    "...a better conditioned fighter wins...because they have the mentality of saying;"I can get my body to do whatever I want it to do, and I know its not going to tire out, so I'm mentally free to do whatever I want" ; great advice from Kathy Long

    The intensity and focus on her face describing this is both scary and admirable. She is obviously deeply passionate and the complexity and depth of the thought processes are amazing. It dispells the myth of the meatbag fighter who just swings until they win but I have to agree with everyone else, the camera work and post editing was a travesty to the hard work they put into this.

    Number one, Kathy was amazing here. Taught him 90 percent of what he needs to know to be an affective fighter stat. Secondly, he was a fantastic learner. Fabulous workout interview. I wouldn't get in the ring with him in just that session alone. Prior to? Yes I would have stepped in had I known his skill level. Next lesson for him? Defense. Awesome video. Subscribed 👍🏽

    Considering this was his first practice, he actually looked very good! A perfect student is a student who wants to learn. Plus he's explosive and a fast learner. If he has heart, works on his conditioning and doesn't mind getting hit, he could be a fighter. Well done.

    wow this lady is incredible. She's not only intense about how she goes about her business but articulate and specific about what she's doing. Most people would see a big guy and say I'd hate to meet him in the ally. I'd hate to meet this lady in a dark alley. The way she looks at him is very intimidating. She's got fire burning in her eyes.

      She's very smart. But, it sounds like it's been hard on her if you listen to her interview. If she was already torn down, she'd collapsed, but she was strong, where from my perception it built her. Yet, she probably could use some TLC. Which some would only have interest in what she can give to them. But, it really sounds like she can use TLC.

    I have a feeling that when they uploaded the video youtube told them that it was a bit shaky and asked if it was ok for youtube to edit it, and they said yes. When you do that the video gets all crazy, same thing happened in one of the videos i uploaded.

    I didn't think his camera guy could get any worse, but aside from some technical errors I liked this video. You people complaining about mistakes in terminology or location, etc, need to relax. She may be wrong about where precisely the IT band runs but that's not going to stop her from taking out the leg.

    I dont know if you could kick my head off, since I´m also training various martial arts, but probably not as much as you, so yeah you might be able to do that :D
    You´re right, I forgot several things and I didnt really care about the correct order, but it seems like you know what my comment was all about ;)
    I just wanted to say that being "fit" takes more than being big and strong. There are so many huge guys thinking they could dominate everyone when all they´ve got is strength! :D

    The M&F logo is bouncing around because when you upload a video youtube will say "Your video is shaky would you like to stabilise it" and if you click yes, well long story short this is what happens, the cameraman obviously saw that everyone says his a crap camera man, so he hit the stabilise button so the video is not bouncy and running smooth BUT his final version is ruined because he put the logo on another program then stabilised it via youtube, he should of stabilised it on his program.

    A lost of weight lifters tend to shy away from cardio, not because they don't like it, but because most cardio workouts counteract weight training. It's a fine line that you have to use with how much cardio you do depending on what you're looking for in your workout results.

  • @firepill
    @firepill 11 років тому

    I agree. Bodybuilding and Muay Thai are two very different sports with very different goals. Bodybuilding, in essence is about hypertrophy.. Pumping your muscles up and above what is functional and needed in daily life, all the while sacrificing a lot of mobility. Muay Thai on the other hand is all about agility, endurance and speed. Bulky muscles will not only get in the way, they will eat up your energy reserves extremely fast. Theres a reason why Rob pants so much in these videos...

    What she's saying is very true, power lifting works wonders for explosive movement. I can kick as hard as guys my weight who have been training WAY longer than me because I do squats and deadlifts. My technique is probably not as good, but my raw power transcends well.

  • @grahamvandyke1283
    @grahamvandyke1283 11 років тому +1

    Muay Thai doesn't have belt system... You can only really know how good people are by watching them on the bag/pads or their record if they've fought.

  • @grahamvandyke
    @grahamvandyke 11 років тому

    It might also help that in power lifting you lift the weight as fast as possible during the concentric contraction.

    This isn't the original fotage, it has been rendered and after that put trough a stablizing software and making it look smooth. The correct order is the other way around.

  • @grahamvandyke
    @grahamvandyke 11 років тому

    Interesting... I've read so many different things it's hard to know which information is the best. I do power lifting at the moment (which isn't really bodybuilding, it's doing the basic lifts with very few reps) and I read an MMA article where the author was saying doing those low reps is good for power and speed because you're lifting such heavy weight that all your muscle fibers are being worked to finish the movements.

  • @Yo64130
    @Yo64130 11 років тому

    I think it becomes powerlifting when you want to lift the weights fast even if it takes you 2 seconds up, power comes from neuromuscular function so if your brain is sending the signal to do it fast, even if you can't because of the weight, you are training for power. When BB training and lifting with slow tempos it feels really different than trying to lift heavy and fast even if you seem to go slow, also slow tempos require lighter weights.

  • @ABL36
    @ABL36 11 років тому

    Squats and deadlifts arent power unless you are lifting fast. Cleans and kettlebell swings are power exercises. So is jumping, and plyometrics. That's the kind of stuff you should do. Put a barbell on your back and do jump squats, do a burpee and on the way standing back up dead lifting a kettlebell. That's power. Bodybuilding is not power, it's slow paced form while concetrating on each muscle group specifically. The more powerful (faster) you train the more powerful (faster) you will become.

    • @Noone-rt6pw

      If she'd trim the hair that hangs over her eyes, it could help! Often I see her tilt her head back to see. I knew someone else wore their bangs long did the same the thing where it's like they want to show you inside their nostrils. But, never can tell, she might do it to hide her face, even subconsciously.
      She's given all this glamour from magazines and interviews, where others may envy her, but if you listen to how she's been treated, it's been hard and neglected. High demands, not getting rest, TLC, or things needed to recoup. I bet she'd been even better if she'd had a sponsor rather than so many demands to get a leg up. Like massages and such to recoup, instead of having to meet other demands. She obviously had a lot of drive and energy.

    I had the same thought also until I followed some of those "chicken legged" arm/chest people one day. Some do work on their legs, just not for power, but endurance...like running forever at a fast pace on threadmill. So you can't just judge them by small legs, some can run longer and faster than the average top heavy lifter. At one point I was one of those chicken legs, but could run for long periods and fast.
