    The way you've handled the loss so far is inspirational.
    I understand why you wanted a little longer to see if you could transition to the single, but I think Mark saw someone get put down head first, then get hit with roughly 15 blows to the head. Part of me thinks he could have let it go a few more seconds, and another part of me thinks he could have stopped it sooner, but because he let it go, it looked more awkward.
    If you watch it back, you'll see there were only a couple times during the G&P sequence that you guarded your face or chin for an incoming strike, and there were a few moments where your arms were either straight out, or wide open while he landed. I know this was probably to try and keep him aligned, and in your mind your head movement was enough to dampen the strikes, but the optics weren't good. He also landed 5 times really clean right before and during your roll, the last one with you facing away. I can see both sides, but a couple of extra seconds to really see where the roll was going would have been good.
    Enjoy your break champ - I look forward to seeing you come back with a bang!
    Edit: I rewatched, recounted, and only half of the shots landed clean. The ref has a hard job to do in the moment, without the benefit of replay or hindsight. Not a bad stoppage in the moment, but he should have allowed him to attempt the transition. Stopped it at the wrong moment.

      Well said, now go back and count how many punches connected, I counted seven. Now let's do an experiment, laid down on your back protect your self at the most intelligent way and try to get up. Marc Godard can NOT referee Colby, Izzy or Conor fights any more. Thinking isn't illegal.....

    • @DaBiznezzzTv
      @DaBiznezzzTv 9 місяців тому +14

      Would you rather get smashed In Your face and not see the shots coming. It looked like he was trying to catch Sean’s punches during the G & P instead of just covering up its not like he stopped moving. Another 5 seconds could’ve changed the fight. He could’ve gotten up and I think everyone knows it.

    Hearing you speak about the lead up to the fight and your journey in the past few years was very insightful, thanks for sharing Funkmaster. I picked you to win and still believe you could drown him any day with your grappling, but sometimes it’s factors outside the cage that the fans can’t see that have a big role in how the fights play out. The relentless rhythm you have been keeping up in the past few years was mounting on you and you finally feel relieved to let that go even if it comes at the cost of the belt. It makes me realise how ultra competitive this sport is and how much mental fortitude it requires to stay at the top for long, sustaining all the pressure that comes with it. Take your time, enjoy life, and I’m sure you’ll come back with a rejuvenated spirit and able to take on anyone!!! Best wishes

      Just hearing the first 5 minutes that this guy just been surgery>rehab>training camp, it’s rough. Not to mention maybe the dieting for the weight class if he has to try and make weight or if it’s easy for him.(Seen a documentary on a fighter making weight dude literally sweats out his water weight, and it’s looked like a horrible process, to constantly sweat and still train) But the point being although he may not be happy with the early stoppage- think it might have been a blessing. This goes for a lot of athletes that has to go under the knife and the more I read/listen into their lives of training and playing sports; it’s sad to hear that it’s extremely more common in their career. Hard to compete at the professional level and even harder to stay there.

    How about this perspective, was it ever a thought that Sean’s discipline with the footwork, unwillingness to engage & be out of position, staying long and throwing teeps & straight punches is what lead to aljo being frustrated & over extending which was his game plan all along?? Aljo says it was his voluntary error in wanting to be exciting that lead to him over reaching, but was it ever a thought that it was Sean’s tactics that lead to it?? I would think to assess things that way you could view the error with less bias? & would help leading into the possible rematch. No hate! & appreciate the work always
