Thanks so much F. Chen, Kenting is a great honeymoon "of sorts" location. It can be quite romantic, especially when its off-holiday and fewer people. With some of the most beautiful sunsets. One of my friends made it the location to propose to his fiancé recently. Thank you for your comment and support - I love exploring Taiwan and sharing it through the video. What a pleasure it was to watch this video about a sea coast village in southern Taiwan. We get to walk with Philip as he introduces us to some of the people living there before we head out to see a pristine sea and beautiful uncrowded beaches. There's surfing and scuba diving and Philip compares it to Cancun when he says this is different in that it is a quiet place of simple pleasures where one can relax and enjoy the food, the sea, and the beauty of gorgeous sunrises and sunsets.
Another great video! I notice you love to interact with the local people wherever you go, which is a bonus. I wish Kenting would stay like the way it is without further commercial development around the area. It’s beautiful as the way it is. I like the historical content in the other videos about the battle between Taiwan and Japan in the 1870’s before the occupancy. I’m a Taiwanese living in Canada and I have so much to learn from your videos. Thank you for sharing.

If for you western, maybe, cos Taiwanese Chinese people would love pretending super nice friendly to western people or rich people. But I went Bali before, they also be friendly to Asians and even Indonesians themselves. And Bali apparently more places to visit in which a small place. So I would say your video title is too much. I am Taiwanese, not Chinese, thanks for bothering.
Taiwan is not like Bali at all, maybe Kenting, but not Taiwan.. can’t compare this two together, otherwise, tourists thought that they are coming here party all day and night.
MiaY, maybe Taiwan can be a peaceful break from the party in Bali. I agree with you, Taiwan is much more calm compared to Bali or other popular beach destinations.

@@PhilipJames360 福爾摩沙遠征（英語：Formosa Expedition），又稱1867年臺灣遠征，是美國針對福爾摩沙（也就是今日的臺灣）的一次「報復性遠征」。遠征因羅妹號事件而引起。三桅帆船羅妹號在臺灣海岸擱淺，船員遭島上排灣族原住民出草殺害。美國海軍及美國海軍陸戰隊登陸報復，由於指揮官被原住民狙擊陣亡，美軍鳴金收兵而作戰失敗，這是美國海外的一場失敗行動。 後來事件在美國外交官李仙得協調下訂定南岬之盟平等條約，事件落幕。
1867年3月（同治六年），美國商船羅發號（Rover，又譯羅妹號）自汕頭開往牛莊，途經臺灣海峽時，遭風浪吹襲漂流至該島南部屏東七星岩觸礁沉沒，遇難船員在獅龜嶺海岸一帶登陸[1]（位於恆春半島上，今墾丁附近），一上岸就遭到龜仔甪社（今墾丁國家森林遊樂區旁社頂部落）的排灣族原住民出草攻擊，船長亨特（J. W. Hunt）夫婦等十三人慘遭殺害，史稱羅發號事件。唯一倖免的粵籍水手逃至打狗（今高雄），並向當地官府報告，由於這裡當時是斯卡羅的領土範圍，時清朝政府以枋寮至鵝鑾鼻是不載版圖（意生番地），而消極處理。
當時美國駐廈門領事李仙得聞訊後赴臺，1867年4月18日抵達台灣府[2]，希望能與原住民直接聯繫，但被拒絕上岸[1]。
經過
1867年6月13日，美國海軍兩艘戰艦載送181員海軍官兵在臺灣東南岸登陸，兵分兩路，分別由哈特福號中校指揮官喬治·貝爾納普及海軍少校亞歷山大·史密德·麥肯齊領導，在不熟悉當地地形的情況下，於未納入清朝版圖的叢林中行軍，遭排灣族人以火槍伏擊，麥肯齊戰死於墾丁，使得美軍放棄佔領部落，並撤至艦上，作戰失敗。
後續
美國駐廈門領事李仙得聞訊後赴台，1867年4月18日抵達台灣府[3]，希望能與原住民直接聯繫，但被拒絕上岸[1]。1867年6月，美國海軍派軍艦二艘、水兵181名遠征，在英國商人畢麒麟引路下成功登陸，惟仍遭臺灣原住民伏擊得手，遠征軍指揮官麥肯齊戰死，美軍撤退作戰失敗，美國政府態度轉趨強硬。
見到美國政府態度強硬，清廷才驚覺事態嚴重，恐開罪美方，便命令台灣總兵劉明燈率兵士500員進發，至柴城一帶（今屏東車城鄉）受阻於斯卡羅原住民的抵禦。劉明燈乃與首領卓杞篤見面，企圖說服解散聚集的原住民[4]。
李仙得見清廷方面亦不得要領，自偕同「通事」六人於9月4日扺臺，劉明燈不得已9月10日率兵隨行，9月23日到達琅𤩝[5]（今屏東縣恆春鎮）[3]。10月10日在琅𤩝與臺灣斯卡羅總頭目卓杞篤直接交涉[1]，雙方達成口頭協議[1]，同意歸還船長杭特夫婦的首級及所劫物品，並允諾將來海事受難者皆以「紅旗」為信號求援，表示對臺灣頭目的友好，也希望不再殺害船難者，是為南岬之盟。但美方要在象鼻山設立炮臺、燈塔的要求，為出席的清廷臺灣兵備道吳大廷、臺灣鎮總兵劉明燈否決，造成日後美方直接繞過清廷與排灣族「親善盟約」的另一項因素[6]。李仙得10月23日回到廈門。
同治八年（1869年）2月，李仙得再度來台確認原住民是否遵守該條約，2月28日與卓杞篤再度會面[1]，雙方正式簽訂了「南岬之盟」的書面協議，建築砲台、駐紮守軍、建設燈塔，並保證不攻擊殺害西洋船難者，羅發號事件始告落幕。
