Hi Laura, I find your love of life and your love of your pets very endearing. $100.00 is well worth keeping your cats warm, dry and safe. I totally disagree with the attitude that animals belong outside, farm animals yes, domesticated animals help to make a house a home. The dog/cat hair situation is a small price to pay for the unconditional love a pet or two or three can bring to a family.
Sorry Aaron. I have to agree with Laura here about some winter shelter for you outdoor cats. When I was a kid on the farm (Nyssa - close to your same area), we had plenty of outbuildings, but none of them heated. We had some hay and straw and piles of gunny sacks, and the cats were ok in average winter weather. But there were a few times when there would be an extreme arctic blast like we had this winter, and we lost a cat here and there to the cold weather. (Before I get blasted for this, it was decades ago when my I had no say - being a little kid. And back then, people on farms weren’t as sensitive and sentimental about feral barnyard cats.)
I grow flowers for the same reason. I don't care about putting them in a vase, I much rather watch them in the way God intended them to be. In the wind, smelling and looking beautiful. I enjoy them much more. I actually have to force myself to cut a flower in the garden before it's time. The bees, birds, wind, earth, and sky is counting on me to leave the flowers BE! That works for me. I enjoy planting them and watching them grow.
Me too! God’s intended purpose works best for me! Honesty raising its head, I don’t have enough to cut and also have some left to enjoy outside too. Not sure I would cut any if I did though. 😉👌👍👏💕💕💕

Laura, I totally agree with you about the Dyson. I have the same issue with it picking up small things. It could not pick up an Asin Lady bug. A bug! Just imagine. And I keep my vacuum cleaner, filter, and bin, very clean. Our older one worked well. Also, I totally agree with you on having a warm place for your "domesticated pets". Aaron, not all animals are meant to live outside. Particularly those that have been domesticated. If it is too cold for you outside without a shelter, it is too cold for your cat. They are just as susceptible to frost bite and other issues.

Laura, I’m with you concerning the cats having a place to get out of the bad weather. I feel the same way. I have a friend who has a farm. She has barn cats who hunt. She has a way for the cats to get into the barn when bad weather comes and provides them with little place (cat house) with rug or something insulated inside the little cat house. She provides water and feeds them every other day, which conditions them to hunt.
I’ve been known to grow things just because I like to see them develop, I’m with you Laura! And if you want a great vacuum with awesome suction and price, I highly recommend Shark!

Aaron glad you’re better. A few months ago I was so sick but tested negative too. I was in bed for five days and didn’t eat…didn’t drink…barely did anything.😂 PS-the last time I was sick was almost 17 years ago.

Funny story about cut flowers: my dad grew rows & rows of dahlias in our garden "for my mom." She loved to cut stems and give to folks for free.... We collected used beer bottles from the roadside to transport them. One night after finding 20ish bottles on the side of the road, i threw them in my car floor board. Wouldn't u know i was pulled over right in front of our house (for speeding), at night, blue lights going and gave my excuse for having open containers. The officier said that was the most creative excuse he'd ever heard!!!!! Thank goodness he had previously been given daliahs by my mom!!!! ❤

Love your videos. Good job on the kitties. Cats, dogs and more are warm blooded like we are. Even a veterinarian would tell you that. So yes, they need protection. Mine stay in, and strays/ferals that i feed are outside, or they would starve, also have some cat houses, etc. and boy did they need it with our recent ice-cold weather! And, of course changing out their frozen water daily. The weather is feeling much better here, and spring is coming! Abingdon, Va. area. (Southwest Va.)
Hi Laura! Thank you for talking about the Dyson. I bought one year ago and sent it back immediately . I went and bought a Shark Navigator and I love it. I have two of them . A navigator lift away for downstairs and a Rotator Lift-Away for upstairs. They are the best.
Corded or cordless? I returned a cordless Shark last year due to poor suction. I bought a cordless Dyson that is superior. It's important to do your research to make sure you get the proper model for what you're using it for.
Definitely not cordless. No batteries for me. Plug that in and go. Battery operated things are another thing you need to think about to charge and have power where is stored. So no, not cordless.❤

On cats in the winter: They are not native to cold climates and will not survive completely outside when it gets as cold as it does where you are. You gotta be responsible about that. They thrive now, this is evident, but look into the whole deal before you make any changes, please.

MD here. A bacterial sinus infection is a complication of a URI/allergies/nasal polyps…. FYI, most “sinus infections” are simply sinus congestion from the inflammation of a virus. Antibiotics are not needed. Time.
That’s what I have going on since the weekend before Christmas! Still coughing up some clear stuff, and clogged sinuses now. Whatever this virus is that’s going around sure likes to stick around.

I get fungus, aphids, and every disease you can imagine. I feel like I've tried everything. You mentioned vases, etc. what I love most are gifted arrangements in self contained clear, flat bottomed, cellophane wrappers that I can place immediately where it will permanently reside. Hashtag no fuss flowers. Love them sooooo much, I bought a bulk roll to wrap my own garden flowers the same way to gift. I love getting bunched but it’s often at an inconvenient time like when entertaining/hostessing. When the sink is preoccupied and the vase needs the step ladders to reach. I feel it’s rude of me to just place the flowers to one side until later in front of the person who’s brought them for me. Especially when the prawns are ready to flambé or the roasting pan not yet thrown out the kitchen window to soak in the rain! 🥴 You could do a show-how project on prepping a display in a cellophane wrap, Laura. One that is made with a bottom filled with water for a hostess gift….. 😃 🙏🏻

Yes to a warm place for the cats! If you have a wood door, it would be worth trying to train them to use an insulated pet door. If they'll use it, you'll safely be able to seal the other areas of the green house.
Your garden Laura, you do what you want. In our gardens we do want we want so go for it. Note: I do the same with cut flowers that people give me, let them die in a vase. Aaron is correct. Safeway bought Albertsons. I’m with Aaron- stay in your lane with the flower cutting. I’m sure you have a lot of friends and relatives that you could give a day to come in and pick flowers. Someone from the local church could come and pick for the church , someone for the hospital etc. I love that you leave your flower arrangement till they are just dying. I do the same thing and felt like I was a horrible person. Now I don’t feel awful-thanks for the enabling!

I had it also. I missed 3 days of work had a week end and was still sick. But went to work because the Np said I was good to go. So glad everyone is in the mend and hope Bethany feels better soon.

Laura, I totally agree with you about the Dyson. I have the same issue with it picking up small things. It could not pick up an Asin Lady bug. A bug! Just imagine. And I keep my vacuum cleaner, filter, and bin, very clean. Our older one worked well.
Also, I totally agree with you on having a warm place for your "domesticated pets". Aaron, not all animals are meant to live outside. Particularly those that have been domesticated. If it is too cold for you outside without a shelter, it is too cold for your cat. They are just as susceptible to frost bite and other issues.

Laura, I totally agree with Aaron. Live your life and don't worry about others. Enjoy those followers in the cut flower garden. If you prefer to leave the flowers, then leave them. Do not ever feel pressure to give them away. If you WANT to give those flowers away because it brings you joy then do it. Laura, I’m with you concerning the cats having a place to get out of the bad weather. I feel the same way. I have a friend who has a farm. She has barn cats who hunt. She has a way for the cats to get into the barn when bad weather comes and provides them with little place (cat house) with rug or something insulated inside the little cat house. She provides water and feeds them every other day, which conditions them to hunt.

I love growing flowers. I have never considered cutting flowers. It is definitely not a thing for me, I just admire them in the garden.

Aaron glad you’re better. A few months ago I was so sick but tested negative too. I was in bed for five days and didn’t eat…didn’t drink…barely did anything.😂 PS-the last time I was sick was almost 17 years ago.

Funny story about cut flowers: my dad grew rows & rows of dahlias in our garden "for my mom." She loved to cut stems and give to folks for free....
We collected used beer bottles from the roadside to transport them.
One night after finding 20ish bottles on the side of the road, i threw them in my car floor board. Wouldn't u know i was pulled over right in front of our house (for speeding), at night, blue lights going and gave my excuse for having open containers. The officier said that was the most creative excuse he'd ever heard!!!!! Thank goodness he had previously been given daliahs by my mom!!!! ❤

Cats, dogs and more are warm blooded like we are. Even a veterinarian would tell you that. So yes, they need protection.
Mine stay in, and strays/ferals that i feed are outside, or they would starve, also have some cat houses, etc. and boy did they need it with our recent ice-cold weather! And, of course changing out their frozen water daily.

Hi Laura! Thank you for talking about the Dyson. I bought one year ago and sent it back immediately . I went and bought a Shark Navigator and I love it. I have two of them . A navigator lift away for downstairs and a Rotator Lift-Away for upstairs. They are the best.

Corded or cordless? I returned a cordless Shark last year due to poor suction. I bought a cordless Dyson that is superior. It's important to do your research to make sure you get the proper model for what you're using it for.
Definitely not cordless. No batteries for me. Plug that in and go. Battery operated things are another thing you need to think about to charge and have power where is stored. So no, not cordless.❤

On cats in the winter: They are not native to cold climates and will not survive completely outside when it gets as cold as it does where you are. You gotta be responsible about that. They thrive now, this is evident, but look into the whole deal before you make any changes, please.

MD here. A bacterial sinus infection is a complication of a URI/allergies/nasal polyps…. FYI, most “sinus infections” are simply sinus congestion from the inflammation of a virus. Antibiotics are not needed. Time.
That’s what I have going on since the weekend before Christmas! Still coughing up some clear stuff, and clogged sinuses now. Whatever this virus is that’s going around sure likes to stick around.

You mentioned vases, etc. what I love most are gifted arrangements in self contained clear, flat bottomed, cellophane wrappers that I can place immediately where it will permanently reside. Hashtag no fuss flowers. Love them sooooo much, I bought a bulk roll to wrap my own garden flowers the same way to gift.
I love getting bunched but it’s often at an inconvenient time like when entertaining/hostessing. When the sink is preoccupied and the vase needs the step ladders to reach. I feel it’s rude of me to just place the flowers to one side until later in front of the person who’s brought them for me. Especially when the prawns are ready to flambé or the roasting pan not yet thrown out the kitchen window to soak in the rain! 🥴
You could do a show-how project on prepping a display in a cellophane wrap, Laura. One that is made with a bottom filled with water for a hostess gift….. 😃 🙏🏻

Yes to a warm place for the cats! If you have a wood door, it would be worth trying to train them to use an insulated pet door. If they'll use it, you'll safely be able to seal the other areas of the green house.
Your garden Laura, you do what you want. In our gardens we do want we want so go for it. Note: I do the same with cut flowers that people give me, let them die in a vase. Laura this year we finally have a car that fits in our garage, after we emptied out all the stuff stored in there, it has been wonderful not having to clean off the car every snowstorm! Love your videos and the information you share about gardening.

Aaron is correct. Safeway bought Albertsons. I’m with Aaron- stay in your lane with the flower cutting. I’m sure you have a lot of friends and relatives that you could give a day to come in and pick flowers. Someone from the local church could come and pick for the church , someone for the hospital etc. I love that you leave your flower arrangement till they are just dying. I do the same thing and felt like I was a horrible person. Now I don’t feel awful-thanks for the enabling!
