Mate, 8mm for cropped APS-C sensor is 12mm in FF format. As you take the 2x crop factor in consideration for the micro 4/3s, you need to add the 1.5x crop factor for APS-C as well. To sum it up, the 7.5mm lens is 15mm in M4/3 and for APS-C is 11.25mm (12mm for Canon's 1.6x crop factor).
RITVARS STARKS You’re kidding! It has less barreling than my Nikon 14-24. I’m definitely ordering one then. Well worth a try for the money. Thanks for the reply! :)
I'm rather sceptical about m43 in low light in general. Didn't do any specific tests for flaring, but didn't have any major noticeable issues with it. If you're ok with distortion this lens is pretty amazing for the price :)
I bought this lens recently for my Sony A6000 and the multiplier for me should be 1.53, which makes it a 10mm. On the whole, I am pretty happy, but I need to get the hang of the manual focus, though.
Hi Ritvars, thanks so much for the great quality video review! I've seen a couple other reviews where people mention that the focus ring stops working after only a few weeks. Have you had a chance to put this lens through a lot of use and do you have any thoughts on this? Thanks for any insight! - James
Hey, so as you can see I got this lens in 2018 March.. I live in Scotland where weather is damp and wet all the time, went to Iceland in January for 2 weeks, cold and everything. Was working no issues. Since I sold my Lumix I only got to use the lens for around a year and it performed flawlessly. :) have not had any issues. :)
It's hard to tell one is more favorite than other cause these are 2 lenses for two different sized sensors. If I have to choose, I like 7artisans because od F2.8 and it's sharper than Samyang. Samyang is kinda soft.
As much as I used my G9 I loved the lens a lot. :) Trust me, if you are ok with distortion you'll love it too. :) I have changed systems so am not M4/3 user anymore, should really make a video on that topic.
First of all, I was very surprised when I saw that you have less than 300 subscribers, the video quality and review is on the level of channels with several hundred thousand subscribers. So for that congratulation. I bought a GH5 this week to vlog, make video reviews about tech items, stream on twitch and to film all sort of things I thought that the Leica 12mm-60mm 2.8 would be more than enough to my needs (as I have no experience at all with video or photo), but unfortunately, I feel that the 12mm isn't wide enough. so now I'm on the market for something even wider like the Laowa or 7artisans 7,5mm.....but I didn´t wanna have to deal with big distortions 1) I´m concerned about the distortion on the fisheye when live streaming, but on your video, I didn´t see any distortion. Is that because of your camera or I also would get a similar result on my GH5 with the 7artisans? 2) I also noticed you mentioned in your video that the 7.5mm is actually a 15mm from a full frame camera. I would be correct to think that my 12-60mm is equivalent to a 24-120mm full frame camera? if that is the case may be that´s the reason of no being wide enough. Best regards and a lots of success to both of us ;D
Thanks for kind words. :) You are right, 12-60mm would be 24-120mm on FF, 24mm being still really wide. I kept myself or any other subject in the center of the frame so you would not see so much distortion as if subject would be close to side. This lens should look the same on GH5 cuz it is the same sensor size after all. Good luck you too with your vlogging :) p.s. I just switched to Sony A7Riii but don't tell anyone yet, I haven't made a video in a while. ;)
I saw plenty of distortion in the footage. Though that's a good thing as I like distortion. Though having said that, the distortion in the 7Artrisans 7.5mm doesn't look as extreme as some other fisheye lenses Ive seen. By the way, I used to have a Peleng 8mm fisheye for my M4/3 gear but I wasn't overly impressed with the quality of the optics so I ended up selling it. I think I'll buy the Artisans at some point.
RITVARS STARKS oh well, at least I get to enjoy it when you use it 😊 I was thinking about doing a best Vlogging lens video, like I did about the camera, do you think I should?
funny enough I don't really know.. it doesn't say on the lens and I don't have box right now. But I remember the instruction was in Chinese/Japanese so.. make a guess.
excellent review, thank you so much! i will like to see your review of the Kamlan f1.1 the bokee lovers. And is $169 dollars. bless! you have a new subscriber!

You and other guys from UA-cam actually inspired me..so I bought cheap canon and lens 50mm 1.8
I think I finally found my true love :3
50mm f1.8 is a great lens! Really sharp!
Well, played. Put your money in lenses..
Same here hahaha. The newest 50mm Is surprisingly good. I'm using it adapted on my micro 4/3 and Fuji cameras and I love it.
Great review! I might end up buying this now from your review, probably for vlogging on my channel and some other still and video around Detroit.
Cool n awesome review but the video very nice more, you talking like a pro....happy to watch this. Tq
Huh! Barely any distortion at all. What did you use for correction?
Might be worth a look for the price! Thanks!
I have not corrected any distortion in this video at all. :) That's how it looks :)

Sounds good! :) Does A6000 has focus peaking? ..would be handy for manual focus :)

Great rev. indeed... my question is, which lens is your fav. since you have both which I want to choose from. Samyang 8mm 3.5 or 7artisans?
Thx

Good review. 👍🏻 Need to catch up again soon old friend.
Ohh thanks! 😋 yeah, it's been ages. 😮🧐
Would you recommend the 7artisans 7.5mm or the samyang 7.5mm since you own both? Thank you!
The Samyang that I own is 8mm Fish-eye and it goes on my Canon 600D so that's totally different sensor and camera.
Nice video! I'm thinking about this lens for the GX9, do you still use/enjoy this lens? Cheers

Was looking for a review of this lens on mft camera and your video helped a lot, thanks ! Greetings from Taiwan
happy to help!
can i use a canon version of this lens, with the proper adaptor, on an olympus camera?
if your Olympus has m4/3 sensor then you don't even need adapter cuz 7artisans 7.5mm F2.8 Fisheye makes it for M4/3 :)
Can this be used with a full frame camera without vignetting
Hey. Nope. This lens does not come in full frame :( As alternative to this lens You can check out Sigma 15mm F2.8 ;)
Ok, I may just have to pick this lens up.. really nice image quality for such a cheap lens
Is the Canon mount vesion compatible with my 6D Mark II?
Nope, it's EF-M mount but you need EF-S mount, so this is not going to work for you :(
