So you didn't show the mount because you are not going to use it but what about your viewers! Also what mounting system would you use instead? What specs does this camera have? 1080x60fps !!!! 1080x120fps !!!! I think you could of did a little better with the unboxing remember just because YOU are not going to use something doesn't mean we all will or if you do say "their mounts are too big" then show an example of what you would use.
Hi, is there like a Skeleton Housing, because of the Audiorecording! Is it right the Cam gets hot then switches off?? Where did you get this Bundle with the Remote? Thanks
Torn between this and the fdrx1000. Most of my filming will be in water. so im concerned as i heard that the fdrx1000 image quality underwater is disapointing while this one has a flat door so it should be better underwater. And also does 4k video make sense since most people cant stream in 4k. Which should i get ?????
+David Agostini you can buy a flat lens front door for the x1000 and get the same sharp results....the x1000 also has sharper image quality and 120fps at 1080p.....4K makes sense, because in a few years everything will be 4K and the technology is evolving much faster that it did with HD
I dont think the camera is advertised as splashproof like the AS200V and the rest of them they have rubber seals around the doors that house the battery and sd card and usb ports etc. ... My question is I have the AS200V and can you put it into one of the waterproof cases for the AS50???
Thanks for the review - how does this compare to the Sony as200v? I'm in that 200 dollar price range (go pro hero 4 also) and just trying to figure out what's the easiest to use and makes good video. From what I read it seemed like this had better video and the as200v had wifi/gps which I could care less about. Regardless thank you once again.
+DaBears08 the as200 has better video quality (sharper), and it has a splash/dust proof body. The AS50 has a lower price and an "up to 60m" waterproof case with a flat front element....you can however buy a similar case for the as200 as well
No GPS on this one!; Deal breaker so I picked up another as200v instead. I might eventually get the new wrist remote after I see a review on its usage.
+geneween64 No, the Battery of the AS50 is the one all the other ActionCams (FDR X1000, AS200, AS100, AS30, AS20, AS15, AS10) use. It is bigger. The battery of the AS50 is called NP-BX1.
Jello has nothing to do with steadyshot or not in most cases. Steadyshot just keeps the video frame steady and jello from high frequency vibrations affects each individual frame so steadyshot cannot do anything about it.
+Gerardo Capo price says it all! AS200V is 37,000yen with remote, the AS50 comes with remote, waterproof casing, for 24,000yen. USD around 350usd vs 220usd. AS50 for me!
+Vidar Berg just buy a standalone recorder. This camera is almost half the price of the as200v with remote and waterproof casing. The extra you save can be used for the Zoom recorder! Much better sound quality and more control
+Kitsune Ken .. another item, to save money. Nope. ..more work needed to synch audio. Battery for the zoom. ..record on - off at speed. Nope. If the As200 had the same tripod mounting, it would be perfect.
+Steve Moore Because it does consume lots of power and you only would look at it for a few seconds when starting the recording and after that it would be unnecessary (if you mount it to your helmet/back of your motorcycle, roof of your car etc.).
Steve Moore You don't need to buy it if you don't like it ;) I prefer to check my cameras from inside the car when it is mounted on the roof/rear bumper instead of leaving the car and look at the cam. Also the remote enables me to check all cameras I use at the same time.
I have both the Sony and the gopro hero 4 silver, both bought at around the same time, I always seem to get the gopro out because it has a screen, I found I spent too much time on the Sony going through the menu setup.
+Steve Moore I too have both the Sony and the Hero 4 and the image and video quality of the Sony makes me leave the GoPro on the shelf. Who needs an LCD screen for an action camera-its mounted! I do not find the Sony Menu to be difficult.
Buddy, the idea is that you are in the boat and your camera is encased in the waterproof enclosure being handled by your spear-fishing girl friend or whatever.
Question... does it fog up inside the case after 20 mins or so in use? I had that problem with the original AS15.
So you didn't show the mount because you are not going to use it but what about your viewers! Also what mounting system would you use instead? What specs does this camera have? 1080x60fps !!!! 1080x120fps !!!! ^ what he said.
it has 1080p 30fps and 720p120fps and too 1080p 50fps
Meeker Extreme it records at
1080p 60fps
1080p 30fps
720p 30fps
720p 120fps
These are all the frame rates and quality videos it can record at
and 720p 120fps
720p 60 fps
Have you tried adding RainX to your 4K camera's case to help repel the water?
Thanks to the video we know how to unbox the camera. What is about the major parts like actual videos taken by the camera.
so..where are the testing video's? :/
Imagine them. Transfer the initial thoughts from our hero here to your mind.
Hi, is there like a Skeleton Housing, because of the Audiorecording!
Is it right the Cam gets hot then switches off??
Where did you get this Bundle with the Remote? Thanks
phone
is there any application for the mobile with which I could do video editing ... eg: slow motion ??? for android phone
How long is the battery? Can you show what are the best stabilization setting?
does it have an external mic Jack for motorcycle blogging?
nope.
So which will you like to suggest Go pro hero 5 or Sony HDRAS50

+alex turner No...the buttons don't match....you can however buy a flat lens wateproof case (up to 60m) from sony

There was a piece still the plastics bag you never said what it was or used for
So will Az1 batteries work with the As50? Thanks for the vid, got mine on pre-order. lucky you getting the early release.
It takes the same battery as the Sony Action Cam 4K which is the NP-BX1
+geneween64 No, the Battery of the AS50 is the one all the other ActionCams (FDR X1000, AS200, AS100, AS30, AS20, AS15, AS10) use. It is bigger. The battery of the AS50 is called NP-BX1.
GOOD I got this SONT ACTION CAM and love it because of the Video, thanksWill do an ACTION Documentry with it and hope to get it posted
can you connect it to the app?
yop i have the camera its awesome
Is there no audio? My cousin gave me one. And I dont know where the audio is.
You didn't even mention that this model has a threaded mount so you don't need the housing to use it on tripods, handlebars, etc.
Just his initial thoughts. Wait for the later thoughts maybe?
Jello has nothing to do with steadyshot or not in most cases. Steadyshot just keeps the video frame steady and jello from high frequency vibrations affects each individual frame so steadyshot cannot do anything about it.
Put speed on 1.25, thank me later xD
tnx u l8r haha
I'm undecided between hdras200 and hdras50. Which one is better/recommend?
+Gerardo Capo price says it all! AS200V is 37,000yen with remote, the AS50 comes with remote, waterproof casing, for 24,000yen. USD around 350usd vs 220usd. AS50 for me!
hdras125 would likely be a good balance between the two
can you make a video how you mount the cam to a mountbike or something else?
+joko geht ab That's s great idea for a video. We make make that a Wednesday video here on State of Tech.
What does it sound like with the case
should i get that one or the as200v
Does it have night vision?
Hello!
what is the best cam between 200 and 50 ? thanks :-D
125 cam
No external mic input!!
that sucks!!
it had all i ever wanted, but that.
too bad.
+Vidar Berg just buy a standalone recorder. This camera is almost half the price of the as200v with remote and waterproof casing. The extra you save can be used for the Zoom recorder! Much better sound quality and more control

If the As200 had the same tripod mounting, it would be perfect.
Yeah, sync is kinda time e consuming. How about the as100?
Same problem with the tripod Mount..
It's the usual thing isn't it. Just shout louder.
Is it splashproof without the case?
I think it could take a small splash. It seems pretty well covered. I wouldn't risk it though. Put the waterproof case on it.
+jninnovation No, it is not splashproof like the FDR X1000, AS200, AZ1 and AS100. Without the case you would risk to damage it during rain.
Apply cling film for a quick hack.
Can you record while charging the battery?
yes it just signs your charging your camera
Why when recording not sound??
Should I get this or xiaomi yi?
The Sony HDR-AS50 Action Cam is amazing! You'll love it.
+StateofTech ya I think I'm gonna get this Sony action cam instead. btw, thanks for the reply
Sony AS50 or GoPro session?
sony as50
Why can't Sony just put an LCD screen on the frigging camera?????
+Steve Moore Because it does consume lots of power and you only would look at it for a few seconds when starting the recording and after that it would be unnecessary (if you mount it to your helmet/back of your motorcycle, roof of your car etc.).
LCD screens use up very little power, they have been on camcorders for decades, the design is all wrong on the Sony action cam range
Steve Moore You don't need to buy it if you don't like it ;)
I prefer to check my cameras from inside the car when it is mounted on the roof/rear bumper instead of leaving the car and look at the cam. Also the remote enables me to check all cameras I use at the same time.

150$ only for the remote?!
Has no viewing screen derrrrr
yeah that suprised me as well
just lick the lens! No water spots.
Mir ist das zuviel Bla Bla und zu wenig Kamera.
i m not gonna buy it unless they put the screen into the camera
I prefer my screen on the outside, but each to their own preference ;-)
wont do 4k = move on
Can you edit and display 4K?
Poor review .
is the remote waterproof?
maybe
you dont actualy need it because it has a very big angle and if you dont like it you can put the angle more little
Buddy, the idea is that you are in the boat and your camera is encased in the waterproof enclosure being handled by your spear-fishing girl friend or whatever.
is the remote waterproof?
I believe not, but you can always zip it up in a microwave bag if you need to be under the water at the same time as your diver actor.
