Like your theme song & my 12 year old son caught a 7 pounder using a culprit black shad worm on a Zebco 33 this morning out of a South Georgia farm pond.
I'm not old but I think I can see it from where I am at. Great videos that bring back even better memories. Also goes to show how great old ideas get rebranded as new. I think I may be a tackleholic.
Guys that make lures. That paint crank baits and stuff. I mean they are works if art. So much detail. But I don’t believe a man needs a replica of a particular bait fish. If you get in the same color scheme IMHO your good. Unless it is gin clear water Bass don’t really look that close at a meal. IMHO
Another walk down tackle memory lane. Loved it. Those Willy's Worm cranks were great for walleye. The Futura LX just seems to be missing the spinnerbait rack that fit in that slot in the back. My brother in law still has the one I handed down to him.
I just came across this channel in my feed! Inspired me to grab an old wiggle wart and get some blanks and start painting my own! Here for the blow up, awesome content!
Just started watching you're show enjoyed it a lot seeing some of these old lures taking me back to my teenage years I remember having some of those lures I wish I would have kept them
Love the content! I fished a lot between 1975 and 1985 so this is right up my ally. To keep it brief I was trying to find out about an old lure in my tackle box. Posting on the web led me to this which also crossed over with your vid on Virgil Ward and bass buster lures. (Bass Buster Space buzz), Go figure. Also crossed over with Bass Pro shops. Not sure if any one ever fished one of these but they are interesting. Wanted to share it. Also keeping it old school my father bought the lure at a Bass Pro we had in my town. A store only about the size of a convenience store. I hear they were common back in 1980. So a little more retro there as well. Not sure how to post the photos of the lure here though. Maybe an email address?
@@RetroBassin Will see what I can do but I am pretty "RETRO" in my on right. I did try and post it to the face book page but i do not see it showing there. Will give it a shot when my kids get home.
Love these videos, it’s good to see someone else that has a problem and border line addiction to old fishing tackle worse than me. I’ve always sought out old lures and one offs to see how well they could work and often I do find things that work better than what everyone else is currently using or what the hot bait is at that moment. To me what is old has now become new again in terms of fishing lures. I love the old Poes lures and I’ve got a few boxes of them and it was those lures and old Mepps spinners that caught my eye as a kid. Nowadays I mine eBay for unique JDM and European lures.
POES: Besides the crappy lips on the newer Yakima models, (which at some cracked lip point, we then made into christmass ornaments) we tried to Dead-Eye them out by throat drilling them out, and adding a segment of lead pencil weight, epoxied in flush, and covered with red paint. There was no way to lead wrap the hook shanks in order to get then to suspend.
Any Aquasonic lures? I bought two (Baby Bass & Red Craw) back in the day via mail order in a fishing magazine, I think it was B.A.S.S. The Baby Bass worked great but the Red Craw, not so much. Sadly I don’t have them any more. I think folks would enjoy seeing a video on them.
The pre rigged worms are money! It's what I started with in bass fishing, haven't used one in 3 decades. KE plow jockeys and my favorite sure hit worms.
Great video! Foxee Jig was a fish catcher. Wasn't Guido Hibdon affiliated with Renosky for a time? He was an amazing angler. Wow what a mother lode of Poe's...
Just subbed ..I thought I was the only misguided individual who collected old tackle( 220 vintage reels) ( 60 vintage ugly stiks and Garcia Conolons) 😂😂 my name is Mike and I'm a reelaholic. Like this channel!
Yeah the Rebel pop R’s - on E auction site go fast and expensive. Can’t remember the model #. Now as always - 1 of the reasons I like you - must reveal your source for your order. 😊
On my wife’s phone renosky use to be sold at Walmart renosky makes a crippled shad floats on its side it’s good two sizes 1/1/2 inch and 3 inch dimples shad finish black sliver blue sliver they were good
Love this channel man I'm out on the water right now setting in my boat I seen that you put up a video had to stop fishing just to watch this love this channel
All my Poe’s crank baits that I got back in the 80’s, their lips dried up and fell off…I threw them all out like 10 years ago…I prob had 10 or 15 that did that…
When you come to Alabama, come early spring and come fish the Black warrior river and get hooked up on some 7-8lb spotted bass that will pull the rod out your hand. Hit me up we’ll load the boat up
Dude. It’s got to be hard to do an unboxing and the first time you lay eyes on the treasure haul, you’re wearing polarized sunglasses. Cause man, I’ve gotten to where I can’t tie the simplest of knots in broad daylight with my sunglasses on. Gotta take them off and put on the old man glasses.
Spent hrs sitting on I35 wondering how the fishing was on ladybird. I'm vintage now still have a few of dad's things some of my grandpas and and my father-in-law turned me on to some true vintage whopper stoppers and a few bombers great guy. And now my stuffs getting value. Berkley poppers that they stopped making 25 yrs ago and Berkley rattle traps from the same Era they were the best. My Norman's my poes ton of old Rapala. And rebels I love using the bumblebee on flat water great top water. You ever north. Be glad to show you my collection my vintage stuff goes to my son. And you need not ask. If thats for sale. Just ain't but I expect I'll be around for 7- 10 more yr.. too gd. Ornery to die according to my last 3 wives. Stop up to Iowa. Us yanks will put you on fish. K heck dude you live in TX. Go fish it.
New subscriber, love your channel. I'm in my 60's and looking to give away family fishing stuff, but grandchildren and nephews and nieces aren't into it. Are you interested in some unique donations?
Dude can't tell you how much I enjoy your content
Glad you found us, good buddy! Old timey content every Saturday!
I can't get enough of these old school bass fishing gear videos!
John sounds like a cool dude
I’m a simple man...I see a new RetroBassin video, I hit the like button. Always a banger! Best channel on YT.
Thanks, Jonathan. I need to start dropping a mid-week video!
I think you have one of the best fishing channels on youtube. Keep it up.
Like your theme song & my 12 year old son caught a 7 pounder using a culprit black shad worm on a Zebco 33 this morning out of a South Georgia farm pond.
Ain't nothing better!!!
I grew up throwing the Kelly bass worms. That purple and white top is my favorite smallmouth bait ever
I have DRILLED some panfish on a chartreuse pepper Brandon Bug.
Never seen them before!
That high roller top water is freaking sweet and it is branded. That is a display keeper.
I'm 63 and I think I had that Rebel tackle box in my teens.
She’s a beauty!!
I can't fish today because I have to work, but at least I am feeling retro now!!!!
I think I'm going to skip work and fish. Already running late anyway 😀
Live it old school!

This is such an underrated channel I love old lures and rods keep up the good work😁👍
Damn man.... I can't wait for another video to come out!
Every Saturday, if I’m able!
Awsome old school lures. Thanks for sharing with us.
Thanks for tuning in, good buddy!
There's something about the basic paint schemes of old lures that I love.

That B.A.S.S. spinnerbait was one they gave as a free gift way back when with your membership renewal
Wonder who made it?
@@RetroBassin they never said. It was probably a generic one they threw together cheap. After all it was free and Uncle Ray was a business man
Another great episode. Love the Bush top water. Keep after it Bassin Bud.
Is it as hot in Florida as it is in Texas….could boil an egg in the lake!
@@RetroBassin yep. It’s hot. But Florida Bass love the Hot tub
Your show makes workin at the local county lock up bearable. Lol also I’m a huge super cedar fan. Have tons of them.

As soon as I seen that bag of crankbaits I was hooked, pun fully intended 😆
That’s a lot of cedar!!
I would love to see some vintage Megabass. Yuki Ito started the company in 1985 so it’s retro in my books!

That Silver Dollar might be from Branson. The smith at SDC used to make em on order.

I Rem those Kelly worm cards all over in ohio up into the late 90s or so.
How did l miss this one???
High Roller baits is a good find, I remember when RM would plug those on his show.
I have the worms in the vintage package I just the strike king Spence scout

Do you know anyone who makes or sales the old 6 or 7 inch ring worm. It had a small curl tail. Everyone makes a 4inch version.
When you come to Alabama, come early spring and come fish the Black warrior river and get hooked up on some 7-8lb spotted bass that will pull the rod out your hand. Hit me up we’ll load the boat up
8-pound bass and a 5-foot rod…sounds like a horror movie!
Dumb question. I have a 72 Abu 5000 round on a kunnan ml rod. Best line for this?
