I read it somewhere, the pillow is actually double side with Yes and No If one of the spouse didn’t feel like it, they just flip the pillow to No And if both on Yes side, then something is gonna happen ❤
Loid has been living with Yor and Anya for at least a week: No suspicions at all Loid talks to Yuri for 15 minutes: "Cop" methinks he has some blinders on around his girls
To be fair in this world people with actual super powers like Anya are unknown even to spies. And Yor is a really weird kind of assassin with a very unique personality making it very hard for anyone to actually even think about it.
Partly just.. yes. But there are also some other factors. - Theres been no mention of super powers being a thing within the universe. So someone being a telepath is not a thought you'd even realistically contemplate. Anya basically gets a pass on this one, theres really 0 reason for him to have any kind of suspision. His also entirely unfamiliar with children in general, so has no reference to how normal/not normal she is. - Yor... is the one you think he probably should notice. But Yor is GENINUELY a complete ditz. Its not an act, she is just a ditz which naturally provides her with fantastic cover. You'd never expect someone like her to be involved in something like she is. She also has clearly done an exceptional job covering her tracks despite that ditziness because Loid will have had background checks done her (Like he has with her brother) and they have come up entirely clean. Loid already suspected the Yuri might be in the SS prior to meeting him so he was naturally weary and looking for clues. Its why he jumped on the foreign trip mention, he wanted to push him to see if he would tell a "scripted story" which he ultimately did.
Yuri is wonderfully nuts. A few people are uncomfortable with his Oedipus Complex, but it’s a natural part of his character, although he takes it to extremes, which is why he’s such a funny character. You’ll get some serious moments from him in later episodes, but he’s a welcome addition to the insane Soy x Family world. 😂
What? You are sick bro if you think that way 😂😅 clearly Yuri said in the episode "I want you to marry someone who could protect you even better than I could and find true happiness". @@dddoodles
I love love love the angle that this show has about hiding parts of yourself from the people in your life. It's such a fascinating angle to take a spy story in cause it makes perfect sense to include but most spy stories would never focus on it like sxf does. I love using fantastical story tropes to talk about very human and tender topics like that. Plus, the comedy it creates is classic!
A little thing that was missed in the anime adaptation. This "timer" that Loyd has is a thing since the start of the show. He taught himself that everytime he is in a pinch to analyze and make a decision or calm down in only 10s. The only time his "timer" pass the 10s mark was when he puched the table in ep 4. Since he was so beyond pissed that, even if he was calm and collected in his conscience, his subconscious wasn't and made his body move on its own.
I was going to add this one, too. I get the feeling that Jessica is looking for a little more romance in this series. Love is War will provide that at a quicker pace relative to Spy x Family.
"He believed it!" This coming from Mr It's a new concussion therapy excuse from episode 2 when Yor and Loid were running away from those jewellery thieves. All three of them are incredibly naive lol. I think Yor was already enhanced somehow by that age, how else could a teenage girl reliably eliminate multiple targets? So Yor has grown up stronger than a normal person, so it really makes sense how Yor does not have a good idea of how strong normal people are.
Love is War (and this is one of the few series that are good to watch in either the regular Sub or the English Dub, which is very rare.) Quintessential Quintuplets My Dress-Up Darling Oresuki
If I recall it's canon from the manga that Yor was 14 when her mother died in the war and being alone and having to care for a little brother (who was a little kid at the time) she went to work as an assassin. Yes, it's been that long, and yes, in some ways that makes her a 'child' (Teen) soldier. That's why she is so unusually strong and also so unusual in the way she thinks. Poor Yor.
28:07 “I’m so excited right now!” Haha, now you and Anya share the same feelings. *Waku waku!* As far as recommendations, I don’t know if you’ve seen them, but here is a short list: -My Dress Up Darling: spicy, yet wholesome (slow burn) love comedy revolving the world of cosplay. Anya/Frieren’s VA plays Juju-sama in it. -Bunnygirl Sempai: A high school boy helps people afflicted by strange mysteries that affects teens. It has one of the best high school couples with great dialog. Anya/Frieren’s VA plays science girl Futaba Rio in it. -Violet Evergarden: A girl who only knew how to be a weapon in a war adjusts to life after the war in her quest to find out what the words “I love you” mean. Be prepared to cry a lot. -Komisan wa Komibyo / Komi-san wants to communicate (sorry, I forgot the English title). High school comedy and wholesomeness with a sprinkle of love romance. -Elusive Samurai: At the end of the Kamakura period in Japan (early 1300s), the young boy from the line of Kamakura regents vies for control of Japan with a charismatic warlord of destiny. A wild mix of artistic imagery, animation, comedy, cuteness, action, gore, music, and fun. Arguably the best anime in this summer season.
If you like spy x family, the closest thing that comes to it is buddy daddies. It's about two assassins taking care of a little girl. It's also an action comedy.
Well, if you want to broaden your scope a bit there's a romantic comedy anime called Kaguya-sama: Love is War that imo has a decent bit of similar vibe to SpyxFamily, albeit more focused on romance obviously. Top tier humor, great blend of silly and seriousness and full of mind games and secrecy and deservedly hailed by many as one of the best anime of it's genre (only getting better and better so far throughout its 3 seasons) ^^
So much this! That's the first anime that hooked me so much to go read the manga because it wasn't enough, I didn't want to let go of these characters. Ratings of this anime speak for themselves too.
If you are looking for another recent rom-com anime that was really good, I would suggest "Kaguya-sama: Love Is War" I'd also suggest ""High School rumble" as an older, but still good slice of life anime.
They really did us dirty with that cliffhanger lol 😂 If you're looking for a romance anime, one of my personal favorites is The Saint's Magic is Omnipotent, which is about a female office worker who finds love in another world. I found the episodes really cozy, heartwarming, and overall just had very good vibes ❤
The funny thing is...SpyxFamily is 100% a shonen anime, haha. It's basically the face of Shonen Jump+, the online platform for Shonen Jump. It's important to remember shonen is a demographic and has various genres. As forba recommendation, I think you will LOVE Dandadan! When it airs in October. It's also a Jump+ critical darling and has something for everyone. Romance, comedy, action, horror. It's going to be something special
Chichi to haha icha icha! Best sentence in the whole anime. The real changing in life when the feeling arrive that you are old is ... the allmighty Cheeseplate. Instead for something sweet.
13:44 subtle thing, but I love that Loid isn't thinking "I have to know if Yuri is a threat to my mission". He's thinking "I have to know if he's a threat to my family".
For recommendations, I second Kaguya-sama: Love is War. It has the same things I love about this series- it's hilarious and ridiculous while also having deep, compelling, well written characters and character growth. It's a little less action and a little more romance than Spy Family. It's just a really well written very entertaining series
Between this show and Frieren, you have some great reactions to theme and strong emotion, so my recommendation to break the shounen mold is a little out there, but absolutely worthy -- Girl's Last Tour. It's a story of two young women traveling the ruins of a megacity at the end of the world, trying to live and understand life, while optimistically making the most of what little they have. It is kind of a perfect intersection of the high concept, found family idea of Spy x Family, and the introspective, melancholic beauty of Frieren. It is also impossibly cute and really funny, while serious and thought-provoking. The art and soundtrack are also immaculate. Keep up the great work.
Interesting fact the group yuri is part of is heavily inspired and modeled by the Gestapo (How it was fundamentally formed and its overall organization structure is different however) which where the Nazis secret police from 1933 to 1945.
A broad range of different shows I think would be cool to explore: 86, Your Lie In April, Violet Evergarden, Love Is War, and Cyberpunk Edgerunners They're all very different and I think will be very interesting for you to react to
For recommendations I’ll say: -Haikyuu -The Apothecary Diaries -Link Click -Kaguya-Sama Love is war -86 -Monthly Girl: Nozaki-Kun -Snow White with the red hair.
Another suggestion that is not shonen? “Romantic Killer” is surprisingly good, definitely underrated and far more wholesome than the premise suggests. It’s a romantic comedy, one season, and spans the complete manga it’s based on.
It's so funny that Yuri wants to protect his sister. He doesn't know that Yor is probably the last person in this world who needs protection 😂 Also, it's really scary to think of that she already killed people when she was a little girl.
Welcome to the Slice-of-Life genre! Here are some shonen-ish Slice-of-life recommendations that are more wholesome/feel-good/comedy oriented like SxF: - My Dress-up Darling. A story about two highschool students. Gojo is a shy loner who aspires to be a doll maker, and Marin is a popular and pretty gyaru who is into cosplay. They become unlikely friends when he agrees to help her make cosplay costumes. Very cute, very youthful, very romantic. - Hyakkano (aka 100 girlfriends who really, really, really, really, really, really love you). A simple story about a guy, named Rentarou, who meets his soulmate in highschool. Too bad the god in charge of soulmates accidentally put two zeroes behind the number of soulmates he was supposed to have. Meaning he has 100 soulmates. Will her romance them all at once? He better, because any one of them that he can’t get with will die! Extremely cartoonishly zany in both concept and execution, lots of anime references. - Komi Can’t Communicate. A story about a high school ice queen, who is actually a cinnamon roll in need of friends. Her goal is to make 100 friends. Some chad named Tadano helps her learn how to communicate and socialize. - Love after world domination. A Power Rangers parody. The red ranger falls in love with one of the lieutenants of the villain team. They date in secret, pretend to be enemies, and are noobs at romance. Rom-com shenanigans ensue! Short but sweet and fun. - Recovery of an MMO Junkie. A story about a socially awkward woman who quits her job and spends her time and savings on playing a new MMO game. She roleplays as a male player, keeping her true identity a secret, and becomes good friends with a female player whose identity is secret as well. More subtle than the other recommendations in almost every aspect, but every bit as feel-good. - Uzaki Chan wants to hang out. A college guy runs into his old highschool underclassmen, Uzaki Hana, who is a feisty short stack tomboy. She constantly pesters him about hanging out and he begrudgingly puts up with her antics. Meanwhile, everyone around them is wondering why they aren’t dating. Not as wholesome, but leans in on comedy. - Sweetness and lightning. A story about a father and a daughter. The dad struggles to raise her alone because he can’t cook. So they befriend a highschool girl who works at a family restaurant that teaches him how to cook. If you think Anya is cute, the little girl in this show will melt your heart.
A little late but since you asked for recommendations: I love slice-of-life anime but I don't know if they would be slow and way too peaceful for you :D These mine that didn't see recommended before: Bocchi the Rock - short, music, cute :) K-On - a very BIG classic. Music, a little slow maybe. The Way of the Househusband - retired ex-yakuza member become a househusband :) Little Witch Academia - fantasy. Witch-school There are some classics you could try, not necessary slice-of-life: Ranma 1/2 (new or old), Slayers (fantasy), Cardcaptor Sakura (take insulin ready :D ), Vision of Escaflowne (fantastic soundtrack and story)
Saw some good suggestions of anime you might like. Bochi the Rock - Short one season/high school music/slice of life My Dress Up Darling - Short one season/high school/slice of life Apothecary Diaries - two seasons?/good plot/thinker/slice of life My few other suggestions Your Lie in April - Short twoish seasons/emotional ups and downs/high school music/drama/slice of life Keep your Hands off Eizoken - Short one season/creative/high school art club/slice of life Laid Back Camp or Yuri Camp - 3 seasons?/relaxing/chill out/camping/just relax/slice of life March Comes in Like a Lion - 3 seasons?/emotional ups and downs/Maybe more down moments which makes the ups better/drama/slice of life I think you would like sports anime. They are very much like shonen action but with slice of life mixed in. Haikyuu - 5ish seasons?/high school/volleyball/probably the best known in this genra Yowamushi Pedal - 4ish seasons?/high school/road cycling Blue Lock - one season/High School/Soccer/I don't like it but I'm in the minority Aoashi - one season/High School/Soccer/I like this way better then Blue Lock but probably in the minority again Dance Dance Dancer - one season/high school/dancing/ ok but you might get more into it with your background.
Just something to point out if it wasn't already mentioned, it wasn't actually a year. Thats how long they decided to have Franky forge to say how long they were already married before announcing it.
There's another work I'd like to recommend. It's the anime Lady Oscar, which aired in 1979. Manga artist Riyoko Ikeda drew this masterpiece in 1972 when she was 25 years old, and it became a huge hit, sparking a huge boom at the time. I still cry when I remember the famous scenes. In fact, a new theatrical version of Lady Oscar is currently in the works, scheduled to be released in 2025. I'm looking forward to it!
That cliffhanger was meeeeaaaan hahaha 🤣🤣😂😂 I can't even imagine how it felt for the people who watched this weekly, I binge watch it so I didn't have to wait hahaha. I'm not sure if you are into sport animes but I watched Haikyuu after finishing Spy x Family so maybe you can watch it as well. It has comedy and the matches are intense. Now if you like Shonen, one that I can recommend is Hunter x Hunter and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, those two are amazing 😊😊
I typically watch shonens too but my favorite anime is Steins Gate! It's different than most things on the channel it's a suspense/sci-fi with comedy and romance where you grow attached to the characters and you stay on the edge of your seat once it gets going! Even if you don't watch it for the channel I definitely recommend to watch on your own time
I've recently become a bit of a fan of the "Villainess" animes. Some of the latecomers are a little formulaic, but some like -- My Life as A Villainess, All Routes Lead to Doom -- and I'm the Villainess, So I'm Taking Down The Final Boss are worth a look.
It was fun to see her try to guess what's gonna happen about the kiss, if you know what's gonna happen then you know there is 0% chance she would ever get it right.
Maybe you could check out some shoujo genres like A Sign of Affection, and My Happy Marriage. I enjoyed both of these series. The Apothecary Diaries was also excellent. 🥰
SpyxFamilys intrigue, humor and adorableness are so well balanced. What if it was the aforementioned meteors that interrupted the kiss? 😅 Not anime, but... I mostly read seinen manga, there's 3 exceptions in my library: SpyxFamily, Akane-Banashi and Smoking Behind the Supermarket With You. All of which I suggest (especially the 2nd one) :)
I read the manga first and I got quite far before I had to drop it. In the Manga, the scene where Yor says She forgot to inform Yuri, the manga had an entire page just dedicated to their facial reactions. It was just half of the page plastered with Yor's dumb expression and the rest of the page was Loid and Yuri's baffled expressions! I swear I couldn't turn the page because I laughed my freaking ass off 😂I spent way too much time on a single page because their collective dumb expressions just got me rolling XD
Not like SpyxFamily but I think you may like "7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy!" and "The Reason Raeliana Ended up at the Duke's Mansion". They are pretty underrated imo.
I would like to list works from the past 10 years that remain in my heart (probably works that you haven't seen). Also, I haven't watched all the anime, so I think there are many other great anime out there. Works others mention in comments: ・Violet Evergarden ・Attack on Titan Works that others have not mentioned in comments: ・Reincarnated as a Slime ・Mushoku Tensei ・The Eminence in shadow
Jormungand anime and black lagoon about mercenaries its an anime classic i consider it a classic like 2010-2015 era hope u watch and upload it here hehe
if you're interested in a romance anime that also deals with hiding some parts of ourselves, i can totally recommend you horimiya!! it's really cute and and it has funny moments, character development, interesting characters and overall it' really good!!
If you're interested in Yor's actual job activities, I don't think it's a spoiler to mention that the "cruise ship" arc is worth the wait Glad you're enjoying the show; I really love it myself
Anya is so obsessed with Spy cuz she was programmed to be one in some place and she escaped. IMO, twilight’s original mission is connected somehow with Anya ‘s former lab.
I tend to comment this every time but: Yuri isn't an incest angle. Yes. I _know_ what it looks like. It's an _immaturity_ thing. In Japan around the mid-century and still in rural areas, the eldest sibling becomes co-parent at a certain age and their younger siblings come to them as middle managers for things like permission to stay outside or even allowance. Because of this dynamic, the very real thing where a kid develops a precocious crush on their much more capable older sibling. People know this. It's humored. It's _expected_ that they'd have grown out of this by the time they hit double-digit age. When they _don't_ it's not considered an incestual thing-it's a _dependency_ thing. They're not growing up. They're continuing to be _the younger sibling_ instead of growing into _an adult_ like they're supposed to.
But he Isn't love his sis romantically he wants her to get married he said Himself in ep 2 and he just thinks loid is kind a sus and he is too much over protective to yor. author said himself
If you like sweet animes I would recommend to watch "Recovery of an MMO junkie". It is a very sweet series (like this one) but without all the spy stuffs. It has only 10 episodes.
17:43 My favorite joke of the series. "What does she see in him? Just because he's handsome, and smart, and tall, and a doctor..."
such a family dynamic. telepath daughter, spy agent father, assassin mother, and gestapo uncle. it's like a sitcom. lmao
More like an incestuous uncle
GESTAPO UNCLE LMAO I surprisingly haven't heard or thought that before
AND ALSO one more person.. But I'm not gonna spoil
Nah more Stasi instead of Gestapo xD
What’s a gestapo uncle?

It’s a romantic comedy, one season, and spans the complete manga it’s based on.
"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHH ?????????!!!!!!!!!!" might be my favorite Yor moment
It's so funny that Yuri wants to protect his sister. He doesn't know that Yor is probably the last person in this world who needs protection 😂
Also, it's really scary to think of that she already killed people when she was a little girl.
Yuri calling him Loidy, it's so funny 🤣
Welcome to the Slice-of-Life genre! Here are some shonen-ish Slice-of-life recommendations that are more wholesome/feel-good/comedy oriented like SxF:
- My Dress-up Darling.
A little late but since you asked for recommendations:
I love slice-of-life anime but I don't know if they would be slow and way too peaceful for you :D
These mine that didn't see recommended before:
Bocchi the Rock - short, music, cute :)
K-On - a very BIG classic. Music, a little slow maybe.
The Way of the Househusband - retired ex-yakuza member become a househusband :)
Little Witch Academia - fantasy. Witch-school
There are some classics you could try, not necessary slice-of-life: Ranma 1/2 (new or old), Slayers (fantasy), Cardcaptor Sakura (take insulin ready :D ), Vision of Escaflowne (fantastic soundtrack and story)
*whispers* i know you say she's 4 a lot, but she's actually 5 (pretending to be 6!)
Saw some good suggestions of anime you might like.
Bochi the Rock - Short one season/high school music/slice of life
My Dress Up Darling - Short one season/high school/slice of life
Apothecary Diaries - two seasons?/good plot/thinker/slice of life
My few other suggestions
Your Lie in April - Short twoish seasons/emotional ups and downs/high school music/drama/slice of life
Keep your Hands off Eizoken - Short one season/creative/high school art club/slice of life
Laid Back Camp or Yuri Camp - 3 seasons?/relaxing/chill out/camping/just relax/slice of life
March Comes in Like a Lion - 3 seasons?/emotional ups and downs/Maybe more down moments which makes the ups better/drama/slice of life
I think you would like sports anime. They are very much like shonen action but with slice of life mixed in.
Haikyuu - 5ish seasons?/high school/volleyball/probably the best known in this genra
Yowamushi Pedal - 4ish seasons?/high school/road cycling
Blue Lock - one season/High School/Soccer/I don't like it but I'm in the minority
Aoashi - one season/High School/Soccer/I like this way better then Blue Lock but probably in the minority again
Dance Dance Dancer - one season/high school/dancing/ ok but you might get more into it with your background.
It was quite cute the way she thought Yuri was going to make things less complicated.
More of this episodes please
I love your reaction so much!
Shonen plus comedy=Gintama
Adult plus comedy=Prison School
I bet even Flexie didn't expect everything she wanted with Yor and Loid's relationship to happen and go from 0 to 100 in one episode XD
It was fun to see her try to guess what's gonna happen about the kiss, if you know what's gonna happen then you know there is 0% chance she would ever get it right.
As for recommendations, I would strongly suggest: "Kaguya sama Love is War" & "Horimiya"
I think you would live Apothecary Diaries!!!! ❤
Maybe you could check out some shoujo genres like A Sign of Affection, and My Happy Marriage. I enjoyed both of these series. The Apothecary Diaries was also excellent. 🥰
Excelente reação 😂💙
SpyxFamilys intrigue, humor and adorableness are so well balanced. What if it was the aforementioned meteors that interrupted the kiss? 😅
Not anime, but...
Works others mention in comments:
・Violet Evergarden
・Attack on Titan
Works that others have not mentioned in comments:
・Reincarnated as a Slime
・Mushoku Tensei
・The Eminence in shadow
I forgot an important program.
・Oshi No Ko
Who else was excitedly waiting for Jay's reaction to the utterly brutal cliff hanger?
Yuri: "I wanted to be a man who could protect my sister." Yeah, uhm, I don't think Yor really needs anyone to protect her.
Every girl reacter was upset with the last cliffhanger :D
wooooooooo les goooo!!!
Jormungand anime and black lagoon about mercenaries its an anime classic i consider it a classic like 2010-2015 era hope u watch and upload it here hehe
I second anyone who has suggested Kaguya sama... hilarious anime and warm and fuzzy at the same time.
I think you would love Re zero and it's characters. Third season comes out in Oct. If you wanted to plan around engagement.
if you're interested in a romance anime that also deals with hiding some parts of ourselves, i can totally recommend you horimiya!! it's really cute and and it has funny moments, character development, interesting characters and overall it' really good!!
This ep got Flexie acting just like Yor lol
If you're interested in Yor's actual job activities, I don't think it's a spoiler to mention that the "cruise ship" arc is worth the wait
Glad you're enjoying the show; I really love it myself
Older show, but Revolutionary Girl Utena might be for you.
Anya is so obsessed with Spy cuz she was programmed to be one in some place and she escaped. IMO, twilight’s original mission is connected somehow with Anya ‘s former lab.
Based on your reaction to this episode I definitely think you’d enjoy Kaguya Sama Love is War.
Arakawa Under the Bridge
t. someone who has seen over 72 days worth of anime
Tqvm.....😊nice !
The last time I had this level of fun watching an anime, I think it was more slice of life anime.
If I had to pick one, it would be Azumanga Daioh.
Jess really tryna see Loid steal 1st base huh 😂
if you like this style of anime, try it buddy daddies and miss kobayashi, I hope it also has a dr.stone reaction 🙏
If this is making Flexie scream
then Kaguya-sama is going to end her
スパイファミリーは私の好きな作品のひとつです。
NARUTOや鬼滅の刃も…
そんな私がお勧めするのは、以下の2作品です。
ヴァイオレット・エヴァーガーデン
カウボーイビバップ
YOSHI! TAKE LOID NOTES!
I dont want to dictate or talk to you how you should do things, but next episode of Frieren would be appreciated just sayin :D
cliffhangerrrrrr!!! lol
Same flexi same 😂😂
What if all of this disappeared spy is actually a result of false information about the mission(basically these no danger at all)
If you like sweet animes I would recommend to watch "Recovery of an MMO junkie". It is a very sweet series (like this one) but without all the spy stuffs. It has only 10 episodes.
Sweetness and lightning is sweet anime aswell plus you can buy the recipes to make :)
As far as anime kinda similar to this
Have you watched “Assassination Classroom” ?
