    Stuff we use:
CAMERA - This is the camera we have used to film 90+% of our interviews (over 200 interviews and counting) It continues to be our workhorse - amzn.to/2u66V1J
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2tbtmOq
    AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post amzn.to/2t1n2hx
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/2tbFlM9
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2u5UnHv
COMPUTER - Our favorite computer, we each have one and have used various models since 2010 - amzn.to/2t1M67Z
EDITING - We upgraded our editing suite this year and we’re glad we did! This has improved our workflow and the quality of our work. Having new software also helps when we have a problem, it’s easy to search and find a solution - goo.gl/56LnpM

He didn't have an answer so he kept trying to talk about villans. His only advise was basically 'don't make your characters one dimensional'. Personally, I think the best thing for a horror protagonist , besides the interviewer's suggestion of likability, is vulnerability. Horror video games don't give you weapons for a reason. When you're vulnerable the monsters are scary af, but once you have a gun, suddenly you turn into an action hero. The viewer or reader will always feel more fear for a helpless little girl than a badass soldier.

So the vulnerability of the protagonist reflects how scary the antagonist is in a horror story?
      I couldn't agreed more.
No wonder why I 'liked' Pennywise so much. Children are defenceless, until the children in the IT story proved otherwise.

@@Leto85 That's a much better way of putting it, since it factors in Eldritch abominations wherein whether you have a gun/weapon or not is irrelevant because this thing is like unstoppable...

A good horror protagonist is a good person having a really bad day. A lot of people like morally gray characters, but I like to write good people going through horrifying events. You really feel for them because they dont deserve whats happening and you hope they will survive even you get sad of the trauma they'll keep.

I think writing a great horror antagonistic character will be (depending on the theme of the story) someone who like most good antagonists opposes the protagonist in a very personal way, but is ready to reach that goal to an even higher extreme than antagonists in non-horror stories do.
And this extreme is fleshed out in all its blood and gore more so than in thrillers because we're talking horror here.
Relatability might work, but I think that also depends on the theme.
I give two examples of who in my opinion are great horror antagonists, but couldn't be more different form each other:
    Example relatable antagonist
    Jigsaw, from the Saw series.
His motivation: 'I want to teach people how to appreciate the lives that they have.'
His methods: physically and mentally torturing them until they either die or find a way to escape both Jigsaw's traps and their own depression.
I find Jigsaw a good horror antagonist because his motivations is relatable (NOT his methods) and such people could exist.
    Example not relatable character
    Pennywise, from IT.
His motivation: survival by feasting on children's flesh and fear.
His methods: luring children in his trap to carry out his motivation.
I find Pennywise a good horror antagonist because he perverses exactly that what could otherwise be a child's best friend; a clown.
So I love both Jigsaw and Pennywise alike and each for completely different reasons.

I like morally grey characters too. I’m actually writing a script where the protagonist and the bully eventually become friends.

Bruh Freddys Dead was trashhhhh. #2 and or #4 are leagues above Freddys Dead. Rachel Talalay was in way over her head on that movie an couldnt even finish it because of medical reasons. The final product shows. I love the franchise also but felt Freddys dead is executed the worst an Dream Child (part5) is a close second but outside of that an the remake the franchise is all bangers

The first one is incredibly frightening and genius in how Freddie hunts his victims with images of the previous victims. The concept of stalking someone in their dreams where they can’t get away in their subconscious is a very unique and terrifying story line that makes the first movie the most classic and possibly the best of the franchise.

      3 and 4 for me.
3 because everyone had unique powers. It was kinda X Men ish. But like 10 years before the whole Marvel phase. Dream Warriors.
4 because it was so entertaining to me. The Dream Master.
I think all those movies were comical though. Freddy/Jason/ Halloween movies never scared me. It was the 70's Exorcist and The Omen that were scary.
