Ahhh! I love your pink animal print blouse here! It's soft and edgy at the same time - love it so much. Anyway, I am not over 50 - but I'm getting there so I am here getting a head start on style! Actually, I am 43, and I just retired from gentlemen's clubs about 6 months ago. I am trying to fit into the corporate world now, so I am adjusting my style from trendy and sexy to elegant and classy. I want to look modest without looking frumpy. I especially loved the video on how to wear a scarf, since I bought some gorgeous scarfs to create elegant outfits but need to be taught how to wear them. Thank you!

I agree with you completely. I’m 68 and I try and buy the accessories that are modern for my basic wardrobe. I know my body shape, and what not to wear.
Try dressing an apple shape and tunics/empire lines are ALWAYS recommended. Love this. I am discovering the same things you have. Since I am short, capris aren't much of a problem as they are almost ankle length on me. The Lipstick, for sure, no more nudes(or anything truly light) and no more really dark colors, brights in the correct tone work. The eyeliner I love is a bronze, just a bit of shimmer and light. I keep my overall clothing to classics now that I am retired, it gives my aging figure the right structure and they keep me current(I think).

Can't say I agree with you on some of your content. A lot of older people have medical issues where they have to wear certain types of clothing or have issues with mobility when trying to put on necklaces with tiny clasps. Not to mention financial concerns..many older people are on fixed incomes and can't afford to pay for a helper or just to get nicer things in general. Its not all about what you wear. I realize image and fashion is the heart of your channel and I do agree that older people shouldn't give up and become complacent or stop keeping themselves clean ( and/or their clothing) and in good shape. I'm sure you aren't. I used to buy so many of my work clothes for the office from charity shops. In my area BHF is the best. I've got some good buys from charity. I buy from vinted too, and sell on there. My vinted is Annieras489.
I'm a charity shop fan too, sometimes I'm dressed head to toe in charity shop clothes but love that I've found some true gems. I bet you look lovely in your charity shop finds x
When I was a single mom, I didn’t have a whole lot of money for clothes. But what I had I chose wisely so you can look good even though you’re not got a Lotta money it’s what you choose. That makes the difference .I think she’s right about the hedgehog sweatshirts and all the weird T-shirts. My wardrobe was mostly black and light because of my job.🇺🇸

Not a fan of jewelry where you need a magnifying glass to see it. Nothing frumpy about pieces that look significant, liked the choker you wore with I honk a great crew neck sweater, I think some amethyst or look alike glass. Perfect.

I like both delicate and chunky jewellery depending on my outfit. But I’m more inclined to say that delicate is more old fashioned, generally speaking. But that’s just my opinion.
This channel is for people who are looking for fashion ideas to not look older. She is NOT preaching that you must try to look younger! Wow some of you guys are taking offense as if this nice woman was hunting you down and being the fashion police lol! If you aren’t looking for the type of help she gives, keep looking till you find a channel that you do love! 😊
The L'Oreal Retightening Day Cream has been discontinued. Is there something with similar ingredients you'd recommend? Or list the ingredients so we can try to find a substitute? Thank you!!
Question: you always look so nice with your tops tucked in. I have a short torso (short waisted) and I normally wear high rise pants. I have a slight belly and the high rise seems to hide it better. But it doesn’t look very good when I tuck in tops. Do you have any suggestions? I would appreciate it. 😊
I feel your pain - same body type. And I don't like half tuck. To me it looks like you forgot to finish dressing. I am now looking for tops that are shorter and just skim the middle. Hoping that will work.
I have used L'oreal Age Perfect for years now. It's wonderful stuff and drug store prices. I also put it on my neck. The turkey neck that was developing is now gone.
I have very small breasts, so instead of bras, I wear camisoles some are slightly padded; some have no padding. What would you suggest for women like me? Also, what are your thoughts on the chunky heeled, lug loafers and boots? I’ve just signed onto your channel and I’m very glad to be here ❤
Im a chunky moto boot gal, lug boots etc. Just my style regardless of trends. Just go for it . Re your other question, maybe emphasise another part of your frame, waist, rear, legs.
It can be hard finding clothes, I’m over 70. I do like to go shopping in real life, you get a better idea of fabrics, and find out if it fits or suits. So I end up in m and s, next, fatface or matalan, and have to avoid younger trends and frumpy trends!
Just found your channel and have watched a few of your videos and they are great, its nice to have found a UK channel as Ive watched a few USA ones and some are great for ideas but am enjoying yours at the moment. I spend a lot of time at home, I work from home so although lovely to see whats on trend when out and about I would not necessarily invest in a lot of daytime/workwear to be at home so I would love to see a what to wear at home/loungewear video from you.
Im pleased you have found me. I also am at home. This is my full time job now and i retired from corporate work last summer to do this full time. I do monthly what i wore videos and monthly capsules which helps us wear our wardrobes of excess we've built up over the years. In the meantime here is a around the house type video ua-cam.com/video/4DOO9pOaNGw/v-deo.html
what's modern today with be obsolete in a few months/next year. I can't go back to the maxi denim skirts. I wore those a lot when my kids where in grade school. I wore that outfit to Los Vegas once at the time, I never have felt so frumpy in my life. As for capris, the young influences are styling them up on Tiktok. Will they become stylish again, main stream? If and only if, all of us older ladies get rid of all of ours. lol
Hilarious. You nailed the garden centre. It's a flag that the woman has given up. I have a gold bracelet so similar to yours that I've had for over 20 years and i wear it a lot. Those two women from behind, I nearly spat out my tea.😊
I love the “garden centre” reference. Having said that, if I am going to be lugging around a garden cart, heaving my purchases into my vehicle, and then carting it all to my garden, I’m going to wear clothes that will stand up to a bit of dirt. A thrifted shirt or sweatshirt is ideal. But I won’t wear my “garden centre” clothes as regular daywear. And I will always wear earrings and a skiff of mascara whenever I step out my door, be it to the garden centre or anywhere else.
Interesting. I totally identify with the garden centre purchases. So easy to get carried away there. My downfall can be folk festivals and that boho overdone look😖. I love boho but there are limits 😂 Those one size outfits too, because we are not one size and nobody fits a one size outfit. Your first glasses really do look better. Very annoying. 😮.
Omg, I just watched your video, and I knew exactly what you meant by Italian tunics, and I am Italian😂. So true, and I had a good laugh. Definitely not a good look!!
Happy to see that you are including the Lob. That's how I like my hair. A good thing about it is that it can go into an updo. I used to find it difficult to get it tidy but watching Emily in Paris I saw it was okay to have it untidy.
In the US we have a place called Cracker Barrel all over the country. It is a restaurant with a big “country store “ and you would absolutely have a seizure if you saw the clothes in there 😂
Hi i may use small studs but not statement necklace and earrings. I like space between so earrings and bracelet for instance. My grandmother used to critise the Queen for wearing a broach and necklace 🙂. But we shouldn't get hung about it these days. If it looks overdone, it is, if it doesn't it isn't
@@katesnow9531 I laughed about the garden centres but only because I might have been tempted if I had the money. 😂 One of my prized possessions is my dog walking bag complete with dog picture design. But to be fair, I do know that it's not really intended for all occasions.
Capris - the only capris I wear are the hiking outdoorsy kind at home only for housework, gardening, walking and, or playing with my large dog. I love the comfort. I do not wear them out, any wear. I see so many women wearing yellow, pink, blue tight leg capris. Hideous 😕 I work ina women’s wear store in Australia and I do try to get women to try ankle length linen instead.
If we are fortunate enough to be able to choose how we want to look because we have the health and funds and interest, enjoy it. Here are fashion "telltales" that age a woman, IMHO: old lady bangs, old lady thighs, old lady vests, tucking, pleather, black leather. I'm guilty of some of them, so I am working on de-aging my style yet remaining practical. Not trying to look young,am trying to look great. For myself. My 86 year old mother list interest in grooming 4 years ago. She was known for her style. Her mind is still good, even sharp..but she doesn't do basic grooming. However, I had to get a plumber to her home to fix a faucet and I noticed she did her hair before his visit. Signs of vanity! There's life in that body yet.
Actually black leather or good quality pleather pants can look very fashion forward at any age, and such a classic look with some edginess, as long as they are not too tight,
I've also fallen into the ageism trap believing its better to look young than old. I wish society would accept older looking people the way we've accepted fat people or trans people.
It's good to look our age and I think our generation are fitter and more youthful of mind then previous generations and we can reflect that in our appearance. I hope that makes sense.
@@Myover50fashionlife Am I the only one that liked the black sweater with the flowers ? (Not for me I am cool summer type). If - IF it is a good fit - and that would start with being a winter type and a body shape where that size and lenght of sweater looks good - I think it could be a bold statement piece. I can see that thing on the runway (on a young person) if worn with the right attitude.
My hair!!!! Curly, frizzy, wild, dry, grows in circles. I can put myself together but the mop ruins everything. I used to straighten it, both with an iron and chemically and it damaged it badly. Perhaps a wig?😮
Don't despair! I have very curly, salt & pepper hair. Look into the Curly Girl method of caring for your hair and find someone who is specialized at cutting curly hair. We need to condition our hair a lot and use a product that will calm the frizz and let it still be beautifully curly. I get compliments on my curly hair all the time (even from young women) and I'm 60.
Whether or not flip-flops are attractive or ugly depends on one's feet. Feet have to be pretty to wear those. Whereas other shoes and sandals are more forgiving.
I lost a LOT of hair after having Covid in 2020/2021. It was thin to begin with, but now it is really thin. I wear it long, actually waist length. I usually wear it up, with a hairpiece. I look like I have a nice up do with curls and bits which show slightly above my head giving me a little height. I have gone through every stage and every length from short and spikes all the way to waist length. Short and mid length is awful. Those of us who are losing our hair have to March to a different drummer as far as hair styles go. BTW I have actually lost FIVE teeth in the last two years after Covid. My teeth turned to chalk and broke off under my crowns. I Am investigating implants. It will cost thousands of dollars. I am 75, so It is a decision not to be taken lightly.
Posture is so important! And teeth, unfortunately as we age our teeth can discolour- not to go ‘strictly come dancing’ white but worth thinking about 😁
That is another good point. Unfortunately some people's teeth can't whiten bright due to genetics, mine included. My orthodontist had the same issue, his won't whiten white. Sad as my daughters a dentist 😀😀
Some great points here but disagree with the Maxi skirt one. I think unless you're tall they can swamp a shorter figure, especiallythe denim ones with the thick bulky material.. The Midi will always be my go to.
Oh I feel your pain, I’m a 2X, 5.1 and 79,not so easy to buy clothes,I’m sort of a rectangle, with an apple tummy,so if it fits the waist , it’s to big in the hips,so I have to wear long tops to hide all the extra fabric in the hips, wide leg pants can work for me,and I usually wear those if going out,but not so practical day to day.
I'm not sure if I mentioned Qvc n this video but I certanly have in other videos. Unless its a highstreet brand they are bringing like Monsoon, it does age us, generally, in my humble opinion.
I bought a couple of pieces of Anna Luisa jewelry that another UA-camr was hawking - I guess their business model is to “gift” pieces of jewellery to YTubers for them to be the salespeople - and I was super disappointed with a solid real gold (not plated) necklace as not only was the chain so miniscule you could barely see the serpentine links, but it was completely made in China, unlike the rest of their “sustainable” green-washed jewelry. Very disappointed in them. And the other thing about jewellery - yes, the small chain jewellery looks cute on petite women or small built women, like you and me, but I don’t agree that it looks as good on my sister who is bigger busted and 5” taller than me. I think you might want to consider different sized jewellery for different sized people, just as you would consider different sized patterns on different sized people. One size does not fit all.
Hi, I'm not sure of their business model but i can't accept gifts as i pay tax on items. Sorry you were disappointed in a piece. Yes bigger boned ladies suit bigger bolder jewelry as you say and luckily its back in style so now we are all looking at adding bigger jewelry to our outfits in 2024.
It totally depends on how it’s cut, how it’s styled, etc. You can’t make a blanket statement that all Bob haircuts are frumpy, or all eyeliner in a certain place is frumpy. I have a stylish bob, as do many people, but I also know the proper products to use and how to style it.
Kinda contradictory to say that grey hair is pro-aging, when the rest of the video is decidedly anti aging. When I see a woman with grey hair I think she’s an older woman. So, doing all these things to look more youthful, when your grey hair screams older woman, doesn’t make sense to me. Instead of using the word “youthful” can we instead use the word modern or contemporary to describe our clothing choices. Constantly talking about “youthfulness” is hardly “pro-aging”.
I will use those words . Great alternatives. Thank you. We’re a team on this channel . A team of you viewers and me and your input is a great contribution to wording.

Maxi skirts look awful on overweight people-even young rail thin models look heavy in maxi skirts-and unfortunately the majority of post menopausal women in the US are overweight. I love a solid color cardigan over a pretty print blouse for work as it is often cold and I have to layer. I do agree a tunic and a long necklace never looks good. I also think anything leopard print is dangerous for women over 50.
I disagree about fringes. I've got a cow's lick and look awful without a fringe. It makes me feel older and scruffy without one (I've tried!) Also, see Jo Wood. She's always had a fringe and it certainly doesn't age her. I greatly admire her style also.
I watch Jo too. She has the fringe i suggest, side parting and swept sideways. I show examples of that effect in the video as one of the ways to go with a bob

I'm sure you aren't. I used to buy so many of my work clothes for the office from charity shops. In my area BHF is the best. I've got some good buys from charity. I buy from vinted too, and sell on there. My vinted is Annieras489.
I am a second hand rose too, and proud of it. If you know a bit about colour, it really helps.
I bet you look great but don't realise it.
Expensive clothes don't mean style. You don't need to spend a lot of money to look stylish. Learn how to style what you have.
Dress your personality ❣️. Dress for where you live!!! Age doesn't really matter.
I love this video! You covered so much useful information. It was very helpful...Thanks!
I'm #100 to give you a thumbs up. You may be 'controversial' on some of your points but at the same time you have given much food for thought. I totally adore your channel; it is perfect for me. ~ Paula
Could you post a picture of the items you are describing that we Should be trying
Matronly is another good word to use for frumpy. Loved this video! Thanks for all the tips!!
Petite woman don’t ever look matronly to me.
Not a fan of jewelry where you need a magnifying glass to see it. Nothing frumpy about pieces that look significant, liked the choker you wore with I honk a great crew neck sweater, I think some amethyst or look alike glass. Perfect.
Actually this year bolder jewellery is coming back. Here is an updated video on jewellery ua-cam.com/video/bfYlcAA-L7U/v-deo.html . You will be happy as its what we used to wear. I have bought some glass jewellery chocker style . Here is aff links to some that I love rstyle.me/+BYMcPWItBZMtPSyHRNd2TQ

Still love your channel y clothes fab thanks once again and I always have a giggle hope y we'll take care x
I agree with all you have said. However, I am a total frump, sweaty and grimy when I work in my garden. I’ve a big yard with many veg and flower beds.
Me too, and cleaning bathrooms 😀
Lots of good guidance to avoid frump. But I've found your previous videos showing examples have been more inspiring than simply giving advice.
Yes this is a wider topic and as its not just clothes there's less opportunity for demonstration. I'm glad you enjoy the outfit videos.
Agree! I’m a visual person. Maybe talk while pictures are being shown. Otherwise, us ladies won’t know what to look for or avoid!
Ahh, Annemarie... the jewellery. For me, it has to be vintage gorgeousness, all day every day. Unusual, quality, pre-loved pieces, at bargain prices.
I like both delicate and chunky jewellery depending on my outfit. But I’m more inclined to say that delicate is more old fashioned, generally speaking. But that’s just my opinion.
I also think jewellery is individual. It’s a personality trait. It says a lot about the person
I’m 53 and I love my Doc Martins and my cashmere cardigans.
I love my moto boots too. Love cashmere aswell
Wow that teal top is stunning on you
I am so glad I found your channel!! You really speak my language in every sense possible!! Thank you!!
You are so welcome
Try a side tuck at 1 side.
I use tape to tape down the loop end of my bracelet to my arm and then clasp it. Works like a charm.
Thank you so much very helpful
My go-to rule for a “NO” piece of apparel or outfit: Will this make me look like my mother-in-law? 😉
Lots of good tips. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
what's modern today with be obsolete in a few months/next year.
I love gardening and adore anything with flowers . I don’t care if I look old- I am. I have 7 grandkids and am 65.
I love boho but there are limits 😂
Those one size outfits too, because we are not one size and nobody fits a one size outfit.
Your first glasses really do look better. Very annoying. 😮.
The bracelet is so unusual. I like it.
Omg, I just watched your video, and I knew exactly what you meant by Italian tunics, and I am Italian😂. So true, and I had a good laugh. Definitely not a good look!!
I'm so glad you agree and I nailed it :) Thank you for watching my videos. I hope you visit again.
It is a restaurant with a big “country store “ and you would absolutely have a seizure if you saw the clothes in there 😂
Just found you - so great! I learned once that you wear a necklace or earrings but not both. I wondered what you
Oops sorry - I wondered what you thought? The bit at the beginning about garden centres was hilarious!
Your video is great! 😍
What about ethnic jewelry? What if you have beaded earrings? So pretty, not overdone. Do they have to go?
I don't think so. Ethnic can be worn as boho
Can you review Joseph Ribkoff tunics? Sympli tunics? Thank you.
They look lovely. I think you'll like tomorrow's video as its similar elevated style but cheaper .
Loving your earrings
Never too late to take good care of our skin
Capris - the only capris I wear are the hiking outdoorsy kind at home only for housework, gardening, walking and, or playing with my large dog. I love the comfort. I do not wear them out, any wear. I see so many women wearing yellow, pink, blue tight leg capris. Hideous 😕
I work ina women’s wear store in Australia and I do try to get women to try ankle length linen instead.
I think it’s more about not looking older than you are, as opposed to looking young.
Yes, imo it is very wearing to constantly hear, "look younger, look younger, look younger, look younger!"
"If you're buying clothes in a garden centre... stop." I chortled at this.
I love it when my audience enjoys my adhoc comments 😀
Me too. I started using very dry damaged hair conditioner and it’s helped. Then I wear a hat after washing it to tame it a bit.
I use a powder blush on top of my moisturizer. No foundation.
You only think brushing your hair back from your face looks ‘old’ because your mum wore it that way. I think it looks nice!
I actually think you look younger with it brushed back!
Oh thank you!
@@susiecastleberry209 Yes I think so too, she has a pretty face😊
I thought the same! It looked really beautiful🌷. It reminded me of the model May Musk🌷🌷
HI thanks for sharing connie :)
I love your leopard shirt, can you send a link please?
Thank you. its a few years old from Mint Velvet and sadly no longer available
@@Myover50fashionlife ok thankyou
Ive found one from the same brand simllar here #afflink rstyle.me/+ueEd6x3djp6zZTq9kUJUww
Whether or not flip-flops are attractive or ugly depends on one's feet. Feet have to be pretty to wear those. Whereas other shoes and sandals are more forgiving.
I really think that if you don't keep your body in shape , wearing stylish clothes wont matter to much.
I cover that in another video, and you are correct
“Delicate jewelry” is unflattering and just the opposite of what larger women need.
All good content thanksx

Can I ask a question? Are these just your opinions? Or, are you in the fashion industry?
It's what works for you.
I love my elephants on my back 😂looks nice though
Some great points here but disagree with the Maxi skirt one. I think unless you're tall they can swamp a shorter figure, especiallythe denim ones with the thick bulky material.. The Midi will always be my go to.
Haaaaaaaa Italy stuff I have one piece but it looks passable rather nice
Ah, you know what i mean then 😉
Where is the linke to the video on cardigans? Thank you!
ua-cam.com/video/NhvQKh4FUGM/v-deo.html
I'm overweight and under 5 feet tall...such an impossible situation...oh, yeah, and I live in the Northern Canada.
I hope you find some items on my website that could work for you. Also I did a video a few years ago on looking taller and slimmer.
Capris, tunics, anything from QVC - just screams frump 😩😩😩
I'm not sure if I mentioned Qvc n this video but I certanly have in other videos. Unless its a highstreet brand they are bringing like Monsoon, it does age us, generally, in my humble opinion.
More pictures would be helpful
Thank you
I bought a couple of pieces of Anna Luisa jewelry that another UA-camr was hawking - I guess their business model is to “gift” pieces of jewellery to YTubers for them to be the salespeople - and I was super disappointed with a solid real gold (not plated) necklace as not only was the chain so miniscule you could barely see the serpentine links, but it was completely made in China, unlike the rest of their “sustainable” green-washed jewelry.
I dont understand this fashion of tucking PART of one's Top into the waistband. Looks sloppy to me, and will soon be very dated.
I think bob haircuts are aging and frumpy!
Eyeliner on the bottom is aging.
Totally agree....
Birkenstocks and crocs are a NO -ugly.
Love your videos but do think you'd look fabulous with abit a tan , warmer makeup....only my opinion. ❤
Hi i agree. In the UK a fake tan looks odd until about May i think.
wow, YOU LOOK SO BEAUTIFUL WITH GLASSES, ON, MAN, oh man, i think i'm in love,...i'll be listening to OMD- SECRET/SO IN LOVE, ONLY IF YOU LEAVE, , CUTTING CREW- I JUST DIED IN YOUR ARMS, Eddie money- think I'm in love,,......AND OTHER SONGS FROM 1980'S......marius(punk rules), since i'm divorced well.......things are different
I'm over 50 and finding hard to find clothes that are not too young but trying to find shops that cater for middle age women, but not to old looking
The struggle is real. I add items regularly to my website that i think can work for us. myover50fashionlifewebsite.my.canva.site/
Have you tried Chico's? Dillard's? Nordstrom? Walmart's Time and Tru line?
When you are older.. glasses make you look older. Try contacts. I wear one lens to see far away and one up close.
Only wear capris in summer
Capris are the worst trousers ever...soooo frumpy ....l personally hate them😂
At 5ft tall the midis usually fit perfectly. They come to my ankles and I really enjoy that length.
Yes me too. Especially the midaxi on me at 5ft 2. Gives me the maxi look
That leopard skin pattern is an old ladies thing imo.
I live in my jewlery and one necklace holds a cross. The cross always stays on.
I disagree about fringes. I've got a cow's lick and look awful without a fringe. It makes me feel older and scruffy without one (I've tried!)
Also, see Jo Wood. She's always had a fringe and it certainly doesn't age her. I greatly admire her style also.
I watch Jo too. She has the fringe i suggest, side parting and swept sideways. I show examples of that effect in the video as one of the ways to go with a bob
You have given a perfect example of knowing what suits you and following your own path. Well done. 👍🏻🇨🇦😊
I dont know what a tunic is....lol top is tunic?
One important thing: leggings aren’t pants.
