Alaska would have likely been Mexican, as the US would have had a hard time administrating it in the 1870's without a western coast, apart from the fact that they had a civil war just a few years earlier, so I don't think they would've been in a good enough economic state to buy Alaska. Other than that, this video is amazing! I loved the idea of Mexico making the US paranoid during WW1, essentially not allowing them to intervene in Europe. Also, wow, Mexico went from monarchy, to republic, to a fascist dictatorship, to a communist regime in just 100 years. Wonder what Mexico would look like today. Would there be a cold war? Maybe between Germany and Mexico?
I think Alaska would most like have been Mexican since the British and Russia had a tense relationship and the US would have to sail quite a while just to reach Alaska if they bought it. Mexico and Russia never really had a bad relationship so I could see Mexico buying Alaska
How does Mexico just annex British Colonies (Belize (British Honduras at the time btw) and Jamaica), without Britain declaring war. Britain during the Mid-19th century during the peak of the Victorian era and British industrial revolution was the World power. Mexico would get battered by the British and would likely just lead to a greater British Pacific colony stretching from Oregon Country to Baja California.
I am not so sure the invasion of the US would have been a pushover. I think the US would have had a strategic interest in a Pacific coast to support Alaska and have retaken Texas. I also suspect California might have ended up an independent nation. Mexico was slow to industrialize why would that be different in this time line.
Do you know what happened to the two dictators? Well, the two Cubans joined the Congress of the Union and Mexican politics, they became governors in the state of Cuba. 1. Fidel Castro becomes the governor of Western Cuba and was part of the PRI. and his brother was also part of the PRI as a politician. 2. Fulgencio Batista becomes the governor of Eastern Cuba and was part of the PAN.
Realistically would've never happened, even if by god's grace in some uncanny circumstances, it somehow managed to end in a Mexican victory, Britain would fear Mexican Expansion (Due to the spread of Catholicism, and wanting to remain the dominant power on the continent). So Britain would likely team up with USA to resist said expansion and push Mexico back to the Pacific and likely even further to gain extra land.
@@easthustler3937also the usa is the one who started the war so Britain wouldn’t join as thats ironic blaming expansionism for someone whos getting attacked
@@RichD1 They never had a chance to win, the country was in turmoil, with revolutions happening on a day to day basis, when from empire to republic to dictatorship in less than 10 years.
@@RichD1 If you actually read what I said, when I spoke about British intervention, I was referring to the scenario where Britain actually won the war, not real life obviously.
mexico was extremely unstable and could barely control the northern regions which had 2 people in them and those 2 were you guessed it! american thats why i just cant take it anymore when i see scenarios like this / mexican whining over loosing the north / americans whining about "IT WAS UNFAIR!1" mexico at the end of the scenario would be as stable as liechtenstein trying to control siberia
Just because a NEW country can't exactly control some regions in it gives no right for another older one to take it away when it is clearly not theirs, especially through war. I don't care if Mexico denied those lands being bought, the U.S should've respected another country's decision. And yes there were Mexicans (not a whole but still) that lived in those areas that gave the Americans a good fight and defeated them a few times.
I'm pretty sure if some European country came in the early 1800's after the Louisiana Purchase and invaded those unexplored territories you would also be "whining." And yes it was an unfair AND unconstitutional war. Lincoln even opposed it and Grant regretted fighting in it but he had to.
