It's super cool that multilingual communities mean that those with less english can still come onto a primarily english speaking show like GDQ and have support while still getting to show their extreme skills. Shout out to the non-english restreams!
I think the most impressive part about this is how Ness's nightmare is defeated. Also, watching Octopuscal get the gutsy bat through manipulation after being me and spending hours upon hours grinding for it at the end of the 1/128 challenge is a feel XD
Wow! That is now one of my all time favourite runs at AGDQ ... The commentary and the skill by Octopuscal just makes this run legendary. What a game earthbound is!
Very impressive! It’s fun to watch the RNG strategies because it turns the game into a bunch of surprises, like watching Ness’ Nightmare knock himself out.
Well they mentioned at the start of the run that one of the things controlling RNG is text getting drawn to the screen… so I wouldn’t be surprised if the RNG manipulation routes just don’t work at all in any other language
@@snuffysamThey do not, such that Earthbound and Japanese Mother 2 have separate leaderboards for every category. Mother 2, having the benefit of Japanese text, is of course faster.

Some say Octopuscal is carrying manipulation to this day
This speedrun is like 5% fighting, 10% talking, 35% walking, and 50% waiting for that damn saucer to fly across the world to find Ness
Sounds like OoT and it's Any%. Half the time is the opening cinematics

As much as a life audience is awesome having more people around the world be able to participate is such a great thing too!
Great run! This game is always a fun watch to run, marvelous job Octopuscal!
Incredible that a 50 minute run has like 10+ minutes of cutscenes. Such a fun game
Wow. Last time Earthbound any% was at GDQ, it was almost 2 hours!
Now sub 1!? Amazing

By far the most impressive speedrun I think I've ever seen and it's my favorite series. Well done!

I'm always amazed to see streamers or people in general learning a second language, also amazing work by the runner
Cool run! Also, that virtual audience is really neato. All those hearts during the final fight are so wholesome.

How did I miss this??? Love the run, Andy is such a great commentator.
This was gold. Highlight for me was Ness' Nightmare just going, "poof."
Fantastic run & commentary, just the right about of technical explanation while letting the execution speak for itself
Here we go, this is the content I was waiting for
Can literally hear my cart crying from the other room well i watch this 'o-o
Great run
What a great run! Well done, well done
Yay, Earthbound!
congratulations for 2 million raised!!!
fantastic couch commentary and run
amazing! love to see Earthbound at AGDQ.
i remember putting 300+ hours in this game when it came out on the wii u virtual console. mind blowing to see it absolutely destroyed here. 😂
Life would be better if sandwiches made us double our run speed irl, great run gj Octo!
This is nuts!
I feel so dumb that I didn't notice until the end of the run that character's names spell out AGDQ lol
Whaaat, I tried so long to get the Gutsy Bat in the swamp. I want my hours back from whoever wrote that guide.
I love this game
so much love for this game :)
Great run!
Loved this run!
great run, but sad to see so much of this beautiful game skipped, i would so enjoy a skipless any% marathon run :D
I die a little every time I hear someone pronounce the town's name as anything other than Tucson.
"The SNES can't create truly random numbers". No machine can. You want true random, you gotta get quantum mechanical homie.
Is there anywhere where these glitches are explained in detail how to perform them in detail?
OutBound : the speedrun
8:20 i thought they meant King the dog i was so confused haha
flawless execution
Earthbound!!!!! ♥️♥️♥️
best game of all time
Its very ironic that the EarthBOUND speedrun strategy is out of BOUNDS
Completely unreal
Amazing run! Rep Japan!!!
every computer should have a true source of randomness, obviously I'm referring to radioactive decay.
Aw cute poem ^_^
Is Octopuscal running in English for our benefit? Or is it faster?
Well they mentioned at the start of the run that one of the things controlling RNG is text getting drawn to the screen… so I wouldn’t be surprised if the RNG manipulation routes just don’t work at all in any other language

Am I able to practice this speed run with the SNES Classic?
Yes. Several high level runners use the SNES Classic and it's allowed.
Yeah, all the glitches and manipulations should still be applicable
Is EarthBound faster than Mother 2? I'd expect games with a "lot" of text to be faster in Japanese
either way this Speedrun is so cool
So, when is Mother 3 coming to the US?
Never :/
shouldnt the run end once Ness finishes delivering everyone home? Finishing the run after the last hit on giygas is so anti-climatic imo.
When will this go back to in person?
When this pandemic ends, which won't happen very soon as it seems.
@@SkyKidShyKid Covid is here to stay, so probably never.
