Definitely agree on wishing there more Kei cars in the U.S.! There are so many cool ones, especially the turbo ones to get around the 660cc limit and still have decent power. Another superb video Jake! Thank you!
Picking up one of these on Wednesday thanks for your video really cool insight didn’t sound overly produced or thought of you literally just went with the flow great job
Engine is a Goldwing motorcycle engine cut in half and thats a real half as the cylinder head gasket is a fit to the full engine of Goldwing. very light controls and maximum speed was "Denso" (end stop makers name of gauge).
Is this confirmed or your speculation? I'm asking only because I have had the same thought. A goldwing engine would do well in the acty. Shaft driven with electronic reverse.
@@shane6961 I was working at a Honda dealership, it was my delivery vehicle and this is what we were told. I have personally seen the head gasket and the parts. Do be aware it means looking at engine size as its a smaller set of mounts etc.
@@garethdancer625 Interesting! Definitely some fabrication need to mount it but its something I've thought about for a bit now. A goldwing engine and its parts are easily sourced in Canada while the Beat engine (which is where I was leaning towards) is more of a challenge.
@@shane6961 The one I used was older 2 cylinder model and had a gearbox with actual reverse so do look at what you get before jumping in as the electric reverse will be more stressed (believe its run from starter motor)
Jake I’m gonna need you to get ahold of a Grumman LLV mail truck and compare the driving experience. Those babies do 92 HP and only occasionally catch on fire
When I worked out at Beechcraft they had a bunch of the Mitsubishi ones out there. They had several pickups like that and they also had several seven passenger vans that used to go all over the plant. I'll bet if you know somebody out at Textron, you could probably pick one of them up for next to nothing because I know they still use them from
Awesome video! Makes me want to get one even more...I think the Daihatsu Copen and the Suzuki Alto Lapin SS are my two favorite kei cars I could import here to Canada at the moment!
Love these, in the uk we had a home grown version i assume on license but badged as a Bedford 'rascal'. Got a bit of a following over here getting lowered and pimped.
Awesome. Have almost same one. Just got in my channel and love the net you got on the back. Where did you happen to get that. Thanks ahead and great video
Thank you for a great detailed review. Inner-city yes, like many compact cars. Highway not so much, had Sidekick think behind would hurt after half-hour of driving/riding. Thinking JR could use a couple for the WAREHOUSE. Work in a large warehouse thinking good substitute for golf carts. Cab forward - like Isuzu NPR box truck. OMG - why couldn't Bohemouth US car makers create one of these knockoffs.
@@jelaniashanti545 it’s just like any other vehicle. There’s nothing different. Anybody who knows how to turn a wrench can do basic maintenance on these trucks.
There are a handful of these made by different mfg; Honda, Suzuki, Daihatsu, Subaru, and I maybe Hilux(toyota I think), to name the ones I know of. Can anyone point me to a review/ comparison and/or good forum, website or group for info relating to parts availability, reliability, etc.. And of course the various options to acquire one here in the US, particularly in the desert SW. Needing one for my small farm, so need 4x4 and dump bed, AC optional. Thank you for any help.
Wanna see somebody driving one of these mini-trucks get pulled over and have the officer completely weirded out because he went to the normal drivers side but there’s nobody there.
The symbol of the invasion of Japan in the past. "It's the Rising Sun Flag!!!" The Rising Sun Flag is the same as the German Nazi pattern. I live with my thoughts.
This video really *Acty* -vated the part of my brain that wants to buy a right-hand drive vehicle
Unfriended.
@@100PercentJake lol excellent response I have no idea what Elliot is thinking btw this is 100% better then the BMW tray

"If you hit a pedestrian, you die and the pedestrian is just fine." That had me rolling! Thanks for showcasing this microtruck!
It's got a sort of charm as a runaround, low running costs😊👍👍
Congrats on hitting 7k subs. I hope it continues to grow...

I've thought about getting one of these for around the house - I have an old beat-up geo tracker that may be used instead.
Man did you just back through the drive thru? Haha sweet. That honda is awesome, I totally want one now
Needs an LS-swap i think.

Love the video Jake great job on bringing something that most people have never seen keep it
Perfect car for a Rally's or Checkers double drive-thru! 🤣
Jake is the new Doug Demuro....but no mention of 'quirks and features'

So cool but I’d want the Subaru version
I'd drive it. What a Geekmobile! Kinda reminds me of the 60's dragster/muscle car L'il Red Wagon lol!
I love mine. I daily drive it and have driven it all over Texas.
Who do you take it to if something goes wrong?

I've been contemplating on getting one of these for my business, maybe a bigger one that can fit 4 people as my daily driver.
Whenever I think about Japan, this is what I imagine them driving around in. Small small city cars. 👍
I own a 1992 suzuki carry love this video
I'm thinking of buying one, have you had any issues with it so far?
Just like the old traditional vans from the seventies and eighties before they started putting the wheels out in front of them like the aerostars
It looks like a tadpole. Cool.
How did you get your state to approve of you using your Japanese Plates?
You don't have to lean like a motorcycle it's not going to tip over taking off roading you'll love that those things work wonderous
Jake is trolling us - the intro song is by a band called "Vans in Japan?"
That segment reminded me of the end of an episode of Wheeler Dealer where they present the subject car .
That looks cool!!👍🏽👍🏽
No run about 7080 tops but they're comfortable at 60 miles an hour

Maita is heavy
The Mitshubishi minica dangan is 1,300lbs
And the Mitshubishi pajero mini a 4 wheel drive is 1,880lbs
Wanna see somebody driving one of these mini-trucks get pulled over and have the officer completely weirded out because he went to the normal drivers side but there’s nobody there.
does anyone know how big the cab is? would someone who is 6' 2 fit
Chrysler K cars were awesome too!
Luv my Kei cars
No subwoofer? Ha challenge expected
Is it to small for someone 6 foot tall ?
How much did you pay for it?
Does it come in a Platinum Edition?
I'm 100% buying my friend who owns it a "texas edition" badge for Christmas.
48km = 30mph.
64km = 40mph.
80km = 50mph.
"I don't know which part of this I should point to my face" Uhm, no parts maybe?
That thing looks like a death trap.
And that's what makes it fun:)
Farm nsx. Nipon 😁😁😁👍
I would TOTALLY rock a KEI 🚚!

Have you been following Jimmy Oakes kei truck adventures?
how tall is to tall for a person to sit in this truck
Well I'm 5'6" and it fits me perfectly
OK how much were you smoking before you film this
need
Yeah. Not showing this to my wife as a selling point. Die, sketchy, and crumple zone are used way to much.
I have acty truck.enjoy
The Acty is under 2k lbs
It's safer than your motorcycle I can assure you of that

just why people are so strange, they're just perfect basic
Don't be a chicken but put your foot on it You act like you scared to drive it maybe you shouldn't take it off roading
Ummm, i don't believe that Japanese Imperial Flag is appropriate......
