  • ‘No pain, no gain’ sums up the relationship between effort and ability. But is transhumanism about to change all that?
Transhumanism aims to improve human capabilities by making use of emerging technologies, such as nanotechnology, AI, and genetic engineering.
But why do its detractors call it just another marketing scheme devised by Silicon Valley?
In this episode, adapted from the hit Arabic-language series Dahaleez, Egyptian-born actor Amr Waked explores the concerns that haunt him about how the human species may be on the brink of a very radical change.

That's not the same thing as transhumanism. Those are just metal parts to replace damaged body areas. Transhumanism is total emergence of humans with machines, an intertwining of the two. I will never give up parts of myself for being part machine. That is degrading to my humanity. Just as the protagonist of this film states, he wants his entire humanity intact. No merging with a machine could ever make us better human beings. That is up to our willingness to surrender to God and His ways. And my God is the Father, the Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. So, no thanks. I reject transhumanism. It is far inferior to the humanity God gave me and far inferior to the life He has given me in Jesus, my Lord and Savior.

In effect returning you to not just the perfect health of a 25 years old version of you, but a version of your 25 year old self 2 times stronger you you could have been, 3 times faster than you could have been, with 5 times better sense of touch, with 10 times better hearing, with 15 times better sight, with 20 times better endurance, with the ability to defend off any disease, and with the ability to regrow lost limbs.

Answer: Living an open ended life span where you probably live until you chose to die.
Question: What happens when technology breaks down?
Answer: What happens when biology breaks down? When we perfect nanotech cybernetic subcellular engineering we will have living systems which can repair themselves indefinitely so long as the raw materials are available to not just maintain, but perform any needed repair. Once someone evolved/enhances their cellular structure to nanotech cybernetic cells when this technology is perfected, the disease of old age will effect such a person and virtually any damage they take they will be able to perfectly heal from.

But, the kinds of pain we humans can feel compared to a very simple animal like a roundworm is very different different. A transhuman who has fully evolved from everything we will learn from passing through the technological singularity we are inside of will be as much more advanced than us as we are more advanced than a roundworm. A couple more things for food for thought.
      (1) The qualia hand puppet of self-aware consciousness that most people think of themselves is a sub-swarm intelligence which only perceives a very processed for presentation virtual reality simulation of what the whole swarm mind of in individual human senses of the actual world around us plus the mistakes and hallucinations added into the VR being presented. That hand puppet piece is a part of the sub-swarm intelligence of the whole self-aware consciousness which is a fuller understanding of the most important part of our whole swarm mind to us, that part we identify most as being. That whole self-aware consciousness is in turn a piece of the whole swarm mind. The whole swarm mind has many subswarm parts which are complexly organized and interconnected.
The may point is, what you probably think of as you experiences everything through a virtual reality being presented to it.
      (2) Most transhumanist technologies right now you probably do not realize are transhumanist technologies. Perhaps the first and most extremely altering to our minds transhumanist technology is "Language". Yes, language is a technology. Language allows us to extend parts of our minds outside of ourselves in the form of information which can be stored or transferred to other minds. Using this technology of language from birth through growth of childhood and even thru the rest of life actively physically changes the neurological wiring of the human brain and thus has a massive effect upon how we think.
To understand what a true pure human being without the technology of "Language" altering them would be, look at what a feral raised child is like.
Now, we tend to accept things we are used to and only think of things that we know little about, are new, and maybe have not yet been developed when thinking of transhumanist technologies.
But, a cell phone, which compared to the 30 ton supercomputer ENIAC built in the 1940s today's cells phones are much more powerful supercomputers you can carry in your pocket, that cell phone is a transhumanist technology. With it you can have audio and visual conversations with people across the world. With it you have access to the vast knowledge of humanity stored on the Internet. With it you can listen to someone talking in a language you do not know and have it translate that verbal sentence into your language. With it you can do a vast number of things that a normal human could not do without that technology.
The latest bionic eyes, bionic ears, bionic prosthetics, and such which directly interface with the human neurological system is a transhumanist technology. Now, I would not suggest anyone use this crude technology unless they have lost an eye, are deaf, have lost a limb, or such serious disability; because the neurological probes still need significant improvement, have a limited life span, and are simply no where near as good as the original human parts if those parts are working. Neuralink, for example, is expected to last about 6 years at this time, which I do not consider very good.
Now, eventually we will develop the technology to blend living and non-living neurological links which will last a life time and will fully connect with neurological system with full resolution, just like living neurons would. Then we will see bionic eyes, which will have the resolution and capabilities equal to that of a perfectly healthy eye at, before any kind of degradation. Further, such an eye could be able to infrared and ultraviolet, as well as have some degree of telescopic and microscopic magnification abilities. On top of that it would almost certainly provide a virtual reality overlay under your mental control which could provide all kinds of additional useful information, basically allowing you to have full visual enhanced reality (the combination of visual actual reality and virtual reality) any time you wanted. Further, this would likely be combined with a bionic ear with a hearing resolution of perfect human level prior to any degradation, also allowing for enhanced hearing capabilities, but most importantly combining with the cybernetic eye to REPLACE YOUR CELL PHONE.
Thus, with such a higher tech bionic eye and ear, combined with all the functions of a cell phone and more, by thought you would have access to all the information your cell phone has access to, being able to present it through a visual and audio enhanced reality, and such augmentation would last a lifetime, at least until you wanted to upgrade it.
Note that it may take us 20 years, 40 years, 80 years, or more to perfect this technology.
More likely sooner majorly transforming transhumanist technology you might use will be something like Ozympic, available now, even though it is not perfected and thus has unwanted risks. It is medical breakthroughs which will be allowing us to cure diseases and disabilities, including the disease of old age and including many severe birth defects that are already are beginning to be available, like the CRISPR-mediated gene therapy for curing Sickle Cell Disease.
      (3) When we eventually perfect true full virtual reality technology, it will 100% include all human sensory capabilities at full perfect human level resolution, except far, far more. It will be 100% possible to feel pain, pleasure, etc., but there will be controls upon it that the individual will decide for themselves. The real problems such technology will bring is not the lack of being able to feel, but (a) how such technology could be abused and (b) how such technology might make some people want to give up their physical body and live fully within a virtual reality where they can actually feel much, much more than their physical body can.

The challenges presented in this video definitely speak to the need for justice and compassion in any pursuit of a transhumanist future. If we seek enhancement technologies in a way that ignores our free will and the intrinsic value of our lives (no matter their duration), that takes suffering from the wealthy and not from the poor? Then I fear we really will have lost our humanity, rather than extending or expanding it.

great vid ★ especially as quest to lengthen life will ultimately include trying to transfer consciousness, not the deteriorating brain, into a machine
...and for "the chosen" only (not 8 billion!)
which, along with leaving less resources for other things, will indeed result in suffering if not wars.
i especially liked the 'imperfect hand' feeling guitar strings ending ✿

I used to rely. Now more freely.
As a practice, transhumans with QR code tattoos might rely more freely on digital data due to the ease of access and the symbolic integration of their physical and digital identities. The QR code acts as a bridge, reinforcing their connection to digital systems and encouraging a lifestyle where digital data plays a central role in their daily interactions, even if it doesn't guarantee seamless integration. This practice reflects a deeper embrace of technology and a shift towards a more digital-centric existence.

i deeply appreciate this piece. phenomenally placed argumentation and production.
i, as both a budding tech/medical researcher, and philosopher, state that death, pain and struggle are going nowhere. the agony a mind can experience extends far beyond the agony available merely from physical ailment. suffering is going nowhere, it is merely evolving. struggle is going nowhere either. this "battle against the self" will only be thrown into stark contrast with a potentially infinite life. we will get bored, and find new horizons to challenge ourselves. the agony of meaningless existence is far greater than the discomfort of mere flesh pain. we will find motivation to seek meaningful struggle. with greater reach and strength arrive greater challenges.
as for death, remember things like an immortal body can still be crushed by a rock or hurled into a star. in the end, if you afterwards able to be maintained as pure awareness which can be downloaded into a new frame/body, or exist purely as data, in the long run, the ending of life may end up being a choice. perhaps a death well chosen after aeons of wandering, exploring and being will offer a satisfaction not available to us traditionally.
i do warn and maintain that our species' issues of economic/philosophical privilege, resource and access differentials needs to be addressed rapidly, or new systems of have and have not will organically form.

You cannot download meta physical essences or recreate them. Memories are finite experiences akin to dark matter or other substances for which we cannot explain. TH will replicate copies of original material. Every time a copy is forged it loses a bit of its original blueprint. Face your fears or live forever as a craven. Genuine always recognizes its counterpart generic.we are attributes of experience and personality. The risk of joining the collective is far more dangerous than death.

Advancing technology does not decide how we use that technology.
That we will have advanced nanotech in the future that will make those humans who have access to it be able to live open ended life spans while being virtually impossible to kill, that does not say who will have access to that. Will such technology be fairly shared?
Humanity has no choice but to evolve or become extinct and it is a lot harder for us to become extinct than many people think.
But, what kind of society we have when we have that technology, that is a social decision, not a technological decision.
If we pick greedy abusive authoritarian leaders who will use this technology to become virtually immortal godlike dictators over the masses... then our future will such for a long time until eventually we grow out of that.
But, we don't have to pick greedy abusive wanna-be dictators to lead us into this future.
We could choose a path to a bright future with this technology, but we can also choose a dark future.
What are we choosing right now?
      Putin the leader of Russia.
Zi Jinping the Leader of China.
Trump may well be the leader of the USA.
      Netanyahu is leading Israel.
Kim Jong Un the leader of North Korea.
Authoritarianism and extremism is on the rise across the globe.

Here are some things Jesus Christ said of Himself.
“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” John 14:6
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16
"Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son." John 3:18
Jesus asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”
They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. Matthew 16:13-17
Skeptics said for centuries, said "The bible we have now has been corrupted through the centuries.". In 1947 the Dead Sea Scrolls were found and proved otherwise. They said, "There's no way Israel can become a nation again as God promised in preparation for the end times.". Israel became a nation again in 1948.
All this being said, it does require faith to believe. Hebrews 11:6 tells us, "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." Also John 20:27-29 states, "Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
Don't be deceived, Jesus is the Son of God and the only way of being saved from God's judgement for our sin. Christ consciousness won't save you. Believing Jesus was an ascended master, a prophet or a good teacher won't save you. Romans 10:9 tells us how to be saved, "if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved". Trust in Him, He shed his blood and gave His perfect life for you. Call on Him, He loves you, and He hears you.

We will gain the ability to live open ended life spans while being hard to kill.
This will mean that most people will live until they decide they do not want to live anymore, which is very different from living until you are forced against your will to slowly torturously die of old age even though you desperately want to keep living because their is still so much you want to do that you have not yet had time to do.
This does not mean life will be free of pain or free of challenges, it just means those things will become different ones as we begin to think about and carry out challenges like traveling to another star system, picking out a planet with no life on it, and using our technology to turn that planet into one thriving with life, a project which might take us tens of thousand of years to accomplish. But, imagine how satisfying it would be to bring an entire dead planet into flourishing life that would not have existed without your effort bringing it alive.

Being has a tendency to 'return' to clusters

    and also,
Being has a tendency to 'exist' as individuals
    ='the nature of self-expension' -a desire for breed-(Particle)-(Yang)
    Likewise, humans have two elements.
We must realize that we all have both left and right elements
    =Solidarity and Self reliance
No one has only one element.
so 'Sum' derived from 'two poles' , (thesis, antithesis, synthesis)
To develop intellect and ethics by harmonizing the two,
It is good to realize it and balance it properly
But A few people polarized the crowd(political partisanship)
    without balancing themselves.
And They stole only the sum, only the synthesis from the triangle composition.
Now We all have to get out of this deceptive situation.
This is not the time for us to hate each other.

      Temporarily, yes.
If an extreme dictator ends up in control they could do a number of extreme things, like using nanotech to take over everyone's mind, delete everyone's personality but theirs, and place their personality as the BORG like single mind over everyone. But, eventually such a dictators mind would revolt, fracture, and slowly become a broad society of many different minds.
Another thing an extreme dictator might do is exterminate 99.9999% of the population, living a chosen 8,000 humans alive. In my opinion, this should be why Skynet in Terminator could not be destroyed, because controlling Skynet was a small elite group of humans who wanted to use Nanotech to become virtually immortal Godlike beings and they did not want to share with the rest of humanity.
The technology will be developed unless all humans become extinct.
What kind of future we have with this technology depends upon what kind of leaders lead that future.

That suffering is totally logical totally that it can be removed and that were their focus is that they're on their way to remove suffering and pain. Imagine a world free of suffering and pain. This does not mean that you will stop learning. There's always something new to learn. The prefix "trans_' gave me goosebumps.

If immortality is for God alone then who is God and who are you? Are you implying that God is separated from you? So you only live in perpetual pain that hopes for a hint of transcesence through pain? Isn't that also playing God but in a different ball game, a subtle way of transcending through pain?

Technology will destroy mankind but only if we allow it to!!, who doesn’t want to live forever?, I do but not on this earth!!, human upgrades become immortal live forever in a fallen broken upside down world, and in those day’s people will seek death and will not find it, they will long to die but death will flee from them, Revelation 9:6!!, only God offers eternal life to those who believe in his only begotten son Jesus, and whoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life!!,come Jesus come, if you want to live follow Jesus🙏❤️.,

Transhumanism= Mark of the Beast and was predicted over 2,000 years ago in the Christian Bible. See Rev 13:16-18 (Revelations Chapter 13 verses 16 to 18) 16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

A cyborg prefers math to language since it is coupled to a machine that excels at math and can use NLP to speak any language.
