Full speech: Jason Carter delivers eulogy at Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter's memorial service

Described as sometimes a sorority, Rosalynn Carter knew firsthand the hardships that came with the unofficial role of first lady and would keep in touch with those who were second-handedly elected into the 'first ladies club.'
On Tuesday, current First Lady Dr. Jill Biden was joined by all of the living former first ladies that have also filled the East Wing in the White House - the very office Mrs. Carter shaped.
Former first ladies Melania Trump, Michelle Obama, Laura Bush, and Hillary Clinton were in the front row, honoring the life and legacy of the woman who paved the path they walked as a testament to the unspoken sisterhood they share. shared her wisdom to how to make the role their own.
Underscoring Carter's devotion to his wife of 77 years, the Carter Center posted a 1995 poem he wrote for her, entitled: "Rosalynn."

She'd smile, and birds would feel that they no longer
had to sing, or it may be I failed
to hear their song.
Within a crowd, I'd hope her glance might be
for me, but I knew that she was shy, and wished
to be alone.
I'd pay to sit behind her, blind to
what was on the screen, and watch the image flicker
upon her hair.
I'd glow when her diminished voice would clear
my muddled thoughts, like lightning flashing in
a gloomy sky.
The nothing in my soul with her aloof
was changed to foolish fullness when she came
to be with me.
With shyness gone and hair caressed with gray
her smile still makes the birds forget to sing
and me to hear their song.

Jason, one of the most heartfelt memorial speeches I have ever heard.
And the plethora of nasty negative comments about her
Husband and & his presidency did not deter her or make her bitter but continuing being the loving strong woman she was. She was meant for these long journeys. She is happy with the Lord today.

I am a New Zealander. Mrs Rosalynn Carter was a tremendous woman. She walked the talk, she was an equal to her husband, President Jimmy Carter, and together they set the bar for a couple in leadership, who held to their moral compass as much as they possibly could. Thank you, Jason. You have a grandmother who had wit, gumption, passion. Your memories of her brought a smile. She lived a good life and will be remembered. Her institute for caregiving (RCI) got me through caring for my mother. I didn’t have any caregiving training and I had a hard time finding information about care, dementia, everything. I was lost and had to somehow care for my mother who was failing. Roslyn’s institute guided me with an actual manual and amazing webinars. God bless her, my guiding angel.

I was born in July 1970. They married 24 years before I was born. Before my mother was born. Amazing. I hope that Jimmy is as comfortable as is possible for someone of his great age.
