In original movie as well as this reimagined I love how Obi smiles when he sees Luke and Leia together because the last time they were together was when they were born. The smile is his realization that his plan is working and if anyone can redeem the galaxy it will be them. The board is set and the pieces are ready. That is why he is content to let go.
Yeah absolutely mate and as someone else has mentioned, its the only time in the franchise that both of Anakin's children are together in his presence....such an iconic moment!
@@SofaandChill How about something a little more sinister, since we all know, like it or not, Ben lied to Luke about his father. A certain point of view my ass. He was thinking, "I'm going to let Vader cut me down right in front of Luke, which will further make him want to kill the man that killed not only his father but also his mentor. I'm too old for this anyway." Now he KNOWS Luke is going to train and go after Vader to destroy what he (Obi-Wan) created and couldn't destroy himself. How about THAT theory?
I just want to point out, Kev, that the smirk Obi-Wan gives when he sees Luke, Leia, Han, and all boarding the ship.... also represents the only time in the movies where BOTH of Anakin's children are in his presence, and he doesn't even know it. Only Kenobi himself knows that secret.
Hi Jon, absolutely mate, I never really thought about. Yeah, both his children are there for that one moment in the franchise...makes it even more iconic!
It's absolutely phenomenal mate, when Obi Wan and Anakins voices come over from Revenge of the Sith at the end gives me goosebumps! Glad you enjoyed it bro
My only issue is the use of the name Anakin. While we know that Vader is Anakin, the audience in '77 weren't to know that yet so it feels out of place. Other than that it is an excellent use of the ROTS voice over.
I know exactly what you mean. This is phenomenal. You've already paid it the highest compliment it can get really by literally almost not being able to breathe and not able to speak. It is a stunning piece of work. It almost comes out the screen at you and the production values like you say are incredible. So glad you saw this. I would love you to watch this with Lewis. He will be amazed.
The first time I watched this it melted my brain. I was sitting there, mouth agape, unable to speak or think, simply awestruck. I highly recommend the cinematic trailers for Knights of the old Republic, they are magnificent as well ;)
I was afraid you were gonna have a heart attack! I've lost count how many times I've re-watched this. It shows how much love fans have for Star Wars to produce something of this calibre. You can really see Annakin/Vader's hatred for Obi-Wan here. I mean, Vader friggin punches him in the face a few times! And the lines of dialogue from Episode 3 at the end really add some emotional punch to this scene. I'm glad you liked it.
Glad you watched this. I know how much you appreciated this as you watched it. I had a fun time picking out the new footage from the old as well as figuring out where all the Vader audio was culled from (the original trilogy as well as the animated Star Wars: Rebels). There are like a jillion views for this.....and I think I'm responsible for at least a million of them. My pants got tight every time I watched it. Now on to "Vader: Shards Of The Past". You will NOT be disappointed! There's even a teaser trailer for Chapter 2 that's amazing.
Hi mate, yeah I absolutely loved this and my jaw was almost on the floor the whole of the video. I will watch this many times I can tell you that. I will deffo watch Shards of the past mate as that has been recommended quite a few times as well :)
@@SofaandChill Star Wars Theory really nailed it with that one. Such an epic visual "cliffhanger" at the end, too. All it did was drive the fans nuts, wanting more. His trailer for Chapter 2 got even MORE people whipped into a frenzy. Watch 'em both in the same sitting (if you can). It just shows that talent is out there...yet, sadly, not all the talent works for Lucasfilm. SWT is one of those guys that just seems genuine to the core. It's half the reason he has millions of subs!
I told you you would love that scene 38 reimagined. Just imagine a group of fans made this content and it is better than anything Disney has done since they’ve taken over. When George Lucas added new scenes to Star Wars this quite possibly should’ve been something he should’ve done. I realize some people like the originals so there should’ve been an option to see it as originally made or with the new additions giving fans the ultimate choice of how they like it.
Anakin.... has really become scary, over the last 20 years. It really does show, how much HE himself, and we still do, all believe Darth Vader, as someone else.
I just had a thought... Vader hearing Obi-Wan’s voice calling “Run Luke Run” is the moment (in this fan film) when he realised that he could hear Kenobi’s voice after slaying him in battle - this could also explain how Vader is able to relate Luke to Obi-Wan. It’s never really explained in the OT how knew the connection when he said “He is just a boy. Obi-Wan can no longer help him”...
Fantastic reaction man, the scene really floored you..! xD But yeah it's a great fan edit, and you can really sense Vader's fury and hate in his fighting style. :)
Yep, this is still amazing to watch, the attention to detail is just perfect. That ending though still has me tearing up though with the voices from episode 3 playing in the background just highlighting what happened 20 years before that in the story. Love your reaction as always though, think your the most excited person I’ve seen react to this, could see your heart sink in the same place mine did as well knowing what was coming with the voices 😂
The best scene in Star Wars. Single handedly destroys the Disney Sequel trilogy in just over 6 minutes. The Luke hallway scene owes its success to this shorts recipe. You can cleverly bring old characters back as long as they *STAY IN CHARACTER*. This moment between Vader and Kenobi bridges the prequels and originals together beautifully, and Lucasfilm should formally add this scene to a New Hope.
Now knowing the full story, this is definitely how a lot of fans wanted a duel between Vader and Obi-Wan to go. It's nothing against ANH because back then, the full story wasn't made yet, and the props used for the duel were pretty fragile, so the actors had to be careful with them. But now knowing that Vader was Anakin and knowing that Obi-Wan was the reason he was forced to wear that suit, fans believed that a true duel with proper equipment would have gone something along these lines; Vader boiling over with fury and Obi-Wan keeping pace with his defense.
Absolutely mate, I have only started watching them recently (As you are all well aware lol) but I thought that it would have been amazing to have seen a full on fight between Obi-Wan and Vader. At least we get a sense of what it would have gone like. Amazing work from these guys!
@@SofaandChill Of course. That's why I mentioned it. If you love Vikings, you'd definitely love Black Sails. Without giving major spoilers, it's a prequel show to Treasure Island; showing how Captain Flint got that treasure, who John Silver was before he became Long John, all while interacting with historic pirates like Charles Vane, Jack Rackham, Anne Bonny, Blackbeard, Ned Low, etc. The battles are especially well done. (Edit) Wouldn't recommend watching with your son, though. There is some nudity (prostitutes at a brothel) and graphic injuries. It's basically like Game of Thrones, but with pirates.
There are some big jems out there like this fan film. Kenobi fan film should be a great transition to follow after ROTS same with Vader episode 1 Shards of the past which that takes place 8 months after the movie and Anakin's fall to the dark side
but great reaction. Its one of my favorite fan made cinematics, only "Darth Maul: Apprentice" tops this one. Imagine he would to the same for the cloud city fight in ep 5 and the death star one in ep 6
Hi mate, yeah absolutely loved this. I have heard Darth Maul: Apprentice is also really good so might have to watch that one next. As long as it gives no spoilers to anything else lol
What I find so funny about this is that it's gotten nearly universal praise from fans, but if George Lucas had actually done this, they'd have all screamed about how Lucas ruined the scene and bemoaned their poor, stupid childhoods. The production value on this is really quite impressive, but they didn't really make an effort to match the way Lucas shoots, so the new shots really stick out...all those knee-level, uplooking shots are totally unlike the way Lucas would frame a scene; you'd only get a low-angle shot like that if there was a short character involved, such as when Yoda fights Palpatine. Similarly, the slow sideways gliding shots don't fit Lucas's style, and the original shot of Ben being cut down was much more dramatic...not sure why they felt the need to redo that one.
The lightsabers in the original trilogy weren't the best for hitting at one point, (this is in return of the jedi) Mark Hamill's (Luke Skywalker) lightsaber broke and had to be re-shot. You can look it up on youtube. The effects on how they made the original trilogy is an amazing story in itself
Hey also take a look at the new trailer for the Star Wars Eclipse game, it is really worth to watch. Keep your love for Star Wars strong and continue to have fun.
Yeah this ones a good time, the Original fight was always one of the weakest's bit of the OT for me so seeing it remade felt good, even if it is a touch over the top in parts. Vader feels more like a true Sith here, when a new hope was filmed I don't think the Sith had even been thought out fully. So growing up and exploring their practices as a kid in video games, Vader always came off as sort of toned down in the OT You should check out some of the spoofs of Starwars at some point. Robot Chicken had a few episodes dedicated to SW skits and Family Guy redid the OT, "Blue Harvest", "Something something something Darkside" and "It's a Trap". And then obviously there's the classic "Space Balls" by Mel Brooks. The robot chicken ones are freaking HILARIOUS though, Boba gets a lightsaber, Force ghost Jar-Jar, a 'Your Momma' fight just to name a few. =P
It's great that you're doing these "short films" or UA-cam edits, but do be careful for spoilers and such. Maybe before planning to watch something, ask in Patreon if it's safe to do so ;)
