Love the commentary about timing and not overworking it!I One note - I do love when you show the palette during these to see the consistency of the mix (heavy/watery) etc. Really helps me in the planning of my mixes when I attempt to give it a shot.
This: 'The more fresh you can paint the better vs the more you mess with it the less pleasing it's going to be and the more overworked.' yes and that's why I need loads of watercolour practice to get that magic I can achieve with minimal brush strokes in acrylics. With acrylics I'm much more relaxed because I know I can paint over it, but ironically it means I don't overwork. I need to get that level of confidence with watercolour. 🙏💛
Matthew, thank you again for sharing your love and knowledge of painting. Every time I am amazed at your ability to communicate the scene through your mastery of color. This painting really passes the squint test. Just squint and suddenly it's like I am standing there.
Matthew. I really like to watch your videos. You are so calm and transmit me a feel of serenity. Thanks a lot. Your paintings are very subtle. Please paint more landscapes. Can I ask you what brush'mark do you use ? To do the sky you used a synthetic brush?
The shapes of the clouds are very different. The colours are somewhat similar. But you need to get the values right, otherwise it probably will look weird.
You’ve achieved a realistic painting, despite not fiddling with every detail. I work with Saunders blocks, so wetting each side isn’t something I’d be comfortable with. What alternatives do you suggest for Cobalt Turquoise in the green mix? Thanks again.
Love your work, I am learning a lot! What kind of paper do you use that you don’t need to actually immerse it in water and let it dry. Seems to work with wetting back and front so I’d like to try that!
What type of board do you use for your paintings. I have one of those glass mats on my desk and I couldn’t seem to get my paper to stay flat when putting water on both sides and wondered if I needed more of a sealed wood surface or if my gator board would work
The hardest part of a sunset for me is getting my color strong enough without making it look like a circus. It's frustrating to say the least. Skies are my nemesis.
The „chip away“ thing is the key to succesful negative painting. You need to pay a little bit more attention doing it, because when you overdo it, there is not an easy way back :)
I have a question regarding periodical publications on watercolor. Someone told me today there are publications out there on watercolor but they could not recall the publication name. Do you know of any watercolor publications that you feel are worth the read? I am new to watercolor and want to immerse myself in it as much as possible. Digital materials don’t work as well for me when I work remotely so paper publications are the best for me personally. Thank you

You inspire me!
The painting is way more beautiful than the reference photo, it is si vibrant and really gives you that early summer vibe.
Superb! So helpful to have your explanations and insights, especially with the pigments you use.

Very good 'clean' demo. Nice pic. Thanks for sharing.
So beautiful, Matthew. Thank you so much!!
I’m eager to try the green mix. And adding birds is a great way to cover accidental paint drops!

3:14 don’t feel bad if your sky doesn’t look exactly like the photo “- as his painting looks exactly like the reference! Amazing 🤩

Just mix the same colour :) If your aim is not to get some special effects, the colours in the mix really do not matter at all :)
@@johnytwo that's bonkers, of course the pigments matter because colour is important

Immerse? I have not yet heard anybody doing it. But why not.

The good thing is that they are very quick to paint. Is it possible to glaze the strong colours to mute them?
👍👍👍👍
Are the guide lines and tips given ,applicable to acrylics ?
It depends :)

Weird I painted a sky that went green yesterday 😂

Try your local library. Once you find one that you like you could subscribe to it.
can someone tell me how his paints mix so well? mine just turn to an ugly colour
What paints turn to what ugly colour?
Your cursor is very distracting. Other than that, your presentations and artwork are fantastic.
Large head.
He probably knows
