Whilst the Jimny excelled on my last drive, I had quite a few concerns as I made my way towards Yercaud’s 20 steep hairpin bends. Would the vehicle run out of breath on the ascend, would its wide(r) turning radius be able to tackle the narrow twisties? Well, only way to find out, watch the vlog. 😀
Happy motoring and let me know what you thought of the drive and the Jimny’s performance in the comments below!

I love south indians they are so polite ,well mannered ,honest and down to earth people. So you are❤
😂😂😂😂
Kabhie Chennai aur Bengaluru mein 2 mahina rehke dekho phir bolo😂
@@3rdclasstatamahindrabajajREI agree with your opinion, generally South Indians are polite and kind. South India is generally safe. I am not comfortable traveling in North India.
Food + Travel + Long Drives in a SUV is happiness… wishing you many more such adventures across Bharath!
Hi Kripal.Your vlog is like a memory rush for me.I was born and brought up in Salem and now live in Bagdogra,District Darjeeling.I got nostalgic seeing images of Yercaud that I remember from the 60s and 80s.Yercaud was a raw hill station destination and seems so developed now.
I own a Jimmy Alpha AT as well and drive extensively in the hills/mountains in my backyard, hence the observation and suggestions - in the hills especially twisties,do use the OD off option in conjunction with L/2 and you will remain in a healthier torque band thereby making the vehicle more driveable especially under planned overtaking.
Your aphrension regarding turning circle in the twisties was also my own concern which was dispelled in the first foray into the mountains. The AT is a phantom under adverse conditions and a boon especially with no clutch to manipulate and more brain time to judge the road ahead especially with unreasonable downhill drivers we are so accustomed to seeing all over.
The need to take a wide turn especially for long wheel base vehicles,is so common in Tamilnadu and is a local diktat which is confusing for non locals,I suppose.EvenvNepal has weird overtaking local norms which involve a series of dipping head lights and appropriate turn indicator flashing by both the vehicles involved during the manoeuvre .Happy Jimnying and vlogging.
Hi Anil, nice to know you're a Jimny AT compatriot too. And going by your comment, you seem to have a fair bit of driving experience as well. Thank you for the tips. On this stretch of the ghat, I didn't feel the need to stick in the lower engine band, but yes, for steeper and long inclines, switching o/d off would work well, and also low gearing. Will keep in mind for the future. Driving in the hills and mountains around Darjeeling must be both challenging and exhilarating as well. I hope to get to that part of the country some day. Cheers!
Yes Kripal, you are right, the Jimny engine and mechanicals are really deceptive. There is enough torque and grunt in this rear wheel drive beauty,to get you there without fuss. For added drama you have four wheel drive high and low, thrown into the cook pot.
Happy to give you pointers to the North East anytime.Regards.
Couldn't agree more. Thank you.
One of your strengths is cinematography, I'm extremely happy with your video.
Thank you for sharing your adventures with the world and inspiring others to explore and appreciate the beauty of our planet. I eagerly anticipate your future videos and can't wait to embark on more virtual adventures with you.
Awesome, thank you! Stay tuned, Vinay.
One of my favourite place to enjoy nature & see ladies seat the view of Salem lightening scenes in 70s we saw.🎉❤
You should try and use XP95 petrol it will enhance your drive as well as mileage. And to keep your stats download drivvo quite useful
Nice video. Very helpful for those traveling to Yercaud for the first time. ❤
The challenging terrain and sharp turns posed a great challenge to the driver, and it was a truly thrilling experience to witness the car navigate through the twists and turns with ease.
The terrain was quite dangerous, especially the uphill drive, which required a skilled and experienced driver to handle the car's power efficiently. However, the Suzuki Jimny demonstrated remarkable stability and control on the uphill drive, and it was a testament to its advanced engineering and design.
Overall, driving the Suzuki Jimny on the ghats was an unforgettable experience that left a lasting impression.
Thank you,Amigo! Hopefully to see more of this adventure trip, and foodies. Happy safe driving!
Go for a drive with 4 adults and luggage and check for its performance
Correct 😊
Sundarkumar, do watch my early vlog on why I picked up the Jimny. ua-cam.com/video/TD2S-KkBI7A/v-deo.html I already have a larger first car which serves my purpose well should I have a full house on board.
Comfortable travel is pleasant rather crowded group in four wheeler
Still performs better than your creta
Raised hatchback users always try to insult jimny coz their cars will be fucked if they take to places where jimny can go .. looser lol 😂😂
Super excellent presentation.
First person in the world to feature the Jimny's performance. OMG, Suzuki has not been able to get it's act right. It's Engineers have failed. We need some bloke to test it out. Well done Boss!
I really admire you Sir for following road rules, who thinks safety of others too. I'm always apprehensive as a woman to drive because people don't adhere to the set norms. It is really refreshing seeing people like you. 🙏
Hi Siya, i believe that if each one if us does our bit individually, then collectively we can see huge improvements happen wrt the driving experience, be it on city roads or on highways. Happy motoring.
Will do my bit Sir....thanks for the motivation.
Very informative and nice video
Yes. Good points. Hill driving etiquette is totally unknown to plains drivers in general.
Great Vlog Sir. I'm an avid follower ii f your blog's both for some interesting food and now for the Jimny😄
Awesome! Thank you!
Went there my polo tsi. As I got higher in altitude, it could not get to the 3rd gear. With 4 adult and the AC off i was able to climb the steepest roads. Where the polo performed better was the cornering. It tackled those like it was made for it. One thing I understood is that you need a better torque for heavier vehicles. Smaller and lighter vehicles like altos are at ease in those places because of that factor.
For the Jimny, I think 4 highs engaged are going help the car to climb better rather the RWD alone.
Well okay...with that laid back style...like you are on some joyous Midazolam drip....this car will do fine. Only if it comes to a crunching stop are you likely to feel affronted! Keep up the love for your car...something almost spiritual about your connection with the machine. I would get a Turbo fitted, and you can be just as peaceful as you dart ahead of the up going traffic
Exactly same reason why people are not Buying the Jimny. It's small at the same time not powerful to pull. But its very capable offroad which our guys will never do as the car may get damaged😊
Hi Kripalji - Love watching your solo drives and monologues. Yercaud although a nice place we couldnt find good food (Veg) when we visited in Apr 23.. Waiting dor your next video to see if you show any food.
That's not solo
I did cover some food in Yercaud, a bit of vegetarian too. However, that you will see on Food Lovers TV after a few weeks.
Absolutely within the line.. 😊
🙏
Nice vlog! Great presentation. I love your style of narration which keeps your viewers engaged. I would love you to drive from Bengaluru to Mangaluru via the Charmadi Ghat if possible. I am sure the Jimney will do well and meet the challenge. Greetings from Plano, Texas, United States.
Surely will.
Nice video.I recommend to checkout rebo on wheels as well to see jimny's performance in Manali region.
Welcome to namma yercaud❤
That was a nice drive... If u need to correct the lag means try to install throttle controller which is used my most of t jimny users..... It will reduce throttle accelerator lag... Hope u were in D mode only in the entire uphill... Hope 2 and L will be fine during descent.....
Amazing vlog sir. Truly impressed by performance of your car. Love from Canada
Living in a city i appreciate small vehicles. How was the body roll at the bend's ?
Very nice and enjoyable vlog. Looki g forward to the next.
Absolutely.. always should give way for up hill vehicles. Simple rule of turning... Short to left, long to right.
Sir you check on dimbham ghat or other steep ghats with 4 people n luggage
Hi Kripalaji excellent presentation of every aspects about car, the road and surrounding nature in perfect crisp words.I always admire your way of detailing and presentation 👍
What about the turning radius? I found it quite wide even in the city.
Which color is it? Bluish black I guess.
Happy to see my native place through your beautiful and informative vlogs.. Yes Jimmy has got attracted Globally with its unique style & purpose. We’ve three door version over here.
With love from Africa!!
Nice to know I've been driving through your native place. Hasn't the five door Jimny, the XL been launched in your part of Africa yet?
@@KripalAmannaVlogs I’m really happy to see your reply 😊😊
Have been following you since from the time you’ve started Gourmet on the road. I have been to most of the restaurants in Bangalore which you have reviewed. We decide after seeing your vlogs on Sunday.
yes it’s launched, but this time Jimny is an head-turner as I’ve witnessed good reception over African spec TOYOTA’s.
Jimny does the job perfectly well on off-roading and heavy terrain.
Happy to learn you've been following Gourmet On The Road from our early days. And that you've been enjoying the recommendations too.
We are going to hire your cameraman. Crazy angles.
Very steep ghats and Jimny concurred them well . Due to high altitude all the small vehicles are coming down and none is able to go up other than Camper , Truck and Jimny .
If you really want a true test, test it with 4 elders in kolli hills, namakkal 70hp bends, or at thimbam hills from bannari to mysore .
It looks like you are much comfortable with your Jimny while ascending the Ghat.
I was, Sajjad.
Travelling the ghats on a GOAT was inspiring Sir 🎉
Nice commentary at an absorbing pace! Did you drive through the ghats in Drive mode only or changed to modes like 2 or L for higher power?
It was in 2wd mode all through
My 1998 MARUTI ZEN can take 4 people with luggage and climb the Yercaud route quite easily. And done so many times over the years.
You sit single in a Jimny and call it a REAL TEST of its ability to climb the hills.
REALLY ?!
Usually the chocolate factories are a scam in these hills stations , they use the institutional chocolate slabs which are very cheap made of vegetable fats. They melt and and add with dry fruits , or are poured into moulds , a kg of this slab will be about 300 rs but these shops sells for 700 rs onwards..
Have you tried the Agumbe ghat?
The Jimny is a brilliant choice. It complements the Innova Crysta that you have very well.
Super, what was the onoard price?
What about the body roll?
Most youtuber mentioned that backbody felt like sliding outwards on curves .
Can you please mention that as I am planning to buy jimny🎉
I've not felt the issue of the rear of the Jimny going out of line on curves. I guess it depends on the kind of driver one is and the speeds one is doing, I typically don't push my cars to test the ill effects of centrifugal forces! And I'm guessing most drivers wouldn't. Take a a test drive and check it out for yourself, Deepak.
@@KripalAmannaVlogs thanks
sir you have to explore the kollihills heare we can get very good experiance thank you
Will do soon.
Can you do a drive on kalhatty ghat ooty using Jimny!
I haven't done kalhatty with the jimny yet, but just did an insane drive back from yercaud via bommidi ghats, certain stretches where there were no roads too. The vehicle performed very well, here's my vlog from the drive. ua-cam.com/video/m0BOGyfKNZo/v-deo.html So I think it should be able to do Kalhatty without any issues.
@@KripalAmannaVlogs Yes, I have seen that. Jimny POV it can handle. But would love to hear your commentary while driving on Kalhatty. Also - Kinnakorai drive is challenging
Good question. Hope we get to see a video on that.
if u want to try tough hairpin bends go to kolli hills near namakkal tamilnadu
Excellent narration
Wonderful video sir! Very nice non biased review of the Jimny. Is the automatic bit slow to respond to throttle input? Wondering if it were manual transmission you could have quickly downshifted and got that extra torque to overtake the car on that hairpin bend??
Perhaps. Not sure. Because they have the same engine and power outputs. But yes, in manual, you could perhaps force a shift to a lower gear but if the engine is revving high, it may end up straining the gearbox or clutch system.
Kripal Sir is your Jimney Amt or manual...? My friends told me AMT not suitable for ghats unlike its manual sibling...pl clarify 🙏
It's automatic. I face no issues at all until, and I doubt it will pose a challenge in the future too.
It features a genuine 4-speed automatic transmission, likely made by Aisin, not the AMT system found in Swifts and Balenos. However, this contributes to its lower fuel economy.
Hi Kripal, This is Ravi Teja from CREATIVE CLUSTERS(Travel Vlog channel). Also, I'm planning for a new family member "Jimny" to invite into my family. Need your experience or review on Rainy off-roads. Will be waiting for your video
Super blog…. But just one thing…. You referred to the hillocks as mountains… They aren’t mountains, they are just a hill range
It looks like more or less agumbe. But this bit wider road. You are driving on this ghat with 4/2 orc4/4 mode
2wd mode.
Was your AC on while going uphill???
Wanna be SUVs .. that line 😂... Liked it...
I can't wait to see you take the Jimny off the beaten track!
Stay tuned, should be an interesting watch. Dropping two vlogs this week, the big one on Sunday, and a short one before that.
In Mizoram, you'll be driving uphill from the boundary of the border, Silchar, while driving from Meghalaya and some parts of Assam the roads are like that, no other choice. Before it used to be small roads, but now, 4 way highways are constructed as its the international border.
High cliffs, hills are everywhere. Some plain areas are ther, but between hills...but in the eastern side, before reaching Burma border we have a small plain area... the name of the town is Champhai. Aizawl is the capital, Champhai is about 192 kms from Aizawl...
I hope to get there someday with my Jimny, Lathazuala, should be interesting to drive there.
@@KripalAmannaVlogs Ok. Welcome. It'll be very interesting...
Hi sir.if you can try can also test jimny on Kolli hills.which has more hairpin bend than Yercaud
If I am not wrong is has >70 bends..
I would like to see the how it performance......
Not sure of how many hair pin bends at Koli Hills, but should be interesting.
@@KripalAmannaVlogs70 hair pin bends i have done that pristine beauty with cloud overhanging
It's automatic or manual transmission
Kripal sir,do take your car to Hyderabad as well...its around 580-600 kms...
It would take you 9 and a half hours to reach
It would take you 9 and a half hours to reach
Sir, Next Agumbe Ghat...!!!
Jimney has beaten even a hummer in some off road challenges. This incline is a cake walk.
True.
Did you drive it on Drive mode or Manual mode when you're going upward the hill Sir?
Hi Nivedita, in Drive mode. There’s no Manual mode in the automatic Jimny.
@@KripalAmannaVlogs I see. Do you suggest driving in Manual mode in Fronx Automatic car while going up hill?
Fronx did a very good job on climbing uphill in Yercaud hill using drive mode AGS model 😊👍🏻
Awesome Jimny. 😊😊😊😊😊
On your way back use 2 and L downhill the hairpins instead of using D and enjoy the feedback of the vehicle .you could also switch off O/D. So pretty much 1/2& 3 like a manual drive
I did a different route entirely on the way down, very different terrain, stay tuned for the vlog which drops in the week ahead.
If you get any chance you should try Mahindra thar on hill stations, it's a cake walk for thar with 4 people plus luggage..
I wouldn't subject 4 adults to a long drive in a Thar, luggage included or not. At least not those I would want to count as friends post the drive too! 😃
Great video sir, feeling a difference between manual driving and amt, never had the opportunity to experience amt drive in ghats, hoping manual provides more power as we can maneuver the vehicle on our terms, any thoughts on that sir
Hi Mayur, the Jimny automatic version also has two option for driving in low, 1st, 1st and 2nd, in auto. Whilst, I haven't felt the need to use it yet, this I feel will mimic the manual intervention you are referring to.
Petrol same scenerio hapnd😂in baleno started from bangalore, about to fill petrol in salem but due to traffic forgot and climbed, early range was more and when i reached mid way meter came near empty, shocked for a minute as its night 7, till reaching that station mind is full of fear and aftr seeing this petrl station relaxed and bareft came out and askd to full tank with big breathing 😅😅such a relx
Yes, I was quite flabbergasted too!
Did I see the stress on your face taking over the hair pin bends 😅.
Did the yearcud trip last year with 4 adults and a kids and boot fully loaded with luggage in my Baleno, it was a breeze
Baleno is designed in the heavens

Hi Kripal
How did the automatic temperature control worked in the heat of the afternoon?
It worked just fine. I had it set at 22.5, single fan level. Very adequate.
Hope you've installed a throttle controller. Jimny feels so much better to drive with that.
Nope, I think the power is adequate.
That moment when kirpal bro agree's 8:25 engine didn't co operate 😅😂🤣🤣 ( lack of power ) no efficient 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think you missed the conversation about overtaking at low or high end of the engine rev band.
Waiting for off road trail vlog
How's the suspension in bad road conditions sir...
I was quite impressed, you will see more on it on my return trip from Yercaud, where I took a route, some stretches where the road was eaten away completely. Stay tuned.
at 8.10 secs. was that your steering wheel shaking ? Kripal.
none whatsover.

Why r people even talking about Jimny being under powered etc for talking on the ghats. Some 30 yrs back, on the same Ghats, with worse roads, ecen Padmini and Ambassador used to haul a car load of people. Even Maruti 800 and Omni with 6 people inside used to do it.
Seriously? I mean, I have seen so many Santro and indicas going there. It's a disrespect to the jimny using words like conquer!
Suzuki ne kitna paisa diya.
yercaud is not a place probably to test the performance. bcz I had easily drove here with my small Ford fogo , easily. 😂
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🙏
After having owned and driven the( since 1992 ) Fiat , gypsy , Scorpio , Safari , Pajero sfx , Pajero sports , Gurkha and now Jimny … I say rhis - this vehicle is not underpowered . Anyone who says it’s underpowered does not know how to drive , is skilless and don’t know how use an engine’s tractability.
🙌
11.6kmpl is good with AC On
I thought so too, and for a car that has barely run 500 kilometres.
Tyre pressure 26psi only!!!
No offense to anyone, even if this is a good offroader i felt the engine not adequate when there more passengers and luggage and it's a petrol engine which again is a downside for a car like this. And the other thing I kinda not a fan of is the suspension feels too soft.
No it's 3 grades of Arabica, you get excellent local grown coffee beans
Nice god language
You are good in pet pooja
Already it's a proven vehicle.
it would be better if you focus on views instead showing self
