- 7th Standard Maths Question in IIT Screening Test 1983 Paper🫢
It is simple question based on decimal number conversion to rational number (p/q form).
There are 2 methods to solve this question:
1️⃣ 7th Class Method:
👉 Assume your number to be 'x'. Multiplying with 1000 in LHS and RHS, then substract both equations.
2️⃣ Geometric Progression (GP) Method:
👉 Create a GP series in the number by manipulating it. Then, use sum of GP formula, i.e. a/(1-r), where a'' is the 1st term and 'r' is the common ratio.

In 1983 education wasnt as free as it is today. Today just pick up your phone and search up topic you want to learn and voila you have it... in those days this was not at all the case... pick up questions from MIT papers of 1800s... those will be very easily solved by a 8th grader today... but that time it was very hard... same goes with this question in IIT exam

That every step and every thing which you take and experience in the maths will help you to think confidently in case of such situations where you get an irrational no. And you have to convert it into its fraction rather than round off.
Your brother can solve this problem and you should know that it is tough for 1st class student 2nd class student and 3rd class student
But easy for rest others
So from here you have to learn that each problem has difficulty level based on the problem solvers skills and age

Now we look at 0.357 recurring
Theres a simple short cut trick the number of digits aster the point , u can just weitye 9 instead if those no and put it in denominator means
357/999
Bit actually
x= 0.357 recurring
Subtract 1000x from x
U get 999x= 357
x = 357/999
Now u add the 2 form first and get
2+357/999
= 2355/999

Let 1+√2 = x and 1-√2 = y . they are irrational numbers, now add them x+y = 2 and yes it is rational

@@thegreatindianmemer6822 Bhai mereko pattern yaad hai ki x hoga and since three digits are repeating toh 1000x lenge, fir original equation ko 1000x se subtract karenge(1000x - x = 999x) to hamara denominator hamesha 999 ayega, this can be applied for all questions
