    Exactly my story too. Upgraded to this bike from my canyon endurance. Love the bike.. it just wants to go fast!

    I've had the 2022 iridescent blue version of this bike, now owned for a year and it's been flawless. Comparing this to my much loved 2012 sl alloy Giant Defy even with years of upgrades, you can see and feel how much advancements there have been over the years. This bike feels so agile, responsive and it urges you to go fast all the time! My stava account definitely tells me I own a fast bike. If your looking for something that is great at all road disciplines, I would recommend the TCR all day long. It's actually so good the new Propel looks like a TCR, I just hope this amazing bike doesn't become discontinued.v

    I have this same bike. I bought it in 2022 with SRAM Force groupset. I love everything about it except for speedy, steep descents. When my speedometer hits 64 kph or faster, the bike feels very sketchy and about half the time the "death whobbles" set in. I have decided to sell bike since fast descents are scary rather than exciting as they have been on my other bikes. I'm glad others who follow this channel do not have this problem, but I have read on the Internet of others experiencing uncontrollable whobbles at high speeds while descending. It's too bad because I absolutely love everything else about this bike.

      Did you try different tyres?
      I found the cadex 25s very unstable, since switching to continental 28s it’s like a different bike!

      I’m sure you’ll love it! I plan to make a follow up video soon, I’ve had a couple of niggles but on the whole it’s a brilliant bike. It’s also helped push me further as a cyclist too this year entering more competitive events. I’m super happy with it, it’s with me in Italy right now!

    Great review Mike, thank you. I'll hit subscribe. Was just in a minor car crash and my Trek Madone 5.2 frame was cracked. Just ordered this bike used from The Pro's Closet with a few minor blemishes (all stuff I'd have in a few weeks of riding anyway) for about 1,000USD off retail. Can't wait to take it for a spin. I bought it based on your review as you gave a everyman's perspective on why you purchased it and its potential flaws.

    I have the same bike and absolutely love it! Enjoy.
    I'm 177cm tall and run the M frame with 120mm stem. Had to buy the stem from Europe because we couldn't find one in the UK. Also swapped to GP500S TR tyres in a 30mm but will change to 28mm for 2023. They are very comfortable but do look fairly bulky. 28 should be a good compromise.
    Thanks for a straightforward rundown of your bike. 👍🏼

    Congrats. So shiny...
    I have the same bike. My only minor issue, is a creaking seatpost when it gets a bit of moisture......and I have to keep tapping the brakes when riding with mates 😁. The wheels / cadex tyres are faster than others in a crit (tested freewheeling down hills).
    Enjoy the bike Mike.

    • @S106R
      @S106R Рік тому +2

      To cure the creaky the seatpost, grease the inside of expanding wedge & after giving the seat tube a good clean apply a decent amount of fibre paste & you should be good. There isn't much gripper paste in there from factory & with all the alterations made to the seat post during build & fit you lose a bit.

    Nice color on your bike, I bought one at the beginning of last year, also a model without a power meter as I wanted to fit 165mm cranks anyway so it help keep the price down. I also wanted the hassle-free front end, no hidden cables. Regarding the saddle, on previous bikes I have been through many saddles until I finally got comfortable on Fabric Line saddles which I fit to all my bikes, however I removed the Giant Approach saddle from my TCR and put it on my single speed and have done many miles on this saddle and it is just as good as the Fabric Line saddles for me, so they got that one right.

    I’ve got the exact same bike and it’s great the SLR 1 freehub sound is very nice. Got mine in April did 2000 miles and now it’s in hibernation till April. I found the cadex tyres absolutely bomb proof. But have some GP5000 S TR to fit. Tempted to get some climbing wheels setup as a clincher.

    Hey mike - i have same wheels - do you find they dont hold steady in wind ? when I get a cross wind i find they really get blown , my other stock alu wheels on cannondale and trek dont have this issue for me.

    • @MikeJenicCycling
      @MikeJenicCycling  Рік тому

      Your other wheels won't be a deep rim though? This is just the price you pay for deeper rims, I don't use this bike in very windy conditions, but saying that the wheels aren't super deep so aren't as sketchy as a 50mm+ rim. Also if you're lighter it will effect you more.

    Had the bike for about 8 months. Love it. Mine is also away for winter. Really looking forward to the new year to get out on it again. I fancy getting an extra wheelset for it 25's on Scottish roads maybe aren't the best. I fancy a set of Hunt limitless with 30's. Really love the loud hub on slr1's so any spare wheels need to be equally aggressive. My cadex rear tyre blew out at rim 2nd ride. Running 25mm schwalbe Pro 0's. I didn't think 28's or larger would fit great on narrow slr1 rims. You confident it would be OK and not light bulb situation?

    • @MikeJenicCycling
      @MikeJenicCycling  Рік тому +1

      Glad you're loving it Ricky. I spoke to the shop about tyres and they recommended a set of 28s, I think it'll work well, especially being able to run lower pressures. Concerning about the blow out, what pressure were you running?

    • @ricky7396
      @ricky7396 Рік тому +1

      @@MikeJenicCycling Nice one Mike good to know. Thanks for making the video, and passing on tyre knowledge. Cheaper option than the new wheel set. I believe around 85psi. I hit a pothole going downhill at speed on a country lane I've never been on before. Its my first road bike, I've ridden cross and gravel bikes in the past for years, so was probably being a bit rough. They are good tyres the puncture was a sidewall weak spot, but I get along with pro 1s better, gave the x1 intact cadex to bike mechanic he races on them. Will try some pro 0 in 28's. Very much looking forward to better weather enjoy the bike and will subscribe to see what you do with it. Ps I put some assioma duo power pedals on mine BTW thru are great. Also looking to get it as close to slammed as I can next year will schedule a bike fit.

    • @MikeJenicCycling
      @MikeJenicCycling  Рік тому

      @@ricky7396 I also have the Assiomas, been happy with mine, although I have the uno. I assume you weight about 80Kg, the Giant site does indeed tell you to go to about 85psi for that weight. It's such a grey area, as hookless really isn't made for pressures above 72.5psi but Giant have tested beyond that. However if you went for 28mm tyres you'd be safely down at 65psi - www.cadex-cycling.com/gb/tire-pressure

    • @ricky7396
      @ricky7396 Рік тому +1

      @@MikeJenicCycling yeah think I was about 83kg for majority of time on tcr this year. I have a giant revolt gravel bike also. I have to keep notes to remind myself what to pump up to. Think I will order soon grab a deal over the holidays. Think larger tyres will extend the amount of the year its suitable to ride a bike like that as well. Cheers enjoy the holidays.
