Small correction: you can recalibrate the timemore scale. Keep the timer bitton pressed and tap the power button a few times during startup to go into calibration mode. You'll need a 20g 100g 500g 1kg 2kg reference weight.
Realy sold me on the black mirror! - will need it for pour over so form factor not an issue and the timer is perfect - especially the auto mode. Having a fixed weight in a drawer to check calibration from time to time should do ok as it is mainly to get ratios right so small drift will not change the ratio just the total amount. But good presentation of both.
Excellent review. I've been using $12 Weightman with my Synchronica. I don't use the flow control feature because it's like using the sink. Just pours water all over. Would not buy it with that feature again.
I just ordered the Lunar. Great review. I am not sure how it would work with 2 cups. It would have been nice to see. I know there is an optional wide plate for the lunar but being optional and expensive I am hoping I don’t need the plate.
Good point, it is very small so if I was pulling a double I would just measure 1 cup and assume the other had the same amount of coffee. So if I did 18g of coffee then I would want 18g in the cup and I would assume 18g is in the other cup. Maybe that would work?
You can put the cup on the lunar scale. Turn it on and it will be at zero. I hate auto tare. When pulling a shot you want to know the weight along with the time.
Thank you you’ve been so helpful. I ended up buying the same grinder , machine and scale as you lol Your reviews are in depth and informative for the normal everyday consumer. Keep it up
Thanks for the clear and informative video! I also have a Synchronika, and was looking at these two scales - this has helped me to decide on the Acaia. Now to find one of the 2021 models available for sale in the UK!
After 8 months the Acaia Lunar has worked perfectly, holds a charge for a month or two with regular use, and the size is perfect. I love my scale and I hope your works just as well :)
I'm debating whether to buy ECM Technika V PID or Synchronika. Do any of you guys know what the disadvantage of heat exchanger is in comparison to dual boiler? They both have PID. But can the heat exchanger hold perfect temperature during the length of the shot?
@@marwaalsuwaidi3993 I bought the Synchronika and I'm very happy with it. I was also considering the Lelit Bianca 3 for the smaller size I couldn't find a store that ships to Greenland. I pretty fast got used to the big size of Synchronika. Now I can't wait to upgrade my Niche Zero with the Niche Duo - a 83mm flat burr version of Zero
@@UA-camr-ku4nk Great choice! I bought Synchronika a week ago which was my dream for more than 2 years & couldn’t be more happier. Wanted to pair it with Niche Zero but due to availability/price coz there is no real distributor & a number of friends’ recommendation (who used Niche & then shifted to Eureka), I’ve paired it with Eureka Oro Mignon Single Dose. Price-wise & the look! Couldn’t be more happier too
Watched several videos on the Acaia Lunar, and comparisons with the Black Mirror and your video was by far the most helpful and in-depth. Thank you.
Just so you know. If you flip the rubber mats the ports filter sits perfectly. Even on the lunar which is smaller. It’s designed that way.
Just a heads up, you can actually recalibrate the timemore black mirror :-)

Thanks, glad to help. I still have my Lunar and I love it, mostly the small size is very helpful, and it looks cool!

The timemore is so cheap its worth just keeping as a spare or one that you don't have to move to the machine. So fills a secondary roll just as well.
