So sad that some babies are gone. I can’t really say I’m surprised though. It’s just a rare occasion for free range babies, especially white ones, to all escape predators. Praying that these two will make it!!!!!! The pigeon palace is looking great! I wonder if Mary Carl really appreciates what a lucky little girl she is! My husband and I were fortunate to meet you all at the Gulf Coast Homesteaders meet up last year and enjoyed it so much. One thing (as people of retirement age) that we were so happy to see was all the children of the speakers running around playing outdoors like WE used to do! Red Rover! Grandpa Adler farms plays games with his chickens. He'll call them over before he flips the water bowls and they attack the bugs underneath when he lifts them. It is the cutest thing!!

hindsight is a wonderful thing - I grew up farming and we would look back after seasons have finished to see what we would change, tweak or never do again - I think with the pea chicks once Ms Lewis has her eggs next year put a dog run around her area with food and water in there for her and when the pea chicks hatch they are contained and that might continue to be their home until they are old enough to join the flock of chickens like Ms Lewis's mothers chicks have now - yes you are right Brooke it does hurt the heart to see pea chicks missing
Turkey's normally roost in trees, so they might be using the fence posts to roost on or going to the trees at night and then back in the morning but don't have the need to fly in the yard over the fence possible knowing you'll come let them in or they don't have the nature to fly over the fence to get back oin. Might want to put a tree4 like structure in the yard and see if that takes care off it. Think is I have a very tall tree in my backyard and seen Turkey's fly up and roost in it a few times!
When I saw Moody come out of his shelter, I was thinking you know I rarely hear him or Mildred calling. I know we're only seeing about 30 minutes of your day. Are they really that quiet?
They are getting louder! A cattle rancher I watch really likes the Redmund garlic blocks. He said he has to use it for awhile to see results. He uses fly traps as well. Those do smell bad but seem to work.
I'm still thinking putting a fence around where your peahens lay their eggs will be a good idea. It won't matter if the hen flies in and out of there as long as the babies don't get out. It only has to be a tall enough fence to keep predators out and have small enough links in it to keep the babies in. You can catch them all much easier to then put them in whatever container space you want or leave them there until the babies get old enough. Just sayin'
Green stalks are looking full. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻. Do you have an outside fire pit? The one I liked was from the Hollar's but I'm sure Jason or Brooke would know how to build one. You have a lot of sticks and limbs around. Plus it makes for a relaxing time.

I have one of those twisted filberts, we call it walking stick and it get 3” pale yellow ish catkins in spring . It’s a beautiful specimen. And doesn’t get to big!!! You can trim and use the little limbs in floral arrangements and use for crafts.

Your Contorta is also known as Harry Lauder’s Walking Stick and has beauty in all seasons. In winter it has a beautiful contorted, twisted silhouette. In spring, this filbert has beautiful bright yellow green drooping catkins. A great plant!

Hi guys that’s sad 3 chicks where not there what about next time they lay eggs put a couple in a incubator and hatch them that way you can get them to safe age it’s just a thought you probably already thought of it anyway, it’s no body’s fault unfortunately that’s the circle of life, I love the way you all are with all ur animals and when they pass it’s so hard I wish sometimes they would live a little longer I have 2 Chihuahua’s and they are getting old i am not looking forward to that day sending love from uk ♥️

hindsight is a wonderful thing - I grew up farming and we would look back after seasons have finished to see what we would change, tweak or never do again - I think with the pea chicks once Ms Lewis has her eggs next year put a dog run around her area with food and water in there for her and when the pea chicks hatch they are contained and that might continue to be their home until they are old enough to join the flock of chickens like Ms Lewis's mothers chicks have now - yes you are right Brooke it does hurt the heart to see pea chicks missing

Turkey's normally roost in trees, so they might be using the fence posts to roost on or going to the trees at night and then back in the morning but don't have the need to fly in the yard over the fence possible knowing you'll come let them in or they don't have the nature to fly over the fence to get back oin. Might want to put a tree4 like structure in the yard and see if that takes care off it. Think is I have a very tall tree in my backyard and seen Turkey's fly up and roost in it a few times!

A cattle rancher I watch really likes the Redmund garlic blocks. He said he has to use it for awhile to see results. He uses fly traps as well. Those do smell bad but seem to work.

I'm still thinking putting a fence around where your peahens lay their eggs will be a good idea. It won't matter if the hen flies in and out of there as long as the babies don't get out. It only has to be a tall enough fence to keep predators out and have small enough links in it to keep the babies in. You can catch them all much easier to then put them in whatever container space you want or leave them there until the babies get old enough. Just sayin'

So sorry for your loss but happy Momma and two babies are good, and y’all did everything you could’ve. And great work on the purple palace I’m sure MaryCarl is excited to get it up and running😂 . I have one of those twisted filberts, we call it walking stick and it get 3” pale yellow ish catkins in spring . It’s a beautiful specimen. And doesn’t get to big!!! You can trim and use the little limbs in floral arrangements and use for crafts.

Your Contorta is also known as Harry Lauder’s Walking Stick and has beauty in all seasons. In winter it has a beautiful contorted, twisted silhouette. In spring, this filbert has beautiful bright yellow green drooping catkins. A great plant!
The Aviary is beautiful. I am sure Mary Carl researched everything and what a wonderful job she did. So glad Ms. Lewis is okay. She is a first time Momma and did what she thought best. Will keep them in my prayers That is what is so hard about farm life

Hi guys that’s sad 3 chicks where not there what about next time they lay eggs put a couple in a incubator and hatch them that way you can get them to safe age it’s just a thought you probably already thought of it anyway, it’s no body’s fault unfortunately that’s the circle of life, I love the way you all are with all ur animals and when they pass it’s so hard I wish sometimes they would live a little longer I have 2 Chihuahua’s and they are getting old i am not looking forward to that day sending love from uk ♥️

You know that if you didn't look under those trailers, that would be exactly where they would be nesting.
I expect if those babies grow up without being in an area where they get some human contact they will be wild and probably not survive for long
