Today I am taking you on a book shopping spree all around Los Angeles to turn an old bedroom in my new house into a full fairytale library! So here is my new book collection and mini book tour "decorate with me" style vlog...

As a bookworm its so weird seeing someone buy books because they have lots of empty shelves... While I dont even know where to storage my books anymore cause I have so many books and only a few shelves 😂

(Mind you I have 2 floor to ceiling bookcases, and 3 HUMONGOUS drawers. The second bookcase has space at the bottom though.)

Honestly this vid breaks my heart a little since I have the same storage problem like you. And to see someone only looking for books to decorate... Idk I have very mixed feelings
You could set up a P.O. Box for us to send you books! Then can go through what your fans send, picking out what books you like the most and donate the rest. It would allow your fans to be a part of your house in some way, us support you even more, you get a lot of brooks for no money, donate the books you may not be interested in keeping and or give some of them to family members that might enjoy certain books. It would be a win win for everyone

Just a suggestion: for the books with spines that don't fit the aesthetic, you can open them up to a certain page that you like and put them on book stands. It'll also fill up some of the bookshelves faster!

If what you're interested in is the aesthetic of the books on shelves you can literally buy "books by the yard" or "books by the foot" and select a tone (red/green/etc) or binding (cloth bound/leather bound). Could lend a cohesive look without the legwork of selecting every single one. Aristocrats would do this back in the day to fill their enormous libraries.
The point is to have books you love, she wants it to be like the library in beauty and the beast! The library is a very important part of the story

You would know about different editions if you ever bought books in hardcover.
All the classics are available in thirty or more different editions.
They even had different style of letters in books from last century.
I can read it and I love those ancient books.
I’ve only watched a few of Amber Scholl’s videos and I can tell neither if she’s poor as a church mouse or rich beyond your wildest dreams nor if she’s dumb as a doorknob or a secret scholar but that just adds to her delightful and chaotic energy that I’m starting to adore

If you ever wanted matching sets of books I’d suggest some encyclopedias, sounds nerdy but allot of them have the same velvet you seem to like ☺️ and they generally take up a decent amount of shelf space!
Yes when I saw all in my library it was 2 long shelfs full so for her about 4 shelfs fulled!

I love that she bought her favorite children's books even when she has no kids yet.
I recommend going to thrift stores and looking for books there. Also, to fill more space, you can mix vertical stacking (like you have) with horizontal stacking. It’s going to look beautiful when it’s done!

Amber you can buy ""fake"" books to fill up the library. There's a lot of different style options, it's going to save you a lot of money. You can change them with real ones when you find interesting books, so you won't have to buy thousands at ones.

A little tip that I use for my own library, put some on their sides and stack two or three to take up more space. You can also add your trinkets in between your books. Love you so much and I am beyond excited for this!

Also, there are bulk book websites where they buy books for photoshoots and movies - I bet you could place an order at one of those places. There are also places where you can buy books by color to fit your decor.💜
You must get the penguin clothbound classics: ALL OF THEM.... you will absolutely love the covers, and the canterbury classics leather-bound ones.
Book recommendation: The Atlas of Beauty : Women of the World in 500 Portraits by Mihaela Noroc. It would fit right in with your collection! I have it too and it was a great purchase!

I am a shopaholic in general but BOOKS ARE MY KRYPTONITE. I have to get extra shelves every year to fit everything I buy because I lack self control and the funniest thing is that everyone in my family is like that. 😂
For cheaper options, I suggest you track down garage sales or literally anyone who is willing to get rid of their books for a very low price. Those people exist all over the world.
Btw, try arrange the books by author's last name, genre or color. Those organizing strategies are more satisfying and makes finding books easier.
As a bookworm, I wish the books were all read.
100% recommend looking at Barnes and Noble's classic section. Lots of Aesthetic book covers.
(Only the more popular ones like pride and prejudice, Frankenstein, Great Gatsby, Alice in Wonderland, etc. have these covers but most of them are pretty big so they can probably fill the shelves)
OMG I work at a public library so it was great to see that on your channel. Yes, you can buy stuff from the library and typically the money earned goes towards financing programs for the community. I like the idea of having the books open and displayed on every other shelf. Also, don't over pack the shelves. Having the books a little loose will help in making the shelves look fuller. Remember this is your home to build on so your book collection will grow through the years. I want my own library in my home like Beauty and the Beast as well. So cool!!!

Just a simple suggestion: how about adding a few scrolls? Like coffee dye some printer paper and then when their dry, you could either write cute little messages on them. Or just roll them up and use twine to tie them close, then just stack them in some of the open shelves. 🤓📜

Honestly, you read my mind amber!! That is one of my dreams is to have a big grand library. I am so jealous! One place that you would be able to find pretty, cheap and old books is on online auctions. I wanted to get these books from the 1800s but shipping would have been to expensive for me. But there are a lot of rare and nice decorative books that you can find in your local area that way.

I've never really been one for books, but when my Dad unexpectedly passed away, I went to his house after his funeral to gather some of his belongings and I walked out with pretty much his whole book collection (he loved to read) I now have them all on display in my living room. ♡ Unfortunately it seemed as though my Dad's partner wasn't interested in his belongings, so I also left with my Dad's DVD's which are with his books and the majority of his clothes - the things that money can't buy; especially when I found one of my Dad's hairs on one of his jumpers 💙

To make the aesthetic even more beautiful, try incorporating some antiques to the shelves, plants, trinkets and play with the angles of the books. Stack some up, leave some slanted, etc. It already looks like a fairytale setting ❤

@@bongus6405 I have a few different types of ocd and let me tell you, if I find a slanted picture hanging say, I must unslant the same amount the opposite direction and then level it. I’ve work toward eliminating the counter slant but I it’s best when everything is even, like amount of candies, steps, etc. last I checked I had 4/5 kinds, maybe even 5, I’m not in to categorizing myself or others and use the term loosely perhaps. To me, who has ocd, both you and especially the crooked ass books trigger it. Bad things will happen if things aren’t right, that’s just how it most of the time. I’ve tried to work to not thinking about the bad part and switching that to a nice and neutral things just have to be that way. Ugh this whole thing has now made me ultra aware of swallowing. Next time could you please not? It’s impolite what you said at best. Thanks, I hope you are well and never have to suffer in your own personal hell like some of us.

Hey amber! my dad used to own a library but it kinda went down and some of the books weren't accepted in the library of my city so we still have them, they are for sale but no one is interested and some of them really fit with your aesthetic, maybe you can check them out? ily

Also, you can get open book stands to display your favorite pages of a book.
A GOOD HACK: display your FAVORITE covers and take up more room by turning the book so that the front is facing out. Idk if that makes sense but it looks good!

I was never a fan of watching people decorate but I can watch you decorate until the day I die!
Um no. Theres steps that must be taken before achieving the dream library. First you must start with becoming a book nerd. Then you must begin slowly hemorrhaging out money over a period of, well your whole life, on books until it becomes a full blown addiction, then you must obsessively hoard your books like a dragon defending treasure. Then you move to the stacking phase where you've ran out of shelf space, room for more shelves and money for said shelves and thus begin accumulating books on every inch if counter space in your home. Then you must spend a stupid amount of money on a house strictly because there's space for a library. Then and ONLY then can you create the ultimate library. Then you spend the rest of your days rearranging your books because it's never quite right. You cant just skip to the end😭 suffer along with the rest of us.
For someone who is working extremely hard to de-clutter my space and my life this year ( literally just finished listening to the audio book “Decluttering at the Speed of Life”) , all those books and empty shelves give me anxiety 😂, but Amber is like my favorite UA-camr and I could watch her all day 😁❤️!

I am weeping at the thought of you buying books to DECORATE shelves and RANDOMLY putting them on the shelves. It’s like buying food to decorate your pantry with no intention of making a meal. You are so lucky to have such a beautiful room with built in shelves. Shelves are for storing books that you have read and want to read.

That’s a great idea to use shelves to display fancy books with the crystals, I would get something to sit in front of your dads book on the page you have open with the sweet note from your dad! Another thing that would be so cool is ( IF You had A P.O BOX and let any subscribers that want to can send you a book or 2 and you could gather books from all over the world and decide which ones you will use for your library?? Amber honey, to save money and time, you could DIY boxes to look like books, there are plenty of Pinterest pictures to get into, also thrift shops for cheaper, and obviously more shopping for you!!! Oh and magazines, I'm sure buying vogue issues would slowly fill it up and you can technically collect history!!! you could install wallpaper that looks like books in the empty shelves - sort of like trompe l'oeil, giving the appearance of a full library. then you could add to your collection gradually and choose books you love. goodwill and garage sales are good affordable spots to find books! i also like the store called Thrift Books, they are online! and i have to say i admire those illustrators too but my favourite is John R Neill who illustrated the Oz books by L Frank Baum!
for the shelves you can also leave one empty in between each one and just put some beautiful trinkets like glass or gold to give it more of that french/ artsy vibe 😁 or even small printed photos of your favorite artists
The last bookstore is like my dreamstore but I donot have to go that far coz I kinda have those stores in Kolkata, college street the vintage shops 😍
One thing you could do is make diy book (hidden storage) boxes. That way you don't have to spent a mint just to fill up the library
