  • I try out the new amp and check out it's natural tones - then throw three overdrives and fuzz at it!

    Thank you for demoing a variety of pedals and styles. It does a lot better with overdrive and fuzz than I was led to believe.

      I now use two of them (one is a Deluxe) in stereo. They LOVE overdrives! Right now I use a Red Llama into Herculean (Mythos) overdrive. It's pretty awesome.

    I have the blonde Deluxe Reverb and it's a killer amp. The attenuator is perfect for my home-playing requirements, and with it at 0.5W and the volume cranked, the break-up sound is glorious. This Princeton sounds great too!

    I’ve spent a good amount of time with my Twin Tone Master, now. Love the amp. My advice to anyone thinking about the tonemaster range is that they are great for plugging straight into & super versatile, in that use. They don’t do well with some pedals. I run an old MXR non bypassed in front of mine(pedal off) to round off the annoying high end the amp produces.

      I can't imagine the problem - but I realize it doesn't replace a hand wired original. I have some great tube amps. I hate worrying about them. I don't worry about this - it's ready to go, plugs right in, sounds the same, and it's light as small pedalboard - and it DIGS modern pedals.

    I am in no way putting you down, your a good player with a lot of really nice gear and a beautiful guitar. This is just my opinion and no disrespect towards you what's so ever!!! For the money your spending between the amps and pedals you can purchase a great tube amp and in my opinion this new Princeton amp does not sound good at all. It sounds cheap with no punch and as we know the Tele guitar that you are using you should be able to hear that nice quack sound that Fenders are known for. This amp does not do your guitar the justice it deserves... :(

    • @craigkeefer5765
      @craigkeefer5765  11 місяців тому +1

      Right on, I hear you - it's not a tube amp. I have some nice tube amps, and I love them. This does not replace them for pure enjoyment. BUT, this amp sounds great live, and that's what I bought it for. It is perfect for adjustable stage volume, direct out that sounds good, and it is LIGHT! My beloved Fender Concert is about 85 lbs. Even my Deluxe gets heavy. And they are LOUD! (if you want "that sound"). Most places I play don't allow that. Sometimes I have to resort to in-ears...

      It's all good, brother! We're just having a good time. By the way - the beauty of these Fenders (and more and more amps, these days) is that there is no need to use a mic - the speaker emulator direct out works great! Certainly as good as a '57 dropped over the top, like I would usually use. It's all about easy set-up and break down for me - Guitar to pedalboard to amp to PA - and the sound is totally acceptable, with the option of different output levels (or none) going to the speaker. I have different rigs for different needs, all the way up to a 5150 III 100S and a stereo ENGL 50/50 that I use wet/dry/wet (holy crap!) - but there aren't many places I get to use that... @@edwarddilegge4307

    Thats cool. I like the power-scaling options. Can you still use the speaker for stage monitoring while using the line-out?

    • @craigkeefer5765
      @craigkeefer5765  Рік тому +2

      Yup. I just hooked it up to the PA going direct, AND with a SM57 out front. I'm going to record it in a video soon. The direct on setting "1" sounds pretty close to the speaker with the Shure SM57 right in front of the cone - to my ear, anyway. You can use the different power levels or turn the speaker off while you use the direct out. I'm running at about mid way (6?) on the output level pot that is next to the XLR output. Check out the video soon!

    The Jensen is probably the high end issue…be cool to hear it without all the reverb…or at least a little less…got it pretty washed out…

    • @craigkeefer5765
      @craigkeefer5765  Рік тому

      It is a little "crystal". I use a couple gain stages, and a verity of guitars, so I tend to dial the treble down on those - but it's nice to have that for "etherial" sounds from a good delay. Yeah, I just have to have the reverb on - it's what makes it a Fender, to me - but usually not that hot.

    I noticed that, on a 4watt reduction on a Blackstar 40watt amp, my pedals became pretty muddy. I guess this was because of the reduced headroom when running at 4watts.
    How does headroom work with the Princeton TM and the different attenuation options? Or is there no real “headroom” to worry about with a digital amp?

    • @craigkeefer5765
      @craigkeefer5765  Рік тому +1

      My perception of "headroom" seems to fall off, as volume decreases - but the sound coming out of the PA (and in-ears) seems pretty close.

    • @craigkeefer5765
      @craigkeefer5765  Рік тому

      I don't have experience with those. This amp is great for doing Fender stuff - but any other effects, etc need to be added. I love pedals, so it's perfect for me. It records direct very nicely, and being able to run different power levels to the speaker is really cool in the studio - as loud as you need it, or nothing at all. I love it for just noodling around - it's just like a regular Fender (switch in the back, standby switch, jewel power light), so it's just no fuss to get going, and it's so light, it's no big deal to move around. I have. bunch of little combo amp, but this is the one I keep using.

      Honestly, it's very close. It just FEELS right. Maybe it's the very resonant cabinet? I have been using all sorts of "digital" stuff, trying to do the low to no stage volume - and it just never feels right, you know? I will do another video with it plugged into the DAW / PA - that's the real test, for what I'm doing. But, man! The reverb, trem - everything! Very Fender.
