- In this video I show you the step by step process of painting a quick and loose watercolor landscape in what’s called “a spontaneous landscape”. Learn more about what a spontaneous landscape is, how to create your own, and how to paint this one in the video.

Fantastic to watch, I’m sure you’ve been painting for many years which is why your work and how you manipulate the colours on the page work so well.
It’s frustrating as an artist when I watch others do their work and then try to emulate it, it doesn’t look as good and then I feel like I’ve failed.
As they say, “practice makes perfect.” Thank you sharing.
Thank you so much Kristin for that spontaneous art piece
Even halfway through it looked so beautiful and intriguing. I'm more of a realistic artist but definitely will try this. The end result is really amazing! Thank you for the video ❤
Thank you so much Kristin. I've just started a new color palette and I've been trying to decide how to do the color studies for each of the pigments that I've chosen. Along with loose swatches that explore the color and then loose swatches with some of that color's "friends" this idea of a spontaneous landscape to practice and use the key color and its friends to build a spontaneous landscape.
Yes I feel like a limited palette was made for spontaneous paintings. Enjoy!
This is beautiful, a little mysterious!
Very nicely presented and helpful. Thank you!
Beautiful!!
Love it!
Love this👩🎨
I wonder if I will ever get to the point that the water and the colours are letting me know what to do ...
Question: I've not seen any UA-cam videos that talk about what's done with the painting AFTER it's created. By that I mean do you frame it? Do you mat and frame? Do you mat your own? Do you think about the size before selecting the size paper for the piece? Any information about this would be greatly appreciated as I have stacks of paintings, some I'm happy with many I'm not (I've only been doing watercolor for a year now) that I might like to do something with, I think. 🙂
Hi! Sometimes I sell them or give them to friends or frame them for myself. I typically paint in framable sizes like 5x7”, 8x10” etc. and I often use them as cards and write on the back
Jus a little quesrion thank you
How do you spare the sheets of paper from the block? I think i get the same but mine are glu together.
Merci from Western Australia
Are you asking how to remove the painting from the glue? Once the painting has dried there’s a little space on the pad that isn’t glued down and you can slip something underneath (like the end of a paintbrush) to release the one page from the block. My block game with a separator tool so that’s what I use
Elinize emeğinize sağlık, merak ettim; bu manzarayı doğaçlama mı yapıyorsunuz yoksa esinlenerek mi ?
Total improvising based on how the colors flow
@@kristinvanleuven aman Allahım bu müthiş, bravo
I thought this was called intuitive painting? 🎨🖌️
I would say it’s very similar. Intuitive painting to me is knowing how to paint something without over thinking so your brush strokes are more organic. There are definitely parts of that in this painting. Where a painting becomes more spontaneous I think is when you let the colors flow and there’s not really anything you can do but go with it. Less about your knowledge and more about experimenting with flow and seeing what happens. That’s just how I view it!
@@kristinvanleuvenThank you. I really like this and the colors are perfect! ❤️❤️
