Would be stoked for sens to take Sanderson and Rossi think they’re pretty close to guaranteed to pan out as elite prospects and both have a great character and work ethic
I just gotta say man I’ve watched all your videos and I love the way you scout and look at all the possible factors when analyzing a player. Another great thing is you know your biases and you realize that the popular opinion isn’t always accurate on certain guys. @@gamewinner3133 You're right. Reading it back, my comment was phrased poorly. It's not that it's frustrating per se, it's just a bit boring when everyone agrees all the time. :)

First of all - great content! always. Well thought out and it shows. You know why I like this? Because your list is not like everyone elses. Everyone else just seems to take Bob McKenzie's list or Central Scouting and their "hot take" is that Byfield goes #3 or #2 vs Stutzle and Drysdale or Raymond at 4. Ooooh the confidence and knowledge! I come here because these takes are yours and yours only. I can't wait to come back in 2-3 years and see how your rankings panned out when some of these kids play in the NHL. And by then, you will probably be a scout. (a few really good calls in these videos and you'll have pure evidence to get hired)
Well McKenzie's list is the best because it isn't just his opinion, it's basically polls what a bunch of legit NHL scouts think and compiles it into a ranking.
@@atom-o-tronic3505 you are correct. But the fact is the no one in the history of scouting has ever ranked even one round in near exact order of professional relevance. So that excites me that we still haven't identified the correct formula to project talent. Therefore, I encourage our favorite french canadian scout to keep being different. @@coryhames9331 Of course you can't ever pinpoint a draft with complete accuracy. Just a few big hot takes in here that I don't think will resemble the real draft at all.
Love it. You are the gold standard for UA-cam talent evaluators. If possible in the future for compilation videos like this it might be good to add the players jersey number in audio or text for those of us who don't know this in advance.
Fortunately the Redwings have Hakin Anderson, who was responsible for bringing Nick Lidstrom to Detroit. Im excited that we got Lucas Raymond and the future just got brighter.
Yannick, are you still around brother? I wouldn’t be surprised if an NHL team snatched you up for a scouting job, that’s how good your breakdowns were this year my dude. I hope things are well!
Believe it or not, he got snatch up by the Habs as an amateur video scout. Kinda sucks as a sens fan since I really enjoyed his prospects videos but his talent for identifying talent is definitely there. Especially in this day and age, it makes sense and I'm really happy for him!
I think it’s insane how many people rip on Rossi. The kid has given up EVERYTHING for hockey. His dad ended up losing his job because he was driving Marco to another country to play in a more competitive league. He came to Canada, and did everything he could to keep improving... lead the CHL in scoring, would’ve set a record for the best +/- in a reason... I get the size issues, and the team bias, but this kids work ethic is absolutely off the charts, and any player with that kind of drive is destined to keep improving.
Size should not be a concern. Just because he's small doesn't mean he's a strong and gritty 2 way player. He gets in the dirty areas and makes his teammates better. Hes also a great leader and a future captain imo
If he was playing another 2 1\2 minutes a game like the OHL kids, he would have popped 100 points and be looked at way differently rn EDIT: actually just by extrapolating rates he would have been around 110 points with an extra 2 min a game
Rossi is the absolute gem of this draft. I see him being a franchise player. Cup winning player. Also think Raymond over Jarvis. Not even sure why Seth is top 5.
I think it’s actually good that Byfield doesn’t just bully everyone around with his size in junior. There are many examples of players who were way more developed than everyone else get to pro hockey and not live up to the hype because they lost their physical advantage. I feel like would be easier to teach byfield how to use his body to protect the puck more than to teach him to not rely on his size/strength when he gets to the NHL
To put together this list it took a lot of work 👍. This ranking is bold but not exaggerated, however it must be emphasized that it's not a mock ranking. After Tutzle I expect a very different draft than this list. My favorites: Rossi, Jarvis and Sanderson which are higher than on the "conventional" lists. Excellent work 👏
These rankings are bold and beautiful. Can’t say I agree with all of them, but that only makes them more thought provoking. And also: Detroit better draft Rossi!!! LGRW
I just want to prepare you just in case : I heard a scout saying in a podcast that he heard rumours about the Red Wings being interested in picking Jake Sanderson thinking he would look good next to Seider
Nope. Rossi has the lowest ceiling of the prospects in that area. He’s already a finished product. His ceiling is a yanni gourde: really good 3rd line player on a contender, decent second line player on a lower level team. The other guys have way higher offensive ceilings. Raymond or perfetti will be the pick as long as the top three goes as planned and stutzle/byfield doesn’t fall to them.
@@commandershepard1838 This 'finished product' thing is absolutely silly. As far as I can tell, it's from a Reddit post citing an anonymous "NHL Scout". People need to use their heads. Good Job buddy !
Ice rankings! Personally i still think Byfield is an insane high celling and a pretty decent floor i have him at two followed by rossi not far behind, i have jarvis at 8 but i love the boldness to have him top5
Teams will stay away from rossi because of his size. He does have the highest upside after lafreniere imo but he is still at least a year or two away from NHL level hockey. On the other hand, I agree with the byfield ranking. Though he won't go that low I still think he has too many flaws in his game. Also, imo raymond and holtz I would have higher. They both have a great shot at being top 5 players in this draft in 10 years time.
But are they flaws he’ll never correct??? Or are you judging him based on what he is right now.... What player doesn’t have flaws???? It’s rare when you find someone who’s just insane at everything. Any team who drafts a kid is going to develop them and try to get rid of their flaws. If you’re arguing that Byfield won’t ever fix his downsides, then you might be insane.
@@Skkyyyyyyyyyyy Am I arguing that Byfield won't ever fix his flaws? No. Am I insane? No. Byfield is a good player with the size package and all but he really needs to change his style of play from a 1 dimensional scoring player who relies on scoring off the rush in the OHL to one who can utilize that 6ft 4 frame, being more physical both defensively and offensively, and like most prospects, improving his defensive game overall.
The SENS need to trade up their Islanders 3rd first rounder and some seconds to move up in this deep strong draft. We also have the best cap situation in the league
3Owen 1Videos If I’m not mistaken, if TB finishes off the NYI, their pick will come in at 28 or 29 (or 30? Not sure about Seattle’s pick). It will take a LOT to move that up to Quinn or Askarov territory. It could have been as high as 13, if Florida had beaten them in the play-ins. Then Quinn would have been doable. Thanks a lot, Panthers
@@mrpeppery Seattle doesn't draft until 2021. Pick also couldn't of been higher than 17 due to the Isle's winning percentage. Trading up is definitely possible with the surplus of 2nd and 3rd round picks the team has. (29th and 33rd is essentially two late first round picks).
brennan detzler yes, I was forgetting about 33. That’s a good point. And thanks for setting my head straight on Seattle. I was having a brain spasm. But their NYI pick definitely could’ve gone higher than 17 if the NYI had lost the play-ins. In fact, 17 would have been impossible. If they lose in the play-ins they are automatically in the bottom 15. Then you look at winning percentage, considering the teams that were eliminated from the play-ins. Of all the teams in the play-in round, there were only two with better winning percentages than the Islanders (Pittsburgh and Carolina). If they both had lost their play-in series and NYI had also lost, then those two teams would have gone 14 (Carolina) and 15 (Pittsburgh) and the Isles’ pic would have gone 13th. Many people consider Jack Quinn to be in the top 10 in this draft. Jack Quinn is likely going to be an all-star in the NHL. He is an elite goal scorer and if not the best then the second best in this draft. I don’t think any combination of very late first round or lower round picks is going to get you Jack Quinn. I think it’s also going to involve some roster players or existing prospects. Good ones.
Exactly what I was thinking. Especially the Physical side of play. That can be fixed no matter what but if Ottawa drafts him and puts him on a line with Brady Tkachuk he’s definitely gonna learn a thing or two
Thank you. In the same rankings he says that Stutzle needs to work on a few things. Well..... why can’t Byfield also??? Are we ranking these kids right now? Or where they will be.
I was impressed with the latest games I saw recently. He's clearly improving. Skating and shooting looks much better. Maybe he was tired when I saw him last year. Lots of players slowed down after the WJC.
Would love for the NJ Devils to draft Rossi if he was available at #7. He would be able to play wing or center based on need. Just a lot more potential and upside versus a player like Alexander Holtz. Wouldn't be unhappy with Holtz either, just think Rossi is a much better prospect.
Personally when i compare Rossi to an NHL player, i compare him to Brayden Point for a couple of reasons. Similar height and weight (Rossi is already a bit bigger). Both can score goals and make plays for others. Both are good skaters and have a high compete level. As a Wings fan, i'm hoping they can end up with him unless Stutzle falls to 4th overall.
This is my selfish comment because your list “validates” my opinion on 3 prospects: Seth Jarvis, Sanderson and Raymond. As much as it was unimaginable to see Caufield come out 15th, I don't understand why Jarvis is often out of the top 10 on the “traditional list” and the comparison with Mich Marner suits me perfectly. I could understand the rationality of Drysdale being drafted before Sanderson but I'm not surprised to see him so high in your rating. Since U18, Raymond's game in no way justifies a place in the top 10. 👉 Your list will be my reference during the draft 👈
To help with your potential video idea of revising this 1. Dylan Halloway is too low, playing D1 hockey and is doing it well, also a two-way center which is rare for young kids (especially in this draft) 2. Seth Jarvis is too high, he looks a lot like Dubois to me (which is a player I do like) but in a top 10 heavy class he is probably like 12-13
@@danickbakara6689 Don't think he progressed that much during the year. Some people love his defensive game. I don't think he's really good defensively. Those types of players are fairly easy to find later in the draft. I'm also worried old school coaches in the NHL (there is a lot of them) won't be thrilled with him. He might have a hard time getting ice time. Especially on a bottom six. He doesn't really fit the bottom 6 role. Makes him a bit riskier in my view.
@@DraftDynasty1 you’re going to be regretting this one..... no offence, I love your channel and work - but I find you’re really not good at scouting the Russian players - it seems you don’t understand the leagues and levels. I’ll bet 100% you didn’t have Amirov high because of his numbers in the KHL, and haven’t followed his prior years. Amirov was just named the best forward at the Karajla cup - he was the most dominant player at the tournament - and it’s a men’s tournament (Russia sent their U20 team).
Ice rankings! Personally i still think Byfield is an insane high celling and a pretty decent floor i have him at two followed by rossi not far behind, i have jarvis at 8 but i love the boldness to have him top5
I love your videos and I respect that you did your list without the bias of other draft rankings but Byfield at 6?
Byfields overrated af, does nothing against equal competition
Had also heard that neighborhood for him. Will be interesting to see.
6 is high I dont have him top 10
Elie Jomphe Man, how crazy that you know more than Pronman, Button, McKenzie!!
Byfield is not a top 5 sure maybe a top 10 but i think 7 or 8 players have more upside than him
Teams will stay away from rossi because of his size.
Where did you go Yannick?
Works for Habs apparently
Alright then,Rossi to the Red Wings.
I'm hoping for Rossi for the Red Wings at 4, but I feel like they will take Perfetti.
Byfield had a better draft year than Nathan Mackinnon don't @ me
The SENS need to trade up their Islanders 3rd first rounder and some seconds to move up in this deep strong draft. We also have the best cap situation in the league
Totally agree. Imagine getting byfield, Rossi and Quinn
My heart wants Askarov
Good ones.
Sanderson’s skating looks similar to Heiskanen am I wrong?
Sanderson can be 1 of the 3 or 4 best players in the draft I think
Great video. I would have added Askarov, looks like an amazing goalie. Putting up great numbers against men in Russia. Big comparisons made
Decided to skip goalies in the ranking. Said it in the first part 31-20
This is what I’ve been waiting for🤩🤩
15:19 tim stutzle is clark and he will become supermen at the next level
I'm in a super Hero mood. I've been watching the Boys on amazon prime. Nice show ahah
love those spicy takes
You can’t put him on the spotlight for the hlinka cup. Byfield barely got playing time 🤦♂️
He had a lot of icetime at the Hlinka. It's at the WJC that he didnt played much.
Draft Dynasty either way. Having him that low is a bit of a stretch. Guess we will see
All the traits you mentioned about Byfield can be fixed easily
Exactly what I was thinking. Especially the Physical side of play. That can be fixed no matter what but if Ottawa drafts him and puts him on a line with Brady Tkachuk he’s definitely gonna learn a thing or two
Thank you. In the same rankings he says that Stutzle needs to work on a few things. Well..... why can’t Byfield also??? Are we ranking these kids right now? Or where they will be.
Dig your passion for this stuff. One question though, where is Rodion Amirov? He should be in everybody's top 31.
He should be 10
Welp. My squad drafted Raymond so now I must inevitably say: sorry but your list my be invalid because I won't accept a wasted pick at four 😄
Crosby's lower body strength is crazy as well. Just another similarity that Rossi has with him.
I am only at #5, but I am just gonna guess the French guy is gonna say Lafreniere is #1, yet Byfield is not even in the top 5? Lol. Smh
99% of the hockey experts have lafreniere. Its not really a debate this year. Nothing to do with french or english...
Byfield is not a top 5
Jarvis at #4?
As a Wings fan i'd be thrilled.
Byfield at #6. Good luck with that.
Encore une fois beau travail ou beaux travaux... Ca.prendrait la version francaise du vidéo , tsé en bon québécois.
Byfield to the Ducks confirmed
Some time I think rossi can go 1st overall 14:30 he has very good size for 5.9 he 187 pounds
Love the analysis and accent!
Do you think Byfield will develop into a number one center?
It is very likely yes.
thanks man you da best
"zero chance he is busting"
it me
I hope Pierre Dorion is watching somewhere
I mean Dorion is a great scout, Im not worried
To help with your potential video idea of revising this
1. Dylan Halloway is too low, playing D1 hockey and is doing it well, also a two-way center which is rare for young kids (especially in this draft)
2. Seth Jarvis is too high, he looks a lot like Dubois to me (which is a player I do like) but in a top 10 heavy class he is probably like 12-13
Woah. These are bold
Tu vas te trouver une job de scout avant longtemps. Je te félicite d'avance
Tim stutzle il y a 2mois il a dit que il pesait 200 je sait pas quand la photo a ete prise
HOT TAKES!!!
definitely could have played it a bit safer :p ahah
No Rodion Amirov in top 31?
Just outside the first round. He's not really doing it for me.
That’s a surprise. In your opinion what is it about his game that is pushing him down outside of the 1st round?
When all is said and done, Amirov will be a top 5 player from this draft, he will be a dynamic offensive player (ex Kucherov / Malkin) but also an elite 2 way player. Again, love yah man - but this ones going to bite you in the butt .... you’ll be wishing you had him in your top 10 as soon as world Jrs get going - he will dominate the tournament
@@DraftDynasty1 yikes .... what a rough break down ..... you’re better than this man.... you’re that easily fooled by KHL coaching? .... you’re great at scouting North America ... but boy oh boy do you get fooled when it comes to Russia .... all good tho - you have room to grow! keep up the amazing videos
Hehe.. love your picks.. very bold but their your picks and I can't agree or disagree.
I love Sanderson but I hope he doesnt go that high..lol.. I'm hoping he drops miraculously to habs or we trade up for him.
I'm not high on the smaller players cause the habs have already too many small skilled players. The small hab forwards were getting pushed around too much
0% chance Sanderson is available at 16th. But he would look good in a Habs jersey :)
@@DraftDynasty1
do you think if Sanderson is there at 10 for the Jets, is that a no brainer in your mind?
@@justinbunzeluk1935 Most likely will be gone at 10 imo. But if he's there easy pick
18:42 2001
2021 oups
J'ai un top 10 très semblable
1. Lafreniere 2. Stutzle 3. Rossi 4. Sanderson 5 jarvis 6 perfetti 7 raymond 8 drysdale 9 holtz 10 askarov
Byfield? tu l'as oublié?
Je le met pas dans mon top 10 haha je croit qu'il vas avoir de la difficulté à s'adapter rendu dans la ligue nationale
I hope somehow Jack Quinn can fall to the Habs.
If he does than don't take him. Teams passed for a reason.
What about Raymond?
He was 12th
In three years everyone’s gonna love Raymond.
