I'm so sad you are giving up your page 😥 I just found you yesterday, and I have already binge-watched almost 20 of your videos 😅 I love your sense of humour, your humility, your down to earth approach to filming and of course your frugal content 🙏 Thank you 💚
Don’t worry I’m back! X
Your channel came up in my suggested videos today and I'm so glad it did. Really enjoying this incredible £1 a day budget food challenge. I honestly couldn't imagine it would be possible, but with imagination and ingenuity you're doing it brilliantly.
I just love your positivity, and gentle spirit. Your beautiful cat is so blessed to have you!
Yay! Thank you! X
I saw caterpillars on your parsley🤣🤣🤣 Great way to up your protein intake 🤣🤣🤣
Omg 😦
Saw that too
@@helenefrench579 also saw him/her!!
There's 2 baby caterpillars at 8.30
Oh dear, so there is
extra protein! I always also soak blackberries in salty water to bring out any maggots.
Omg!!!! 😧😧😧😧 I must have eaten them whaaaat!!!
I now need to do this omg xx
@@cscasablanca1yes good idea. I use a white vinegar/Water solution and soak all berries, foraged foods or homegrown foods in it for 10 minutes to cleanse everything, then rinse in clean water and pat dry. Does the job well, and helps preserve the foods longer in the fridge too.
You are so entertaining, 'riding the horse of life' , I know exactly what you mean! Good luck bringing in some new business xx
Thank you so much!! Xx
If you go tescos and there's a yo sushi bit you can help yourself to soya sauce wasabi and pickled ginger x
Oooh amazing tip xx
Your doing a fab job and really inspiring. Just goes to show what you can do with very little money. You have really made me think about what i buy and my food wastage...
Ah brill! That’s the aim of the game
What's your pastry recipe honey? xx
Well this week pastry was: plain flour, lard rubbed into bread crumbs. Mix with tap water. Knead. Done x
I used: plain flour, lard mixed into the flour as breadcrumbs, add tap water, knead. Done!
@@TheBudgetFoodie did you use measurements or eyeball it?
I would love to try making your quiche, I've not had one in years since I found out I could nip longer take dairy & by Jove I've missed it Your ideas (crispy onion skin) are amazing, keep up the good work xx
Loved your singing to the cat 😍 I love my fur babies too ☺️
Haha yes I’m obsessed with my cat 🐈⬛ 😂❤️😻
Free protein, a delicacy in some countries. I love how raw and real you are, very entertaining 😁👍
Thanks so much! 😊 omg the caterpillars
FYI, if you have soft carrots, apparently if you cut the ends off and submerge them in cold water for a while they rehydrate, i saw this on a hack recently, i haven't trued it yet but certainly will next time i have a floppy carrot 😂😂 x
Ooh fab tip! X
You are very creative with your limited budget. Also, had me laughing when you said..."I have the Beige Banquet for lunch" 🙂
Love that! Haha so much beige
Love your ideas and positivity . Well done and keep upbthe vids x
Thank you! Will do! Z
Blackberry leaves are a good substitute for black tea apparently if they're fermented, there's a technique to it which you could read about. You can also make a substitute coffee from dandelion roots.
Ooohhh interesting x
keep your fresh mozzarella cheese in water with a bit of salt. change it every 2-3 days. I read about this once and do it now and it lasts for a long while.
Ah great tip x
All those dishes look really good ! I would never think of doing those but will be giving them a try now !
Please do!
Hi Rechenda, loving the daily videos, you’re amazing. A great protein source on a budget could be lentils, to keep in your store cupboard and provide loads of protein in many different meals such as soup and lentil daal. Xx
Oooh yes lentils xx
Jack is a very fancy boi! I’m sure he loves your singing, my cat has the same look when I make up songs about her
He fancy xx
I'm more impressed by the amazing creativity of your cooking, than the extreme budget. 😄👍🏻
Thank you so much 😊
Loving this series Rechenda, super inspiring ❤xx
Glad you enjoy it!
Great video I’m enjoying these very much.
Glad you like them!
Love your kitchen colours
Thank you 😊
Love watching your vids. In another universe, we'd be mates, for sure 😊. I LOVE all things foody! If you can come by a batch of fresh tomatoes 🍅, I put tons of them in a baking tray, bit of oil and whole peeled garlic cloves and roast low-and-slow (I've also been known to add in onion wedges and peppers). Then blitz it all to a pulp, add any herbs/seasonings of your choice. Then use til your heart's content.....spag bol (vege, meat), stirred through pasta with cheese of choice on top, lasagne, a base for curries, meatballs.....I freeze it in portions. Lush 😋. Will be tuning in for tomorrow's budget delights 😊
That sounds delicious, thank you Lea xx
Great ideas with your budget...loving watching this
Thanks so much! 😊
New subscriber here 🇬🇧 I’m enjoying these £1 a day videos. Recently moved & money has become tight, not on the breadline but need to save & cut back etc so I’m going to try this challenge but prob make it £10 and use the condiment’s I already have in my cupboard. I remember picking blackberries in my childhood.. such fond memories & baking bread/pastry with my Mum..Thanks for the tip on the Olio app 👍🏻 oh I also have a cat called Poppy 🐈
Welcome aboard! Xx
@@TheBudgetFoodie Thank you! X
You are doing a sterling, creative job with £1. Xx
😊 thank you
8:34 is that extra protein with the caterpillar?? Good to stay healthy 😜 loving your videos ✌️
🐛
Noticed that 😂 was worried
I’ve only found you recently on here but I’ve got to say YOU’RE TOO ADORABLE
Aww thank you, ☺️ xx
@@TheBudgetFoodie anytime, you’re welcome! You’re smashing your challenges and it’s inspiring

The pizza looked delicious! Not so sure about the caterpillar salad though hehe
Me neither hehe xxx
You should have WAAAAAY more subs! You’re epic!!

So inspiring, Rechenda. Jack is still adorable ❤
Jack says hi 🐾
Enjoying the budget journey with you and Jack🐈⬛🇦🇺
Thank you Aussie friend x
Very successful day 3!
Yay! X
Yum I love rice pudding and it's filling and it will keep you going 😊 that dinner sounds nice I used to do that put tomato and cheese and ham and mayonnaise on the wrap pizza I make and it was so nice
Sounds great! Yes yummy love rice pud x
You are doing really well but I think if you gave yourself 10 pounds rather than 7 you could have more protein giving you a fuller feeling. You have been wonderfully creative and a pleasure to watch.
Thank you Barbara x
All the comments are a good source of info too . Thanks
I love reading and learning from them too x
*bowl of fresh water goes here* 🐱
You are very inspiring ❤️❤️👍👍
Thank you! 😊
Very inventive, love Jack.
Jack says hi 🐾
Super content! You are motivating me - I’ve been cooking more lately. Hello to Jack and do keep those videos coming. Take care!
Thank you! Happy cooking x Jack says hi 🐾
Good homemade flatbread pizza!🙌🌟
So good!
Free yeast in Tesco bakery just ask
Ooh I didn’t know this x
Just recently found you and loving your content, super inspiring and like many comments above it’s making think about what I use 👍🏼 I have used the Too good to go app recently and I would love to see you do a challenge on this for a week…top tip Morrisons bags are good for circa £3.29 I usually get x2 but can be duplicates but not tried the market kitchen one yet…defo be an interesting experiment to see how it goes, keep doing what you do your awesome and funny ☺️
Oh great idea what sort of things did you get in the bag? X
😻😻😻
It’s really a treasure hunt 🤣 you don’t know what you get 🤷🏼♀️ I have not tried all the supermarkets yet?
But in my Morrisons bags I got so much 😱 ready meals, veg, bread, crisps all sorts but it is pot luck, check out the app in your area, I’m not sponsored lol 😂 (the best time to order for the next day is usually the evenings but have a google on how it all works) I think this would make an interesting experiment for your content 👍🏼 x
Im always wondering what the nutritional data is for these challenges. Are you getting enough calories vitamins etc?
I don’t know I hope so but I fear I’m not eating enough fruit and veg x
This great for many that don't have anything tucked away.
War times are on us try this and build on it.
God won't let us down butvwhat was MANNA just food for the body do we really need the processed extras?
Exactly x
I love this. I think you're doing so well. Just one question, 'Did you have 2 lunches?'
Yes I did haha. One early and one late x
Omg. Did you not see the catipillar 😱😱
No I didn’t 🤮🤮🤮
It won’t hurt her😂
Just curious. Why does your budget challenge not allowed to use some staples like sugar, coffee or margarine? Most people have those items in their home. You could have used maybe some kind of canned tuna or meat instead of the lard you purchased for 50 p.
Some great ideas there I can take forward to the next challenge for sure xx
Pure white...whipped cream... burrata & Mozzarella.... coconut..... now I'm hungry hehehe Jacques Mexico
Sounds great!
Store carrots in water and they stay hard and fresh for weeks
Yay, the flatbread pizza worked in the oven & looked yummy. Don't think the little caterpillar, on the fennel, looked as yummy though😂😂 Might taste ok & it is protein🤷♀️ My mum used to say "only so much dirt will kill you, you'll survive"😂😂
I know omg I was shocked about the wildlife in my herbs!
U e got me being more creative with all my leftover bits and bobs and we've ended up stretching the budget and not having to shop as often
Brilliant!!! Xxx
Hi , great video, where are your lovely pjs from? Would love more clothing haul vids and day in the life vids! ❤
Oh ok I shall throw some of those into the mix! After I’ve finished this challenge tho I’ll need a lie down lol 😝
PJs were from Vinted
I think you should allow yourself spices and herbs from the cupboard. They are not something you buy every week, chances are most people have some tuck away.
I know I was being sooo strict but next time I will xx
@@TheBudgetFoodie first time watching your channel, love seeing the different grocery stores from us in Canada.
If you've had a stock cube you could have made a rice, egg and carrot soup.
I haven’t got one but I could use the spice mix? X
You had ingredients for pancakes x
Ah! X
@@TheBudgetFoodie now watched the last one lol
did you see the little wormon your garden greens
Yes oh my goodness but only after I did the filming eek! Xx
Caterpillars from the garden greenery 😂😂😂😂
I know 😳😝😝😝
Something moved!!! The fennel or whatever you were saying 😫
Oooh yes it was a caterpillar
Why didn't you buy oats and pasta?
I can make pasta from flour and water
Have you ever tried to roast dandilion roots? Tastes exactly like coffe ☕️☕️
I haven’t I will look this up x
@@TheBudgetFoodie you won't be disappointed xx
You can use the leaves in salads & put the flowers in a tempura batter & fry, like you would a courgette flower.
Saw those little inch worms in your rice dish other than that it looks good.
Worms! Omg!
@@TheBudgetFoodie I washed a punnet of strawberries a couple of weeks ago, two black bugs trying their best not to drown, down the sink they went. Sort of gone off strawberries now, but I now put them in a big bowl of water, so anything in there will float and I can see them. After your parsley, I'll put my herbs in a big bowl of cold water too. Hope yours were tasty... lol
I just spotted it, all extra protein 🤣
@@lexy7294it's OK whole just don't take a half bite lol
Oh goodness, hope you spared the caterpillar 🐛🙈
I did! Haha x
2 lunches? 😳
Yeah I did a pre lunch about 11am then another at 3pm cos I had a meeting at 12 xx
I made some chocolate muffins todays, put them in the oven to bake n realised I hadn’t added the fat lol, they are rather stuck in their cases n very stiff texture lol (I was tired - have long Covid fatigue/brainfog) oh dear….
I’d still eat them! Craving chocolate nom x
Lard is an excellent product but even that became expensive
50p for a block of lard in my parts x
Now known as the crazy cat & caterpillar lady hehe :) 🌸 😊 🎉
Haha 😛 xx
Meow to Jack. I have a Kitty too.
Jack says meow back lol xx
@@TheBudgetFoodie 😽
Your raspberries are blackberries lol
Yes lol oops x
Blackberries not raspberries
I know I got confused lol x
I've been subbed for a week or so, I guess. So I haven't caught up to real time on your vids yet. Just out of interest, though. Why are you doing this? Are you trying to slim down, by any chance, or are you, perhaps, currently finding yourself on a budget? Or might you be resisting the consumerist malarkey?
God bless.
Welcome! Trying to save for a house deposit but things keep coming up and I’m always back to square one it seems. I have a decent job/work for myself but because I live alone and rent is so high and all my outgoings are crazy I am always struggling to save x
I'm concerned about you not having enough protein this week. Can you just supplement with a couple chicken breasts from your freezer? I know that would put you a little above the 7.00, but protein is so important. You are doing simply amazing!
Unfortunately I don’t have any chicken breast left :( I do have 5 eggs left tho x 🍳
@@TheBudgetFoodie maybe you can give it a little thought and take a few pounds(?) And just get some meat. You may suffer from fatigue without your protein. 5 eggs, and it is only Tuesday. Said without criticism, just your best in mind.
Not gotta hurt her for one week to have a bit less protein
@hayleykelly1754 I'm sure you're right. Everyone is different. It really affects me literally in a day, so I was concerned.
I’m sooo tired right now x
blackberries not rasberries
Ahh yes my bad
