    I went to CE-A school in Hueneme in '65. Great memories. I can still smell those trees. I think they were Eucalyptus trees. Got out in '68, I'll never forget those years. Proud to have been a Seabee.

    I would recommend this for every young man or woman who doesn't know what they want to do in life. Especially if you don't have kids or get home sick. I went through my A school in the early nineties. After A school was done my battalion was located where I went to school at. in Gulfport, Miss. I wasn't there but for a few weeks and we were sent to Somalia for Operation Restore Hope. I traveled the world, Iived in Spain for a while . It was the best time of my life.

    Thank you for the great info ! My son ships to boot in Nov and will be in the Seabee Builder. Can you please give a little info on the classroom portion of A school? He seems to pick things up a little better doing hands on so that part will help out but hope he does well on the classroom portion with the curriculum. the books and studying. Thank you for any help you might be able to provide and THANK YOU for the service and taking care of us . Take care of yourself as well.

    Having been a Construction Mechanic in the U.S. Navy Seabees from 1986 to 1990 I was assigned and attached to NMCB THREE and worked with a Petty Officer Thomas Taylor.
    He was the first one that I remembered when having seen your name.

      How’d it go brother? Update? I’m thinking seriously about joining the Navy. My stories different than most. Grew up wanting to be in Marines. Have 7 family members than served in that branch. 2 Army. And 2 Navy. I worked in warehouse as a supervisor for 7 years. When I decided I wanted to join Marines was to late needed age waiver. About to be homeless on my birthday, burned all my bridges because I wanted to have fun, and I’m about to loose everything. I feel this is my last chance to get back on the right road. Because I’ve been on the wrong one for so long, I’m literally about to crash and burn.

    Would you say that you've enjoyed your time with the seabees and are glad that you joined? I'm going through CE A school right now and have been here a month and I am scheduled to graguate on September 28th. I'm having a hard time adjusting. I'm understanding what is being taught I just need to get used to the pase at which it is being taught. I'm getting along fine here I just feel like I'm stuck right now and am missing family and friends. Any advice on school or any general advice on becoming more adapted?

    • @sirpiccolo
      @sirpiccolo 7 років тому

      Jana Michels have an open mind to things and don't be afraid to ask for assistance if you need it. Battalion life will literally be a different phase in life so the best way to go about that is to just focus on graduating school and, if you go to battalion first, passing ECS. Family will be there in spirit. Don't shut them out, that support from them is mega for motivation. You'll have time to take leave to visit them

    • @sirpiccolo
      @sirpiccolo 7 років тому

      Jana Michels semper gumby/always flexible. There will be some drastic changes. Try to go with the flow. This may not help but it's hard to explain without you seeing it firsthand. Then it'll make sense

    • @doncee1831
      @doncee1831 7 років тому +2

      Jana Michels I am a CE also. served from 1993-1998. I am from the west Virginia area and was sent to California for my boot camp and a school. so, needless to say, I had zero friends and family on the other side of the country. no visitors after graduation in boot camp, no liberty to go back home. I was put on medical hold for 3 months because of a broken finger in a school. so, it was 9 months before I was able to get back to see friends and family. I had no background in electricity prior to my enlistment. so, I was totally green. a school, to me, seemed like a mind game more than anything. of course, you got a crash course in being an electrician. but, the real deal is after graduating a school. and, after you graduate and get to your duty station, it's just like going to a job. one that teaches you attention to detail, and a good work ethic. things very important in your career after seabees. being able to put "seabee" on your resume once you get back in the real world is huge. I've been an electrician working in the industrial field since my enlistment ended in 1998. I've been employed by a major chemical plant the past 6 years making 6 figures a year. all thanks to my start as a CE in seabee a school. hang in there... it's gonna be 5 years from now regardless. you may as well have the training and seabee experience under your belt. I'm envious. the travel and parts of the world you're going to see is amazing. if you're lucky, you'll get a Guam trip. at least it was pretty awesome back in 1997! Good luck seabee!

      Liam James There have been rumors of that since the 70s. My Dad was a Master Chief. And even taught class at Gulfport. When My Dad was in the Sea Bees had the same physical standards as the Marines. The Seabees teaches the army how to make things happen and I'm a former Soldier. But I always brag about my dad for being a CB in the history that he made in the Seabees.

      The Seabees are the world's largest construction Force. They're not going anywhere except to fight and to build!

      Trucker DeadPool largest construction force🤣😂 That goes to the us Army Corp of engineers. Sea bees don’t have the equipment and manpower that the army engineers do. Proud 12N essayons
