The balance of this group is very professional, both in style and substance. With the trad lineup of tpt, tbn and clar string bass and guitar played so very well, the piano is not missed. The washboardist is the envy of every drummer who’s ever used brushes!!
Listening to this set reminds me very much of the first jazz band I ever listened to , in 1953: the great Chris Barber band , who had a similar front line with the legendary Monty Sunshine on clarinet. If I close my eyes I can almost believe its the same band , especially during Haruka's solo.
You might enjoy this version, although it is Ian Wheeler on clarinet. ua-cam.com/video/zHpDWcSzkJo/v-deo.html John Crocker on sax and the great Vic Bray on bass! Wisely nobody attempts the vocal!
These girls are amazing...I love how talented musicians like Albanie can just slot in, and even switch instruments...Molly/Albania swap from guitar to bass and back again....you go girls. And please work on a tour to Australia.
A joy to listen to with a heavy accent on exciting ensemble playing. The solos are, as they should be to showcase the near virtuoso qualities of the individuals. The selection of songs is right up my street. Margie, When you wore a tulip and Shame an,d Trouble. They really got me with Pops Bechet’s much loved ‘Onions’ though I think they called it something else. A pity the audience didn’t know to shout out ‘onions on the breaks. Altogether a sheer delight to listen to! Y
