placing them side by side. It was wayyyyy cheaper than buying the big fridge and freezer. We also have 9 children.
And my 8&10 year old always ask if it’s time for September pies! We loved watching that!
I belong to a canning group and having two ranges like yours is quite common in the canning world!
Your home is Beautiful and you did it qirh your own hard work. So amazing ! Your such a power team. Amazing! So much work but so beautiful. So special and you should be so so very proud. Congratulations!!

Mike did a great job tiling above your stoves. My cousin is having a professional redo her kitchen. the tile job on the back splash was put in today and was done poorly. Tiles weren't centered, tiles were at different depths in one area. When you do it yourself, you take your time and do it right. Great idea with the two stoves, it looks good. I would still do two dish washers if you have the space, you won't regret it.
Megan,you are so lucky you have Mike& the boys to help with the woodwork& bathroom& floors etc. Are you getting excited? 😊

You all have done great so far. Megan, I love your hair with the curls. Loved watching the pie segment. Just move it to October but I could see you doing just a few pies in the kitchen you have now. I think that would be great too. Just be sure you too take some down time so you do not get burnt out on your remodeling. My husband and I build our house while living in it too so I know the stress it can bring.
I feel like in today’s world, people want bigger and bigger homes. We have a small home, 5 kids, a dog, and our home is well loved. I wouldn’t change it. I love everything you’ve done!

Love the light over the sink! You can buy globes that go over the light bulb. It would make it look even prettier 😮
We made an island out of cabinets. For the top we got a 10’ butcher block from Lowe’s. We cut it in half and put then side by side and fixed them together. It hangs over one side so we can sit at it. It’s essentially 5x5’. Works great. I would put a cabinet next to the stove to the left. Perfect for cookie sheets.
I love the temporary cabinets! So smart of adding the shelves! Put some contact paper for making the counter top more smooth! I don't like the texture of plastic tops either.

What a joy to watch you. You both remind me of my sister and her husband who slowly built their house from the ground up (and had 3 kids in the first years of what would eventually take 6 years to complete). You are both doing something much more meaningful than just renovating your house/home. Your children are watching and learning about what marriage and family are truly all about: hard work, perseverance, patience, hopeful planning, hard work, kindness & understanding, surprises, disappointments, patience, joys, faithfulness, hard work, perfection, imperfection... An idea for September pies if you still have the temporary kitchen. You could get an off cut of stone that's big enough to use to roll dough out on. Later it could be a fancy cheese board or something

I love the double stoves!!!! They make these pieces where you can join the stoves together to stop crumbs and stuff that fall in between the stoves - not sure if you were looking for that ❤
I love it all so much! I’ve so enjoyed watching the progress. I love that that one area kind of creates a little area to come into by the pantry …like a mini mud room … love the stove alcove. So excited to see it all come together …love the curtains …can’t wait to see them close up. Also I can’t wait for pie month!!! Loved that last year
Mike has done a great job with the renovation and is so handy witch is good everything will look so good when it’s finished and done it’s a process. But could be worse your whole kitchen could be in your living room like me because of the apartment above me had a leak in the sink and water got into my kitchen cabinets, drywall and flooring it’s a disaster zone.😂
Tell Mike before he does your master bathroom tiling that they sell little plastic levelers that work wonders! Also you were so smart to do 2 ranges. Recently our built in oven started going out. We had a built in oven and microwave and had a very large gas cook too. We had already purchased the white Cafe refrigerator and new dish washer so we went looking at their built in ovens and microwaves. Turns out Cafe’s built in wall ovens and microwave was a tad too wide for our cabinetry. So we decided to go with their free standing gas range. My husband removed the gas cook top and the cabinet below and the opening was 36”. A 36” gas Cafe white range was almost $7,000.00 with tax. Plus he had to rebuild the cabinets and purchase doors for where the oven and microwave were. Lots of work and money. You were sooo smart. And the sad thing appliances go out so much faster now days than they used too. Love your house. Especially your floors. You guys are doing such a good job!!!
For pies you could get a stone slate to rool out the piecrust on until you get the whole kitchen done :)

If you do have to make pies in the current kitchen you can buy scrap stone to roll your crusts out on. Good job guys making it work.
