Always loved Juliana Hatfield's music.. Shame she doesn't think she'll ever find true love/happiness.. She deserves it
Every song you sing restore fans. Thank you.
She's one of my favorite artists. She has put out a large body of work and it's been fantastic to be able to enjoy her music over decades. This event was so great. Thanks to my colleagues at Northeastern for hosting it.
It's it is such an honor to hear Julianna Hatfield speak
I always loved her voice. No matter how old she gets she always sounds like a young, naive and innocent girl. I think the sweetness of her voice really sounds great against the grungy guitar sound.
It is really good, almost impossible to put down.
Wow, what a honor to hear Julianna
Wowza! How cool was that? Long live Juliana!
I've read this book and it's well written. Its not another boring rockstar story about drugs, sex blah blah blah. Juliana is very intelligent and articulate.
Thank you for this post. Juliana Hatfield is one of my favourite solo artists. I admire her career in music, honesty & her work ethics.
*SDN
Juliana Hatfield will always be a very special person/artist to me. I listened to her music almost religiously in my late teens/early 20s. Perhaps one day I will start listening again and see how she has progressed.
Love Juliana
She has the sweetest voice
She's really getting a lot of shit on this comment section. I think she's talented and very underrated. Much like me ;-)
Just finished this book. *Spoiler alert* While through the years I've related to many of her more sullen songs, nothing pleases me more than to read that she is beginning to find happiness and contentment in her life. It's all any of us fans have ever wanted for her. And did my ears decieve me, or did I hear the words "new album?!" Let the unbridled anticipation begin....again!
Her book is incredible. For anyone experiencing depression, she describes it perfectly. Show it to anyone who tells you to "just get over it." Felix Pappalardi was murdered in his apartment 3 blocks from where I grew up in Waterside in Manhattan.
Thanks for posting! I love this.
Whoa, Juliana wrote a book? I have to get it.
Nice post! Juliana's the coolest.
I lost contact with the music from about 95 to 08 myself, but the CD 'Gold Stars' got me back on track. 'Beautiful Creature' shouldn't be missed by anyone, I think. eBay it!
My dad smashed my mother's hutch which had all her knick knacks, so I relate to this harpsichord stories.
I have to buy her book.
I MISS MY SISTER!!!
I hope she writes very good songs again like "My Sister".
God bless her and everybody.
Wow, some very intense storytelling
Loved this book. Rebecca Gibel is a great voice talent, but does Jules absolutely no justice on Audible. Voice is too unique and powerful to be para mounted.
51 minutes, how do they do it?
the harpsichord chapter was the best chapter in the book. too bad she cut the chapter short and didn't mention how felix girlfriend murdered him. the shit was pretty funny!! i suggest everyone getting her book, it was REALLY a good book.
i am glad she narrates creative nonfiction and used to be a rock star. i always liked the lyrics "not the real thing/untrusted/not busted" from "okay okay," and "i can't sing i'm not a singer/i swear i'm gonna kill myself if you bring her" from " feelin' Massachusetts " if her voice would just a little less obnoxious i could take in more material here as she read. in this reading she helps me understand the experience of an actual musician, although I am not one.
will you invite Milo?
"do I need a degree for that?" If you want to be able to help patrons, then yes.
I used to really like JH and her music but the last time I saw her it was a free show at Virgin Megastore Union Square and she complained about: the cappuccino machine, the sound, the stool she was sitting on.
Is this a Portlandia sketch?
She should've been happy the 20 of us even showed up.
You s7khardass
Sounds like she should have hooked up with Billy Corgan in the 90s. He'd love to drink tea at dawn with her.
She needs a man who knows how to love.
I am saddened to find I actually like Juliana less after watching this. Writing about urination seems to be the very definition of "too much information".
Yeah, how dare she share a funny story. What musician would do such things!!?? UNBELIEVABLE!!!!
You ever read ANY memoir of any singer/songwriter?
I hate the rising inflection. Get rid of it.
Get rid of your need to control everyone
A woman fraught with emotional handicaps, including depression, insecurity, anxiety, the list goes on...Saw her live a number of times. Talented songwriter but with minimal stage presence and an awful, squeaky voice. Her book was OK, explains life on the road, and in general, why she she was such a mess in the mid to late 90s and why FM radio abandoned her.
Mr Schmeltz fiona apple is a quality artist. Cant put her in the same category as Britney spears
@@Jujubes666 Early Fiona Apple videos on MTV were the raunchiest of softcore porn. She was probably forced into making those videos. Her musicianship is good though.
Imagine saying this about Layne from Alice in Chains. When it is a man they are fully allowed to be messed up in any way but women, "YOU DEPRESSED AND ANXIETY RIDDEN MESS!!"
As if almost all artists do not deal with all these same issues.
You sir are a cabbage brain.
@@OffTheWagons Excuse me. Don't call me sir. It's Zir
@@dalhuset Was uh writing about the other zir 😁
