Why would the army construction battalions go to the range more if the Navy is building the FOBs though? The Navy CBs are at the front lines with the USMC, rangers, etc building the forward operating bases and the Army corps of engineers work on bases that have already been built, correct?

Thanks for the video. Glad to see Seabees are still "Can Do". Daddy was Seabees in WWII, my brother was during Viet Nam. My son in the Marines loved Ya'll in first Gulf War. Ya'll made his living condition easier.

A school schedule varies...please keep in mind military does not have civilian schedule. Also new seabees...be aware the job is shitty...the ugliest girls join, and republicans are what get you to the marriage life... Remember...the military is political, but you are still just a sacrifice for politics

When I was there we shared the same building as the Army the Army was on one side and the Air Force was a couple floors below us but you go to school with Army engineers and Air Force engineers

I was in Gulfport Mississippi in 2001 right before 9/11 happened but I loved Builder A School I remember the CNO came to our A school after 9/11 it was cool he actually watched me build our house project he had like 20 admiral’s with him all in there 20s it was crazy

I was a BU in the Seabees I was in Gulfport A School when 9/11 happened we marched and went to see what was happening that’s when I seen the second plan hit the tower’s I thought everything was fake I just couldn’t believe it but yeah was in Gulfport Mississippi for 3 or 4 months it was a great time in my life I loved it

You did not mention headquarters company made up of fleet rates. Example: gunnersmate, cooks, medical, pencil pushers, supply, laundry, barbers, and on it goes.

Hey man if your still around how long does it take you guys to lay an airstrip if deployed. When I was in little creek they had it down to about 7 to eight hours to determine up. We had the old tents with wooden poles and a lot of work to set up. I would guess that you have a lot upgrades in equipment that will speed you up a lot.

Thank you for the great info ! My son ships to boot in Nov and will be in the Seabee Builder. Can you please give a little info on the classroom portion of A school? He seems to pick things up a little better doing hands on so that part will help out but hope he does well on the classroom portion with the curriculum. the books and studying. I joined the Navy Reserves and will be leaving for boot camp May 18th as a UT. I know nothing about trade jobs and really only accepted it since it was the only opening that fit in my timeframe. I’m nervous about A school and being a girl in a trade job at A-school. Any advice/suggestions on that?

Having been a Construction Mechanic in the U.S. Navy Seabees from 1986 to 1990 I was assigned and attached to NMCB THREE and worked with a Petty Officer Thomas Taylor. He was the first one that I remembered when having seen your name.

This guy can’t be a Seabee. A poor representation for a E4. Must be an Army Corp. Of Engineers plant. To forget a BU, which is the main element of a MCB is unforgivable.

I would recommend this for every young man or woman who doesn't know what they want to do in life. Especially if you don't have kids or get home sick. I went through my A school in the early nineties. After A school was done my battalion was located where I went to school at. in Gulfport, Miss. I wasn't there but for a few weeks and we were sent to Somalia for Operation Restore Hope. I traveled the world, Iived in Spain for a while . It was the best time of my life.
