You've exactly captured the delicacy of an English woodland when the beech leaves have just unfurled and are almost translucent. Wonderful stuff. I used to gather armfuls of bluebells when I was a child and the fragrance is with me still even though I am 13,000 miles and 60 years away.

Perfectly wonderful. Their fragrance is that of the fairy world, but I agree about the wallflowers too. Thanks for sharing this.

Every year I make a pilgrimage to the blubell wood. For some people their sacred time of year is Easter or the summer solstice but for me it is this moment - a sea of bluebells, stretching as far as the eye could see. It is when Heaven touches Earth and I sense the presence of the Holy Mother. It is as if the bluebells were her signature. See, I am here, she says, These are my colours, this is the scent of my beauty that stretches all the way to God. There is nothing like it on earth

Thanks for the memory. I too loved the FOD & miss it so much. Like Waitakeredame who explained it so well. I guess we live not far from each other these days and enjoy another type of forest with tree ferns.

Thank you for your comments. You are absolutely right about the fragrance of bluebells. With me it is the fragrance of wallflowers that bring back happy childhood memories. Regards pilot gj.
