The tree looked great. I got my Twombly's Red Sentinel yesterday from Home Depot. It looked similar. These cultivars are usually vigorous and grow relatively fast. It will be a great specimen even this year. I see plenty of new leaves are growing on my tree
I took a closer look today at the root system. Both of them are dead, it’s just hasn’t fully dried up but they will. It’s sad cause I wanted to get them better. Zero to hero series began and ended with one video. I will have the video ready soon. 😭😭😭
@Maplenutz I am sorry to hear that the roots seem dead in both of your Red Sentinels. I followed your advice on making sure the plant's graft union is not planted below ground. The plants I received -- Emperor 1 and Twombly's Red Sentinel, had their graft union buried too deep. I had to correct that during repotting. The Red Sentinel has new leaves emerging. I am hoping that it will survive. We will see

Thats really bad luck. Sorry to hear. My twombleys from home depot was perfect, but sango kaku had similar issues.
Btw, did you also get a fish net wrap on the root ball? Does that need to be cut out?
I haven’t seen any fish net in mines. I’ll check on that later on when I start my Zero to Hero series.
Much better on that one. I got Seiryu from Mr. Maple for $45 and it was about 8 ft. I was astonished when I got it.
Japanese Princess came in today, and it is beautiful!
Monday, I have Goshike Kotohime and a Dwarf Hinoki Cypress (Chiriman) coming in. On Thursday, I have Baby Ghost coming in.

I want to do the opposite to my Beni-Chidori and bury it above the graft to develop a new flair; is that possible?
I don't really want to air or ground layer the main trunk because it's a really valuable cultivar.
Results may vary. I don’t recommend it
