    These major printer brands came up with these ink tank printers only because for several years prior many third party modders came up with this idea. They would attach several ink tanks (albeit a bit awkwardly) to the side of the printer and the heads would draw ink directly from those tanks. If it weren't for those modders we'd still be stuck with those ink cartridges that cost way too much. Whatever excuse the printer makers had back then to justify the price of ink cartridges, these ink tank printers PROVE that they've been feeding us a lot of BS all these years.

      Also known as a “CISS system.” Yes, the new scam is chipped maintenance cartridges. Technically, these waste ink pads should be easily user washable and replaceable, but software in Canon, Epson, HP, and other printers disable the device until the maintenance box is replaced with a new one and a fresh chip. Not to mention most printers’ irreplaceable printheads. The newer Canon G-series (3260, etc.) allow users to self-replace the printheads - 2 of them (black and color) that are around $30 each.

      There are proprietary use restrictions on most brands of cartridges these days, however. Canons are the sole survivor of the ciss revolution and it is better to set up your own Canon printer w/ciss or merely refill cartridges, or do a BCH mod, or insert Pop Carts and refill those, than buy an ink tank printer. The thing everyone is ignoring with ink jets is clogging. CLOGGING!! is the elephant in the room. You need a printhead that is easily accessible for cleaning with distilled water. The lids pop off those Cannon cartridges easily and they are easy to clean and re-use. Epsons ink tanks print heads are exceptionally hard to get to so I wouldn't buy one of those. This reviewer isn't even addressing this problem so this review is nearly worthless

    Good day, I just have a query about HP ink tank. What is the process of waste ink collection of this printer? Unlike Canon, Epson or Brother, they have a maintenance cartridge or waste ink box that collects the waste ink once they perform head cleaning. And what is the advantage of this to other brands? Thanks for the reply. More power

  • @davidisthis

    I think you explain a bit backwards. Do you really believe that Cartridge printers were used before tank printers? It doesn't have anything to do with the feedback. They created the cartridges to make more money. The fact the ink is so expensive was a great success, not a failure.

    When you walk in stores, most printers with high stock level left are HP printers but no one really buys them. All hoarders buy all epson or brother printers and sell them at very hefty prices online. None left in the stores. But no one hoards HP to sell at a higher price because no one wants HP printer. So problematic. Software is a crap. So is the hardware. For Canon, it is the most expensive of all four so not much on sale in-stores except for the lowest variant cheaper printers. Not much hoarding too for Canon in this case. I regret buying HP. So expensive yet quality is very poor.

Crappy customer service that doesn't have a toll free number, transfers to an Indian call center, and answers zero questions. Prints that won't align, difficulty getting proper borderless, a document feeder that never worked, a print head that died. WASTE of money. I have had two HP3525 multifunctional deskjet ink advantage printers. The first-the printer head was dead after under 200 A4 printed pages. The second, first died the scanner, maybe after 100 scans. I have replaced it with the scan assembly from the first dead printer. After max 700 A4 printed pages, died the head printer. One set of ink cartridges = 250 lei (Romanian currency). I have bought the printers with 450 lei each. So, my next printer will be not a HP one, maybe a Canon CISS one. I like the specifications of HP CISS printers, but I am not satisfied about their fiability.

    Not informative enough regarding long term performance. Ie the cheaper Epson Eco- tank printers are reputed to have an error code appear after so many printing cycles that advises printing stopped and not available because the waste ink pad is full and needs replacement but it only can be reset after replacement of the pad if the printer is returned to an Epson service centre.

      @@evandrinks I own an epson L360, after 2 years, cyan print head is broken, as well as black alignment has missing lines when printing, no matter how much print head deep cleaning I do, still the issue is persistent. They recommended me to have it replaced which is very costly. I used original inks only.
      I also know a lot of people who own epson l5190 and l3110 that already had their print heads replaced after 2-3 years of usage. And they told me it was very costly. Take note that original inks were used.
      Let me have my opinion. I guess no matter how much care you do, because you use it, eventually it will need replacing. Epson has built in print heads hence its print speed is faster and maybe image quality is maybe better than user-replaceable print heads, but thats the downside, the lifespan of the print head is undefined and will surely needs replacing.
      Print heads is considered to be as consumables. It is near impossible that print heads will never need replacement.
      On the other hand, It is advertised by canon pixma that their print heads is user replaceable and maintenance cartridge (waste ink pad) is also user replaceable, eliminating the need to bring the printer in service shops. I started to shift to canon pixma.
      With canon, I can store a lot of back-up print heads. At least when my print heads is broken, I can replace it myself in minutes, rather than having it in the service shop and being there stuck for hours, days, weeks or months then subsequently make my buy another printer because I have nothing to use.

      I bought the Costco version of the 9015 last summer or spring and have been very happy with it except for the ink cost. The good part is there are excellent aftermarket ink refill kits for them much cheaper and you just need two sets of cartridges to refill and keep swapping out. I liked it enough I found a used excellent condition 9025 to get the upgraded features and speed. It has dual paper trays and prints faster but uses the same cartridges as the 9015 and the same print heads. They can get expensive but they sure print nice right out of the box. I paid like 169 for the 9018, and the excellent used 9025 was 100 with local pickup, I got really lucky on that one and the ink was full.

    • @meitetsusai3787
      @meitetsusai3787 3 роки тому +1

      No, you never need to reset the absorber in all HP inkjet printers except the HP PageWides. But after you make a bulk printing-task there may be some waste ink below the printer and make contamination.

    No. Simple answer. Its very messy if something goes wrong, the scan and print quality is very average at best, printing speeds are from 15 years ago. Machines are pricey aswell.
    Better use something with auto refill cartridges.

    Spot on insight! PC Magazine gave this HP 651 Smart Tank Plus, a lesser rating than the Canon Prixma G7020 or the Epson ET4760. Even the Brother Inkvestment MFC-J6545DW got a better review.
    How would you compare the Canon Prixma G7020 vs Epson ET 4760 to the Brother Inkvestment MFC-J6545DW?
    A few days ago I purchased a Brother Inkvestment MFC-J6545DW and I am thinking of excanging it for a Canon Prixma G7020.
    Thanks for your insight.

    Is it true that remanufactured ink can damage the printers or is that just what hp want you to think

    • @FireAngelOfLondon
      @FireAngelOfLondon 3 роки тому

      In my experience the idea that third party inks damage the printer is a lie. However the original manufacturers' ink almost always does give better printed image quality, particularly for photos. Sometimes the difference is tiny, sometimes it is a big difference, depending upon the quality of the third party ink.

Now I have an HP and quality is very nice for this works, the problem with Epson is the way of alimentation paper, and HP has a very nice tray. I hope you can read my message in order to help me. The features on either printer aren't as good as the better office jets that have removable print heads. The Epson Ecotank printers generally have more features and the ink should be easier to find. Maybe they will have a version based on the 9010 and up printers and keep the advanced features like double sided everything and the better ink and print head setup.

    • @syberpunk
      @syberpunk 2 роки тому +3

      Canon’s G3260 is an inktank printer with removable and user-replaceable printheads. The black and color printheads cost only around $30 each.

    • @69Dartman
      @69Dartman 2 роки тому +1

      @@syberpunk Great, more manufacturers should have easily removable and replaceable print heads so you can fix it if you like it. The other option is heads built into the cartridge. My old hp 990 had that setup so if it started printing badly I'd just pull the cart and clean up the heads. As long as it had ink it would work again. When they ran out I'd pop the fill plugs and refill each color. I could usually get about 5 refills before the cart finally wore out and broke. You just can't find good carts OEM or rebuilt for it anymore.

    Now I'm so confused haha.
    I'm planning on replacing my HP Officejet 6700. Primarily we use it for family needs: printing and scanning documents.
    I rarely used it for printing my photos because the printer started to have problems and the quality was awful...
    I've seen the Epson ET-7700 which fits the family needs for documents and I would use to print few pics, but costs 520€...
    Then I've seen the HP Start Tank's 551 and 570 that are a lot cheaper: 240€ and 290€...
    But after this video I don't know what to do: if take a cheaper one for the family and saving for a photography oriented printer or take the epson...
    Thank you for the video!
