I recently had a guy give me a bunch of his dads old records. I took them all. Filled my truck three times hauling them home. What I learned was... TAKE EVERYTHING.
Going through them at home in my garage I found a mint copy of Natural High 1 (had no idea who they were but that record apparently sells for $300+) stamped as a DJ COPY, DO NOT SELL. A PROMO copy of Zeppelin 4 in a plain white jacket, White label PROMO of Tyton: Mind Over Metal with the original promo sticker and band photo, a still sealed copy of South Paw (a Louisiana based Southern rock band from the late 70's) worth about $125.
You never know what you're gonna find... just TAKE EM ALL and go through them at home where you can be more meticulous.

I agree. I try to always get them all if I can. Luckily i have a big barn/storage room to help store it all or I wouldn't be able to.

That box of 78's looked interesting. I imagine there were a few Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, Jimmy Dorsey, etc etc, in there. Maybe a few 1950's vocal groups too. Looked good.

Same here, I would have grabbed a ton more. I've been collecting for 40 years now and even in the vinyl-hating 90s, so my knowledge always expands. Stuff I wouldn't have given a second look 10 years ago, are now grails

Impressive find. Still fun just to look through it. Someone sure had a collection. It seems even now, they aren't as wanted as they used to be. I picked up a Joe Walsh once.
Glad to see that it worked out and having a friend help out a bonus. I would 've asked the owner on the first visit if he would allow you to bring power tools to cut some of that shelving for stacking the boxes inside the van. He did provide you with a generator and no worries about heavy boxes stacked on top of each other wrecking the albums. Many years ago I had the glorious opportunity of going through two trailers, only to find moldy records due to freakin' leaking roof. Anyways congrats and hope you find some more grails.

Im glad to hear you're tryin to make a deal for most of them i know you gotta buy stuff that is easy sellers but i have several thousands albums spanning many genres and many decades going back to early 50s i kinda stop into late 80s for albums otherwise i just have some songs on my phone i like a little bit of everything even the johnny mathis types which is great bc you find that stuff for cheap we all have different tastes and things were lookin for some of the greatest music you can find for pretty cheap if you look..
We ended up purchasing the whole trailer so we own all of the contents now

Surprised that whole lot wasn’t warped? Being in a trailer in Las Vegas for any length of time would be intensely hot, unless it was literally for 30 seconds in the middle of January
We bought the entire trailer and surprisingly very little warped. Some water damaged from a leak in a corner. Vinyl doesnt typically warp unless hit with direct sunlight. Average warmth usually don't affect it.

I noticed around 15:16 you guys were standing beside a box of RCA Videodiscs.
I woulda scooped those too. Unless they were thrashed like those AC⚡DC albums.
They're there! But yeah some are trashed and the films weren't really that interesting. We always grab the sci fi horror ones when we see them!

If you ever come across used blank videotapes that people record on, i buy those don't trash them!! Love watching mystery tapes. Home videos, old tv stuff..never know whats on them...especially old mtv!! Betamax tapes even better!!

Amazing to watch so many US record vids where people are so completely out of the loop in terms of rare records. In this around the 12 min mark he goes sailing past the Manilla Machine LP- I just can't watch anymore. Mind you all the best to you.

The rate,one of a kind, forgotten gems that must be hidden in the shuffle. There has to be at least one that would fetch a hefty sum at auction or have a place in a historical archive.

Meanwhile, out here in Los Angeles ANYTHING vinyl is going for five bucks and up, even the wrecked Herb Alperts & Barbra Streisands. As for the contents of those trailers, forget it! There are people who would put it all under lock & key and hiss that they want "serious buyers only".

Curious, trailers being from Vegas, baking in the sun have you noticed on closer inspection heat warpage?

Honestly havent noticed any bad warps. I left behind the trashed ones. Direct sunlight will warp a record but usually dry heat in the dark is fine as long as it isnt too hot. Being stacked like this tho can warp overtime. Thanks for watching!

Had to give up on this, when the dude said "No...No" to a Partride Family album, right after getting excited about a very common Violent Femmes album. Kids...
Lemme see here. I have those same Patridge Family albums in my shop for $3 still sitting in the bins, while that violent femmes sold for $60 in a few days of putting it out. You'll be relieved to know we got the Patridge Family album when we went back and bought the entire trailer full. (In another video)

I covered all that in the beginning of the video. We paid for the records we bought. This guy bought the trailers for the storage at an online auction. It just so happened they were filled with contents that he wants gone. Thanks for watching!

Probably 10% for our own collection and the rest for shop. We have a rather large personal collection and much like many collectors are running out of room! Lol
