20! great to practice. i still struggle with the vowels... getting e i o mixed up :(
20 is a really good score, well done!
@@CommandingHands thanks. please make more finger spelling challenges!! love to practice
@@CommandingHands My issue is the speed on the last 15. I can do the letters ok after some practice but kept mistaking letters.
(L M N) (U S) and the vouls.
Yes I keep getting the vowels mixed up aswell. I only started learning 3 days ago so when they started getting fast i struggles quite a lot. But. Practice makes perfect 👌🏻
To remember the vowels I use this trick - A is easy- thumb, middle finger is I the tallest like the dot on the I, ring finger is O like a ring - that just leaves E And U is the pinkey
I did not see the “increasing difficulty” and thought I was going insane
I’m learning sign language during quarantine so this really will help with fluent signers, I’ve only been at it for a few days but I’ll hopefully get the hang of it. This channel is great
After doing the challenge and doing atleast five days of sign I got 14/35, I’m quite proud
A
I've been practicing your videos every day for about two weeks. Half hr to an hour a day time depending. Considering that's no time at all I am chuffed I got 11/35.
Thanks for all your videos, very very helpful!
After Olivia I was completely lost. Time to watch this over and over until I understand or I *DIE TRYING*
This is an excellent way to practice when you know the topic. I struggled when it went faster and had to replay the clips several times. Some I didn't get at all. Thank you for this, will have a go on some of the other quizzesafter my brain has had a rest!
Spelling is the worse for a dyslexic, I struggle with it all the time. Thank you for the clip, I stuck after number14..., is there any way/tips to help dyslexic improve spelling?
30! Just started learning BSL, and I had to rewatch a few of these to get them!
A very good demonstration of fingerspelling, love it!
I've just begun learning BSL, mostly because I watched the most heartwarming series and the girl who was deaf in it just lit up when her friends showed interest in learning how to speak to her so she doesn't always have to lip read (although this was a Japanese series and so they used JSL) Anyways, I also began learning it as I think being able to one day help someone deaf would be amazing and it would give me the chance to finally meet someone who won't interrupt my music as we converse 🤣
So a massive thanks sincerely to this channel and the others for making it easier to learn at home.
I was able to get 26/35 after learning the alphabet and my vowels, which I just happened to stumble upon learning on accident while trying to remember my fingers for this quiz.
If anyone sees this I'd like to know any advice on how I can get better at reading finger spellings quicker outside of just practice if possible.
In the quiz I found I mostly messed up on seeing the differences between U and S when said quickly, but I'm also just slow in general so most of the faster ones I had to keep going back to see it again in the moment lol.
I got them all right after I slowed it down to half speed and played each one about 5 times! Ha ha . Without the lip pattern that you would normally have when fingerspelling, it's sooo difficult for me. Good practice but really helps me appreciate what it's like to be dyslexic.
How do you slow down the speed??
I had to slow down the third section to 75%, otherwise I wouldn't have had a chance...even then I didn't get all of them right. Thank you, that was good fun!
After a lot of stress, i managed to get 29/35 but to be truthful some were guesses haha. Thank you for helping me learn more BSL, it will be great for when i become a teacher! have a good day :)
Got lost after 20, this is one I will be playing again and again, thanks so much though, love your videos!
This channel is so useful, thank you!!!!!
29! Those last names & speed of delivery were insane without lip patterns...🤣 Love this channel & passing it on...👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
35!!! I just started learning and I’m so proud of myself!!!
This is my first time watching a BSL video. I did pull up the BSL alphabet chart on Google, went through the letters once, but did refer to it about 3 times during the video. I had to play a couple names close to 5 times, but for it being my first time, I got 9 wrong (some were because of vowels or I misread a letter).
The ones I got wrong were:
-- John (I spelled it Jon because I missed the 'h')
-- Tyler (I missed the 'y' and put 'a' to make it Taler even though I knew it was wrong)
-- Finlay (I spelled it Finley)
-- Jake (completely missed the 'k' and 'e' and spelled it Jai)
-- Natalie (I did the nickname and wrote Nattie)
-- Maxine (could NOT figure this one out even replaying it 5 or more times... I spelled Meine)
-- Kirsty (another one I knew I was getting wrong, but I put Kory)
-- Brie (I thought it was Bill, lol)
-- Jude (my gut told me to put 'u' but I didn't think that'd be right)
24 but I had to rewatch them to get it. Thank you for a fun way to practise!
The slower ones I could read easily but had to keep stopping and replaying the fast ones but got there in the end. It was a good challenge!
20 I struggle with the vowels too, but great to practice!
I got 30 but I did repeat a few and had to slow it down haha. I've only just started to learn
As an NZSL learner, your numbers really threw me off. I didn’t realise they were different!
I found the first section difficult. Had to keep pausing and rewatching. Only started learning finger spelling yesterday though.
Manged to get 27. Did have to reduce the speed way down. Still great practice, only started learning a few days ago. cant wait to come back and try again at a normal speed next time
Gosh I m going to have to slow it down to a tortoise s pace🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💜💜💜
I can get to number 20 then lose it so I need to keep practising - thanks for the video
Well done and keep going! 🖐️
I just started learning BSL and I got them all!! Struggled a lot with Maisie tho
No problem from 1 - 21. I struggled with 22 (see comment below). 23 - 30 were generally okay but watched twice to check. 31 - 35 were hard and watched them 3 times but got them after 2nd or 3rd time
I really stuggle with the vowels. They were the first thing I learnt and I know them but when actually reading someone spelling them, I really struggle, which is why I struggled with Maisie.
same literally
I got 19 out of 35 I am happy with that but I confess I paused the video very often and I will keep trying until I get them all correct!! Good luck everyone!!!!
This time i just needed "Richard" for work talking about Richard the third... thanks 😁
I lost you at 22. Very good practise thank you 😊
Managed to get 27/35. I had to repeat at least thrice on the last 5 names. Good practice. Thanks :)
Like many others I have difficulty with the vowels at speed!!
Any tips or is it just a case of practicing more?
Thank you.
19! I’ve not been learning for long so I’m very happy with that :) I was lost from 21-28, got Karl, then was lost for the rest of them again😂 (there were a few before that where i was unsure too)
28! The last ones were really difficult though!! 😊
Great job! 28 is a brilliant score.
Need to pause and rewind every so often (especially with the vowels, it should be easy, but I get E and I mixed up a lot - imagine my brain when the name was Maisie), but I got 33/35!
21 correct and other 6 nearly correct with only one letter wrong or missing, the rest I had no idea, it was too fast to catch more than the initial letter. But I loved this exercise. Thank you
Could I possibly ask how I would finger spell Sonja? I don't know whether it should be phonetic or literally spelled as it's written? thanks in advance if anyone knows this! x
32. Sometimes he went too fast my brain couldn’t keep up!
I'm learning level 2 right now but I've always sucked at receptive finger spelling. I don't know why. After a couple rewinds I managed 34/35 and only cos I 'read' "Jade" instead of "Jude".
I got the first 10, time for a break :)
I got 31 right if it counts, because in all honesty some of them, pretty much the whole last half, i had to put the speed down because i too didnt see the increasing difficulty warning and just got annoyed at how fast it was. It wasnt the letters that got me really, it was mainly just the speed so i had to slow some and repeat them. I got jamie for james, maria instead of maisie, didnt notice the extra T on scarlett and got judi instead of jude. I also got ro?er and guessed it was roger so gave myself that point lol. Im pleased how well i did though, and if it was all a reasonable speed like it started, id of probably got more
what is Freddie and the letter D in sign language
I’m pretty much a complete beginner ... I got 22/35 ... which could have been worse. Is it normal to get muddled with the vowels, I can’t figure them out quick enough!
Hi were do I find the answer please to see if I got some right
I figured some of them not all but i think it is good way to practice, speed is something work on. in real life if i lose it i ask them spell again slowly. thank you
You said my name first lol 😂
i got 16... does anyone else struggle to focus? like i got jess to adam fine then lost focus. after that the only ones i got right came is sets of a few e.g. daniel richard jacob, natalie steve roger before i got distracted again. i got kirsty and nearly got a few others in the 30+ section, so while i’m no expert i know i could do better than 16, but i can’t seem to concentrate for long enough
omg maxine nearly tripped me up because i thought the x was an e at first 😭
It's always the vowels where things get confusing
I got 25 but I did have to stop and rewind alot! Any tips on improving as I am currently studying my level 1 bsl and want to be confident for exam!
Oh wow! 32 Out of 35 and ive been practicing for what? 2 days haha! its o and e i seem to be mixing up!
33/35... I got Maxine wrong (I thought it was Maxie) and I missed the last one Jude.
I got 29, but the first ones were easy to catch
19 out of the first 20 (put Lara insted of Laura) then got 22, 24, 27 and 29. The last 5 were a total mystery.
It's only my third day.. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it lol
I stuck at 31 & I still getting mixed up with the vowels.. ㅠㅠ
I got 32 right (although I misspelled 2 of those when I was writing them down 😅)
Just tried this one and had to put it on only 25% of the speed and I still got four wrong! Thought I was improving. This was hard! Still getting e, i & o mixed up and s & u mixed up. Ah well, I'll keep practicing!
even at .25 speed I was struggling. S & U are too similar at speed & I have to work out the vowels in order then just loose it all together...
The hand speed was literally so fast and It was very difficult for me to catch up there and I got the score 23/35 : (
Being new to this I cheated and slowed the play speed down….but I just can’t get 22!??
i wonder what clementine looks like in bsl o-o
“now a little bit quicker”
me already cheating on 0.75 speed: o.O
21/35 Which isn't great, but at least it's progress!
That's a good score :) Well done.
@@CommandingHands Thank you very much! Thank you for these awesome videos as well!
I got 35.
I learnt the alphabet in 5 mins and thought I must be a genius T-T then come to this
I got lost at the end of the names very fast but good practice. Have fun everyone learning.🤣
33/35 yayy
22 was really hard! I get stuck on my vowels
My dyslexique ass is struggling 😵💫
Gosh my brain hurts after this one !
Great way to test letters, but I wish you used all the letters of the alphabet! I don’t think there’s a name with z
34/35
Yeah
19 on that one, then I got lost! I’ll Definitely keep practising that one tho
the only one I missed is my gf's name !!!😭
I would like to thank you for not having a recording mechanism to show how long it takes us to get through........... you dont, do ????
After No 20 u went TOO FAST! Why? We are learning! U need go at same pace as before 20. We cannot read as fast as u sign. I gave up at 20. BUT I do think u are very good at teaching.
The idea is that they get faster so you can get up to the speed of people who sign fluently. :) if you fin fit a bit difficult, you can change the speed of the video? Just a suggestion :)
Thanks for your feedback, I'll make some more that have a slower pace throughout the whole video. After 20 it does get tough!
