Robot tags almost always comes with one of the other rare high star tags and it forces you to choose between a 1* and something else. For example, I got a top operator tag with an elemental+robot tag today. I got to pick what turned out to be a Rosa instead of a Phono-R. With no Robot tags, you kind of have to expect to spend 60-100 tags before getting one robot.
Or they could add a feature I personally think FGO does well: you can skip recruitment greetings by tapping repeatedly. On that note and slightly off topic, if 10x pull, first greeting should be played for new operators so you don't miss your new ops saying hi or have to manually click to skip until you get to the new ops
@Yatsuki112 I'm sure this had been requested since forever but the long unskippable recruitment text only affects EN so it's a very low priority qol update to them. JP, KR and CN have the same text speed but their language use much less characters so they don't feel the pain we do.
Here comes a thought: longer/compulsory greetings prolong play time aka they can boost their engagement time up lol. This is actually a thing some games do so who knows
Catapult's voiceline is low-key nice though. "Reserve OP team A6 Catapult, reporting in. Hey, I can tell you're hella different from that stuffy old bit- I mean the esteemed great instructor Dobermann, right? Like, it's obvious"
Additional Tips: - Use those three free refreshes on a single recruitment slot only. That way you don't have to deal with occasional "tag hold" - which prevent certain tag to be refreshed - if you use it just once but on many recruitment slot, thus increasing the chance of Senior/Top Operator tag showing albeit very slightly. - If you have 200++ Recruitment Permit AND Expedited Plans, you can force refreshes and spam the recruitment to get 4-stars operators token, which can be traded in Certificate Store for Distinction Certificate. It also has a little chance to spawn Top Operators tag, too.
Can you, very please, elaborate on this "tag hold"? (Sorry, if it was mentioned in a video, I can't watch it for now due to networking issues). From a statistical perspective, I can't see how refreshing a single slot multiple times might be different from refreshing a few slots just once. Are there any bugs, hidden mechanics behind this?
The important tags section is extremely helpful, thank you. I have been playing for years and only shooting for 4 stars this whole time. I now feel like i have been missing out.
Great guide! Thank you for making this for newer players this many years into the game. For me, I usually just always set them for 7: 40 each when tagless, and 9: 00 with tags, since I don't care about robots and I'd rather have the tiny chance of 4* operators on tagless recruitment.
Robots are so nasty. I never get robot tag without also getting a guaranteed 4 star tag. Guaranteed yellow cert vs pretty small chance to actually get a robot potential. I just go for the certs
Same here. I will always take free gold certs over a robot tag. Its better than 3 star tags, but you never see it when they other options are 3 star minimum.
It happens because the game checks first if you getting any rare tags and how exactly rare are they, and if you do it can give you multiple at once, so getting a few rare tags in one recruitment is a common thing. I once had robot, senior and top operator tags at the same time.

Aceship is outdated as you said and probably wont get updated so it might be better to recommend up to date ones for newbies. Like the akgcc one is updated.
Dropped tags still feels so bad. I'm of the mind there shouldn't be any chance to lose them if they aren't conflicting. Definitely the clunkiest part of Arknights still
tip for recruitment calculator, switch to chinese server, that one is up to date, and when you hover over tags, you have the translation in english if you don't have any tags that guarantee 4*, instead of 9hrs, do 7h40mins, you still get good odds of a 4* while saving time
CN server has some characters that we don't have in recruitment, iirc. So no, that one isn't accurate for us either. EN one gets updates slowly since it isn't a priority for them. Probably. But they've been decent, so unless there is a major update that renders it super outdated (eg. unit added that renders a lot of guaranteed to not be guarantees anymore or another guarantee added to the pool)... I'd probably keep using this one unless there's another that shows it is just as reliable or better to move onto instead (there probably is, I'm too lazy to go search for it)
I really hope they will change the recruitment system a bit. At first never cross a tag if there's 9 hours set. Then increase chanses to get 5 and 6 stars since the pool of operators became pretty crowdy (and considering no one pull in Kernel banners, it's almost impossible to get specific old ops). And finally make robots appear frequently. C'mon HG, you can do this.

Its true. Because mayer is the only operator have summon tag there. So if i go for top operator + summon with 9 hours. Its 100% the summon tag will get crossed and get become random (top operator only)
Great guide and thank you for all the advice. I also noticed Elemental tag only works for Phonor. I was able to max potential all my Robots, except Therm-ex cuz Nuker at 3.50 is a pain lol
This is a really good guide, but I was left wondering, if it's actually good idea to choose 2 or more mutually exclusive tags at the same time while using recruitment? I have been playing the game for around 2 years and always thought, this would result with overall higher chance of conflicting tags cancelling each other out meaning that, if you for example select Guard and Defender it would most likely drop both tags, since there are no operator maching both tags. As result I have been only selecting "valid" combinations or leaving it tagless incase I just want to cycle. I also tend to use either 9:00 hours or 3:50 as I understood longer recruitment time would decrease chance for tags dropping. In any case thank you for your continuous guides and I hope everyone have pleasant start of an year!
I can confirm 1 hr for robot feels better. I only started doing that for Justice Knight and then it felt easier. Got my last Phonor yesterday. Also the updated Aceship on Lungmen Dragons is better.

I had a top op and senior tag last year, and it got crossed out. I always set those to 9hrs when I see it. So there's really a chance they can get crossed out when your very unlucky
