  • After two months on the road we figured it was time to give a full tour of our home! Also wanted to show the difference in campers between the FWC and my Dad's NuCamp Cirrus 920 truck camper.
    Hope you enjoy and we'd love to know your thoughts!

    The new 920 looks awesome, that would be my choice today. Any camper that lets you roam is great though.

    As a full timer I must be as comfortable as possible and so having the essentials is a must for me. Sooo, IMHO the Cirrus wins.

      We agree for full timing! The cirrus lineup is awesome, just outside of our budget

    Our situation sits in between your two campers shown here. I've got my fingers crossed for NuCamp to score the home run with their 720 that will be reentering the lineup soon. Enjoyed the beautiful Colorado scenery and your camper comparisons too.

    Hello!!! I am waiting for my FWC Shell (Mar23) and my initial usage was for long weekends and possibly 2-3 week trips. As I watch you guys use your camper, I have updated my plans so I can go full time in it or go longer than 2 weeks. I have a Toyota Tundra double cab and I will be taking the rear seat out for extra storage. I also like the fact that you can get into smaller trails vs a regular truck camper. I was actually lookin at the smaller version of your Dad’s Truck camper that has a U shaped dinette and a wet-bath, but the height and weight were a big concern. I will utilize an awning however, and possibly an add a room that attaches to the awning for my basic setup (weather dependent). Thanks for the awesome channel and continued safe travels!!!

      Hi Darryl, that is awesome to hear! I feel the FWC is a great option for 1-2 week trips and longer occasionally. We do wish we had an awning on the side too as I think it would get a lot of use especially in the summertime. Hope the camper is finished soon and wishing you safe travels!

    Hey guys, great video as always.
    Last year, Karal and I traded our 24 foot hard side for a Palomino HS8801 that weighs about 2600 lbs. , Sitting in the back of a Ford F-250. We traded because we want to camp off grid . We found some great places out off some old logging roads up here in Maine.
    And we can also haul our Side by side. The only cons for us is the lack of storage and the small black water tank. We do use the back seat area. Pulling out the seat helped.

      Hi Eric, that’s awesome and congrats on the new setup! We’re looking to upgrade to a hard side at some point since we’re committed to this lifestyle for the time being. Definitely have their pros for full time living. We’re hoping to get up to Maine sometime in the fall to see some of the color!

    Your dads camper would be my choice hands down........a bathroom/shower gets my vote every time!!!

    Great video thanks for sharing , I love the cirrus family . I went with a 620 because I didn't want to have to keep bending down for the entry door and deal with the pop up in bad weather wind rain and bears , plus it fits perfect on my Ram 1500. I think for you two, you made a great choice ( I have a few years on you two) Thanks again and as always stay safe and healthy.

      Thanks Mark! The cirrus lineup is a great TC option. We find that a hard side may be more appealing for full time living but the cirrus is a little outside of our price range

    Sticking to the Intermountain states it’s probably not so bad, but spend any time east of Denver in the summertime and the lack of air-conditioning would be brutal in that Four Wheel unit. I have a converted cargo trailer toyhauler and A/C is pretty much required here in WI

    • @LivingLargeCamping
      @LivingLargeCamping  2 роки тому +1

      I agree, there are some weather limitations with the FWC and we're starting to feel those more and more. We used to have a converted cargo trailer and loved that setup too!

    Take a look at NuCamp's Cirrus 620 it is smaller, and more nimble, but has many features like the bigger models...

      The 620 is a great camper! A little outside our budget at the time but always love seeing them on the road

    One big con I see in the Nucamp Cirrus (@11:45) is the poorly designed dining area. There is a boxy protrusion (Alde System ?) underneath the table that takes up at least 50% of the leg room, foot room area, only allowing 2 people to sit there. We sometimes camp with another couple and will play cards, eat dinner, etc at the same table. This setup would not allow that. There simply isn't room. Poor design and a deal-breaker for us. Everything else looks very nice, though.

      Hi Chris, I agree with the dinette comment. When seating 4 it felt a little tight in the corners. I feel a full U shaped dinette would be more comfortable!

    I love how your dad gets in on the "Like & Subscribe"! Been enjoying the episodes lately! Did I miss where you had to use the generator cuz you ran out of juice? You mentioned it here that you had to use the generator, but also that you can go 2-3 weeks fully with the goal zero...just curious what happened or what you learned or adapted. Also, if you ever end up in Oregon you've got a boondock here on the outskirts of PDX &/or it'd be fun to grab a trip out in the Cascades and show & share! Keep up the awesome episodes!

      @LivingLargeCamping  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the support Aaron! And yes, we released this video a week earlier than filmed, so the generator part will come in the next one. At some point along road, our 12v outlet in the truck that was charging the goal zero blew and I didn't realize it until the battery was around 30%. So from there we had to limp along with a 50w solar panel and finally ran out with a couple cloudy days. We've been working to get it fixed but had to fire up the generator for a couple hours to get a few days worth of power back into the GZ. Roof mounted solar panels are a must on the next setup!

    Not sure if I heard correctly but $6000 is too much for a camper that doesn't have anything. Good thing you upgraded.

    • @LivingLargeCamping
      @LivingLargeCamping  Рік тому

      It was pricey for the amenities, but the size, weight, and style were exactly what we needed at the time. Definitely pleased with our upgrade though!
