That's true, experience that in a little shotgun double wide trailer sized bar like Robert's and it's a whole other level experience. He is an amazing player and performer, and yes he can sing too.
did he play anything spectacular? all i saw was a bunch of jumping around. honestly there are a thousand more guitar players in that town who can play just as well as JD Simo
@@mrsockmonkey1969 I had the pleasure of seeing him live in downtown Nashville they're actually really good and I'm not a fan of country and that's all they play now they will play Johnny Cash but that's basically country but with a twist but this was always my favorite song that they did JD's not in the Band anymore by the way they can't replace him after you left to do his own thing drummer actually fell through the window at Robert's Bar and got hurt he recovered though he wasn't seriously injured actually sat down after they played their set really fun talk even brought my guitar and at them sign it really cool guys
Dang I’ve never seen anyone who quite becomes completely melded into one with his guitar like that since Hendrix and Stevie Ray! I heard recently that Simo is one of the few real guitar heroes out there right now and I believe it!!!! Wow!!!
AND, until you've had the opportunity to sit and listen to him first hand at robert's for FREE, you've got no idea where tone comes from. it's in the hands man. in the hands. and JD's got great hands. real musicians don't get jealous, but can understand beauty in all musicians who show forth the gift the good Lord gave them. PRIME example of a fantastic guitar player. easily the most original entity to come out in a long time man. dont hate =). enjoy it, you may never see it again.
Anybody watching this clip right now might as well throw their Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney, and Tim McGraw CD's in the garbage! J.D. Simo IS the future of country music if there's any justice left in Nashville. I was a regular at Simo's Phoenix gigs seven years ago and this guy will blow you out of your chair everytime! Awesome stage presense and one of the hottest guitar players you will ever see...
You were so right about everything man. You can't turn on the television now without seeing JD Simo fucking EVERYWHERE. But then again, nothing at all unpredictable has happened in the 15 years since you commented this.
@@mahadev7679 Well kind sir our Simo Stud happens to be the guitar player on the ELVIS movie soundtrack and has shared the stage with a huge number of legendary musicians over the last 20 years. Joe Bonamassa is on record calling him one of the best in the world today. I think he;s a little farther ahead in life than you or I may think..
i just have to jump in here and put in my 2 cents dude. i live here in nashville and i work at corner music where i get to see EVERYBODY. there are a LOT of great guitar players here, but not as many as you think. that being said, since everybody is awesome, it let's the true character of he player shine thru brightly. PRIME example is JD. he's the shit and there's nobody in this town that can touch what he does, out of originality and pure spice. it's beautiful what the boy does.
Saw him, in Nashville w/Don Kelley Band, when he'd just arrived from Chicago. With all the great, free music there, we all went to see JD 4 days in a row. He was mesmerizing, then, and he still is a magical guitarist! Go see him!!!
You know what's funny this is probably published one night that I was there years ago when he was still with The Don Kelley Band course is when they publish that shity rule that they couldn't let minors in even if we got id'd and had a marking on us I was the responsible one I wore that Mark like a sense of pride and that rule got shot down pretty quickly but only after I got the chance to meet the guitarist for saving Abel but I digress fun night all the same
I've heard of JD Simo before, his Burnin Live CD impressed me, but this cements him in my books as a top shelf player. I've been around the block with guitar and pretty much seen and heard most of what is out there from Hendrix to Segovia and everything in between and been playing 35 years myself so I'm no star struck newcomer. Tasteful choice of notes, a quality so hard to find nowdays & fantastic tone. A small Fender amp and a Tele, what a combo and he milks them for all they are worth.
Ive had the pleasure to see J.D. at Roberts 4 times..incredible and different each time..and a great guy also..good luck to him and his original project "SIMO" I saw he was on tour opening for Tesla..he deserves it..Im proud to say as a fellow guitarist he's great inspiration to keep playing and pushing forward..
rocked/blued - heel clicked (does he still heel click) - with simo when he was in his early teens. DAMN the man plays (with our musical souls). Got his 1st stuff on disc and Music on the Mountain. Love the heel clicking.
JD Loved his old Deluxe Reverb with the "special" VIntage-30 speaker, as we can tell from this video, unfortunately it got stolen in Italy I think it was? He may have had some rocket fuel too.......
The question is can JD keep up with Paul Gilbert I highly doubt it and if you have no idea who Paul Gilbert is lookup scarified there is a long list of people who to put it in terms could not keep up with his speed live it takes a really skilled bassist to f****** keep up with him to even play a set on stage with Paul Gilbertnot knocking JD I used to watch him all the time up in Nashville
Simo kicks the ass of anybody in the country mainstream right now. Name one Nashville puppet in the top ten who can deliver this level of talent and showmanship. When Taylor Swift decides to share the stage with this guy, we will all know who the real "entertainer of the year" should be!!
i saw JD at that same bar the don kelly bamd is one of the most awsome band every only one thing there way betere in person the are great the bass player was the bass player for johnny cash
well jd definitely kicks ass i have nothin negative but i mean brent mason down there in nashville records for damn new every country artist and plays live for alot of them in nashville and he's really rollin in the dough and he plays litterally every kinda music and he's all over youtube, but i'm not sayin jd isn't real sweet cause he is so don't take that the wrong way

I have to agree that his chops for this performance may not be anything special but the Kid can fuckin play. I've heard him do it a lot better In fact check out my vid of JD doin ghostriders

A man of culture too bad most of the songs sung by Eddie Vedder we can barely understand I however know every lyric to Even Flow still believe that that and Jeremy don't get me started on one last kiss I can't even look at the lyrics without shedding a tear that's just sad and not in a bad way it's lyrically beautiful but just sad
He sings in his own band. They are killer and it's a different style than what we are watching here. Dude is multi talented to say the least. One of the best.

This is what happens when you find a guy with heavy blues and rock influence to play in a country band. Love his playing. 👍
JD Simo freaking kills it with Teles
JD would kill it with a 2x4 with some wire strapped to it.

Saw him there around 2008- remember them passing around a bucket as a collection plate for the band. The Don Kelley Band was legendary.

Most impressive for me is him wearing a warm coat on stage. Im already dying in a shirt after 5 minutes
To quote my favorite line from "The Monkees" TV series (who can decide?): "Psychedelic freak-out!".
