Glad some people are finding stuff to be excited about. This year's list is a total miss for me. This'll be the first time I completely skip RSD in years.
Very underwhelming list for sure. There hasn't been much in the way of "wants" for me in quite a long time. Usually, there's at least one or two that I may want but don't have to have. The last time I had to have a record was Bastille Unplugged but that was almost impossible to get and I'm not over paying for a record. As it is the vinyl prices are too high for the most part.
The Monkees album is actually a mono pressing which the "true mono mix" is the rarest monkees album ever and sells for hundreds to over $1000 sometimes on the rare chances it shows up. It sounds great and is actually one of the most exciting pressings for Monkees nerds like myself.
EXACTLY! that seems like such a great opportunity taken. however with the past cuts from Laufey im worried theres gonna be some compression thats out of control like everything i know about love was
I always turn to Grateful Dead albums on Record Store Day, but I also enjoy browsing through the stores' discounted old RSD stock to see if I can find any other hidden gems at more affordable prices.
The Monkees one is actually a repress of the mono mix, which is actually pretty hard to find and pretty expensive. But you're right, the regular version is really easy to find.
It's definitely an exciting list! I don't normally go, but I might this year! Another UA-camr mentioned that the Linda Ronstadt box set should just be an empty box so you can fill it with those cheap records rather than including them and clogging up the plants. Have to agree with that sentiment and yours.
These are all the albums that interested me upon first look. This will change by April 20th. Asking Alexandria - Reckless & Relentless At The Drive In - in/Casino/Out Collective Soul - Dosage Cranberries - Bury The Hatchet Dead By Sunrise - Out of Ashes The Dead Milkman - Bucky Fellini Death Cab For Cutie - Live at the Showbox The Hives - Black & White Album Hoveriii - Quest for Blood Malfunkshun - Olympus Awaits Militarie Gun - Life Under The Sun The Paper Kites - Evergreen Pearl Jam - Dark Matter Paramore - This is Why Remixes Pixies - Live From Red Rocks Sponge - Planet Girls Team Sleep - Team Sleep Unwritten Law - Blue Room
Man, if one is a fan of rather hard to get 90s and 00s albums I cant imagine not being excited about this list. Team Sleep? You betcha. There is always filler bin that wont sell. Hate that for businesses, sucks. I would say though that The Monkees title is actually a good choice, its mono. Not at all easy to find clean. Monkees og’s in general are beat to heck. Of course if ones not a fan. I like em Thanks for taking the time to review the list!
There's a whole bunch of records that I want from the UK list. The Cramps EP Ultra Twist on 12", The Cranberries Bury The Hatchet, The Daft Punk single, Jessie Ware's tough Love 10th anniversary, Lordi's Bend Over and Pray the Lord, Prefab Sprout's 12" of Lions In My Garden, Sisters of Mercy's first two eps combined as one LP, Steven Wilson's Harmonic Divergence (Love Wilson will always get their RSD releases) and there's a compilations I might grab called The Bristol Roots Explosion that documents the West Country's take on roots reggae from the second half of the 1970s until the end of the 1980s. There's also a shaped 12" vinyl from one of my favourite bands HIM, Bury Me Deep Inside Your Heart/ Poison Girl (Strongroom Sessions) it looks like it'll only be available in America, anyone fancy grabbing me a copy? 😅
Another interesting release is Fools Garden - Lemon tree EP on a shaped lemon picture disc. Limited to 900 copies and hopefully this will lead into dish of the day being released on vinyl for the first time now that bmg owns the rights to their older albums
Tracklist for Lemon Tree Picture Disc EP. Rough Trade lists it for 29.99 GBP which is around $38. I do think it will go for a lot more on the secondary market due to the rarity and the novelty factor. A1. Lemon Tree A2. Probably B1. Suzy B2. Outta Love
The one I’m really stoked about is Gandalf. A 60’s psychedelic rock group that not a lot of people have heard of. Their one self titled album is a beautiful listen. Hope to get a copy of it.
Collective Soul - Dosage is a big one for me. Also the De La Soul and Public Enemy live records are on my radar. Totally agree....we do NOT need more picture disks! None....zip, zilch, zero.....no desire to have one.
As a huge Oh Wonder fan i'm so stoked for their Self Titled repress. I have the limited edition white vinyl that came out in 2014-2015 so i _technically_ don't need it but will 100% buy it. Oh Wonder imo is so underrated. Their first album especially is so soothing and well mastered for it just being a duo in their bedroom.
Thank you for sharing your input. Yes the Taylor Swift fans might still go to RSD but will be looking for her new release that was released on the 19th of April 2024 one day prior to RSD .
I'm excited for the Militarie Gun release. Cool to see them in the list. I'm surprised to see so many bands/releases I'm interested in because every other time, there's been maybe one or two that I was interested in so I didn't bother. This time there's easily half a dozen that at least caught my eye.
The Fleetwood Mac picture would have been cool with an alternative pic - I bet there are many pics from that iconic photoshoot and an alternative outtake from it would have been really cool!
I’m devastated I really want the new pressing of the balcony by catfish and the Bottlemen especially as it’s got three new songs and I love all their unreleased stuff but I live in the US and it’s only out in the UK so I don’t know how I’m going to get my hands on it 😢
Thanks for the tips! And yes I agree about picture discs and zoetrope. I buy vinyl for the big analog sound and these never sound good... Bill Evans, Chris Isaak, and At the Drive In are the albums that will make me get in line early...
It’s great that we are getting 1990’s rock. I was a teenager in the 1990’s. Linda Ronstadt’s records and Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumors” are very common. We also have too many live albums.
The only think really catching my eye is the 10th Anniversay of Piñata (presumably on color) by Freddie Gibbs and Madlib, and A Night at the Symphony by Lauffey. Psyche France could be a dark horse though
I have 4 records that I want and I'm sooooo happy I will get them all in Germany. Usually I have to import which is annoying. Can't wait for this years RSD (plus I work in a record store so I'm gonna celebrate one way or another anyway lol)
@@TooManyRecords The Hives, Young Thug, Daft Punk and Ladytron. There's also a repress of the 2nd Jessie Ware album in Europe and Young Fathers "DEAD" on 2LP in a deluxe gatefold - exactly what that project deserves. But now I'm gonna go through your recommendations from this video. Always some great things in there! 👀💕 It's gonna be an expensive one but I wouldn't wanna have it any other day. Really great list this year!
Del Amitri "Roll to Me" album called "Twisted" is being reissued on March 22, 2024. UK only, pre-order available from Townsend music and other UK retailers. not sure if you were being sarcastic about that record or really like it...just thought I would mention it, just in case. I love Del Amitri so wanted to pass it on...
At the drive-in is the main one I’m hoping to grab a copy of. I did see that collective soul dosage on the list as well. Alright record store day lets keep it going like this. Repress Robyn’s Body Talk on the next RSD while you’re at it. Maybe some Marcy playground & Better than Ezra. Oh and…
Matt you definitely hit most of the highlights for me. For RSD releases in the “bad” category, I will add, why do we need another pressing of Freddie Gibbs and Madlibs Piñata? Isn’t this like the 5th RSD release of that album? Great album, but still. Seems like there’s regularly a special repressing of it on RSD.
Okay! This is a list!! Collective Soul-Dosage (FINALLY!) John Craigie-Let It Be Lonely: these releases have been some of the best from the last few RSDs GBI 7”- Dave Grohl and Anthrax; how can that be bad? 10,000 Maniacs- I’m interested … Parliament! Dwight Yoakam box set Beatles stuff: Ed Sullivan stuff will be cool but overpriced Honorable mentions Offspring-Splinter Tesla Covers Black Sabbath box(?) Sponge Planet Girls South Park 25th Anniversary And many more! I’m going to be poor…😅
On Record Store Day, check out “The Bodysnatchers” EP on RidingEasy Records. Remastered from the band’s 1978 release. Austin’s first recorded punk band. Great songs, powerful sound. Recorded and mixed live to 2tk analog tape at Pecan St. Studios.
The Tom Verlaine boxset is a must for me. His first four solo albums that have been oop for like forty years. Also The Offspring - Splinter holds huge nostalgia for me even though it's when I started to lost interest in them. Gotta get those, ATDI is the big one, Team Sleep, HORSE the Band, Jeffrey. It's a good RSD.
The first time in a while I might actually buy something on RSD. Definitely want to get The Hives, Paper Kites & Paramore. Possibly the Jeff Buckley & Gary Lucas one too. I saw Oh Wonder’s debut & wondered why it was there. Turns out it’s really hard to get. I got a signed copy when it was first released & had no idea it’s now valuable 😂
Team Sleep, ATDI, and the Hives are easily my most wanted. I was at the South Park concert and that is absolutely essential - I even have the limited edition poster that matches the cover. I am an insane fan of The Cure, as you know, and as much as the picture discs have pissed me off they have done so many of them now I would be mad if they didn’t do the last couple. The Top also has the best art and I have it tattooed in my arm so I personally need it. After over a dozen of these releases if a record store is silly enough to order to many of them- that is just poor planning by them. I am glad the band was smart and decide to release a regular version of their ultra rare album , Paris, next month. My least favorites are the multitude of jazz reissues. The UK list, as usual, is better than the US but I love this year’s list in general. Pretty cool that Pearl Jam is starting their tour in Portland, no?
I’m most excited for the South Park 25th anniv. concert pressing and the Remi Wolf Live at Electric Lady. Might also grab that 10th anniv. Piñata and/or Jeffrey
The Aquabats are releasing for the first time on vinyl The Return of the Aquabats and The Floating Eye of Death. I know they have a small following but it’s fun to them in the lineup for RSD
I agree with you, that it is a very good list this year. However, (as usual) we have very different taste in music, and I will not be looking for any of the titles you want. Well, maybe Daft Punk... The most interesting titles for me (both US and UK lists): US List David Bowie ”Waiting In The Sky” Jeff Buckley & Gary Lucas “Songs To No One” Bill Evans “Everybody Digs Bill Evans” Astrud Gilberto “That Girl From Ipanema” Horace Andy & Sly & Robbie ”Livin It Up” DJ Koco “Brazil 45 Vol. 5” Neil Young & Crazy Horse “Fuckin’ Up” RSD 2024 UK LIST Azymuth “Jazz Carnival” 12” The Fall “Country On The Click” Larry Head “Rebirth 10” Michael Gray “The Weekend” 7” Ólafur Arnalds “And They Have Escaped The Weight Of Darkness” Pulp “Intro: The Gift Recordings” Travis Biggs “Solar Fire” Gilles Peterson “Timeless Jazz Classics” The Village Choir “Along The Beach/Sweet Hot Lips” 7”
I'm always hoping for RSD to have at least one thing that's already on my want list, but it's been a while since that happened. But of course now there's a few things I want and one "must have" now that they'll exist. I'll definitely have to get the Death Cab one. Maybe the South Park one if I can justify it. I also might have to take another listen to that Duncan Sheik album.
Hell yeah. The South Park 3 LP Set with stoned Towlie on the cover is worth the price of admission alone. That and the Didjits 2 LP set. Oh yeah. Felt all the rest is kind of lame though.
Two Malfunkshun songs are featured on the Deep Six compilation that C/Z Records released in '86. I found a copy at a KHSU record sale years ago. If I told you how much I paid for it, you'd hate me. (Hint: it was less than a buck.) EDIT: Totally agree with you on the bloat. It's getting so bad that by 2025, they'll be a deluxe gatefold picture disc box set of "Sing Along With Mitch." One record that could and should receive a vinyl reissue is Cornershop's "When I Was Born For The Seventh Time." It hasn't been repressed since its initial relesse in '97, and it's a fecking classic!
Filter and Team Sleep are interesting, but I don’t need them. I think my taste might be so narrow that even a good RSD list is a miss for me. I only have a few RSD releases in my collection - Daft Punk’s TRON LEGACY, Ravi Shankar’s 1972 concert, and Claypool Lennon Delerium’s MONOLITH OF PHOBOS.
It’s a good list, that’s likely going to be an expensive one for me. Couple that you didn’t bring up that I’m excited about, especially in regards to 90’s albums finally getting released on vinyl are… Collective Soul : Dosage - Glad to see they are continuing on in getting the band’s catalog out on vinyl, and this is one a lot of fans have been waiting for. Duncan Sheik : Self-titled - This is a great, underrated debut that’s also long overdue on vinyl I was also happy to see Tinted Windows, as it’s never been on vinyl before. I’m also going to shoot for picking up the Pearl Jam album on the exclusive color vinyl. The Ten Club Red colored looks nice, but this way I can also save myself $13.70 on outrageous shipping charges, which was bad enough with them already charging $45 for a single album. Now, for some notes on a couple titles you questioned being released, that may put them in a different light for you… Cheech & Chong : Up In Smoke - If you hadn’t realized it, this year’s RSD event falls on 4/20, the absolute perfect timing date for a pot related release. What could be better than the soundtrack to one of the ultimate stoner movies of all time? The fact that it’s also on marbled Green “weed” colored vinyl is additionally a nice touch. I’ll definitely be picking this up, as it’s also likely to not be that expensive. The Monkees : The Birds, The Bees & The Monkees - I think you might have missed that this is a Mono version of the album which is being released. Unlike their albums which preceded it, original Mono pressings of this album were not mass produced, and are extremely rare to come by. This makes them much sought after, and also expensive. The only other time the album has been re-issued in Mono was part of a Box Set of their first five albums (all in Mono), and that’s been out of print for almost a decade now. So this is geared to the folks who want it in Mono on vinyl, but can’t otherwise find it. That said, I agree with your points about the (seemingly) needless stuff being made that’s just taking up pressing plant time and space. And yes, for the love of god, could we just stop with all the damn picture discs.
I'm excited about this year's list. With Malfunkshun, TAD, Mudhoney, Screaming Trees, Dave Grohl, and Pearl Jam, along with Sonic Youth, Neil Young, The Meat Puppets, The Replacements, Captain Beefheart, and The Stooges all releasing stuff this year is a feast for Grunge fans. I'm stoked for the Jucifer album. It's never been on vinyl and it's a big favorite. It sounds like The Breeders meets The Melvins. I hope an RSD release will turn more people on to them. Speaking of stuff that deserves more fans: if you like The Hives give The Didjits a listen. They're putting out a best of. If you like the first few Black Keys albums try the North Mississippi Allstars release. The only thing I can say about the Cheech And Chong album is that while it is easy to find, finding one with the giant rolling paper intact isn't that easy, assuming they're going to do that for this pressing. ...and of course RSD this year is on 4/20 so know they had to do something pot related. The owner of the record store I work at asked a contact at Warner why The Cure keep doing picture discs. Apparently the reason is that Robert Smith personally collects them and wants all The Cure's albums on picture disc. I'm not going to buy them but if Robert Smith wants The Cure's albums on picture disc I'm not going to tell him he can't have them. They put them all out later on a standard pressing anyway.
@@TooManyRecords ah, you're right. It was Big Bamboo. I'm just trying to see the glass half full. Obviously they're trying to cash in on stoners for 4/20. Pretty good chance that market isn't going to think it through and buy the record anyway.
@@TooManyRecords one more lessor known one for people to check out: Bare Jr - Boo-Tay is worth hearing for fans of stuff like early Wilco, Drive-By Truckers, and Lucero. The band's leader and namesake Bobby Bare Jr is currently in Guided By Voices so their fans might also want to give it a shot.
Glad some people are finding stuff to be excited about. This year's list is a total miss for me. This'll be the first time I completely skip RSD in years.
Wow! I really think there's something for everyone on this list, so that's a shock to me.
Felt the same. Not much there that really blew me away outside of the JGB.
Possibly Talking Heads, Roger Waters or Hawkwind from the UK list, but I'm the same. Nothing is a "must have" in the list.
I agree, I think I saw one or two things. But they weren’t good enough for me to remember and getting excited about LOL
The Monkees album is actually a mono pressing which the "true mono mix" is the rarest monkees album ever and sells for hundreds to over $1000 sometimes on the rare chances it shows up. It sounds great and is actually one of the most exciting pressings for Monkees nerds like myself.
Really stoked for the TAD pressing of Infrared Riding Hood! Super underrated body of work for TAD at such a rough time in their career!
Collective Soul - Dosage was also a HUGE one.
The RSD yellow and black ghostly variant of PJ's Dark Matter looks nice!
Stoked to see Laufey - A Night At The Symphony
EXACTLY! that seems like such a great opportunity taken. however with the past cuts from Laufey im worried theres gonna be some compression thats out of control like everything i know about love was
Best list in years?? What are you on, I’d like some.
Please share whatever list in the past 3 years that has been better.
Ok, each of the past three years.
I’m super stoked for the Offspring Splinter repress!

If you’re interested, that Fleet Foxes concert was filmed and it’s on UA-cam. Loved it. Definitely putting this album on my list.
The Monkees one is actually a repress of the mono mix, which is actually pretty hard to find and pretty expensive. But you're right, the regular version is really easy to find.
I’m really excited about Fields of the Nephilim
It's definitely an exciting list! I don't normally go, but I might this year!

Snarky Puppy will be on my list!
I am looking forward to The Birds, the bees and the Monkees! It's the rare mono mix!! Hotcha!
I saw they’ve got Everybody Digs Bill Evans, Slum Village, and the 10-year anniversary Piñata record which is exciting!
What happend about Siouxsie Nocturne and Morrissey interlude?
my list this year:
Laufey - A Night At The Symphony
The Weeknd - Live at sofi stadium
Remi Wolf - Live at electric lady
Been waiting for that Tinted Windows, super excited when I see that on the this afternoon! I do agree we need more 90’s records.
Im stoked for Gandalf, Bucky Fellini and Parliament!
These are all the albums that interested me upon first look. This will change by April 20th.
Asking Alexandria - Reckless & Relentless
At The Drive In - in/Casino/Out
Collective Soul - Dosage
Cranberries - Bury The Hatchet
Dead By Sunrise - Out of Ashes
The Dead Milkman - Bucky Fellini
Death Cab For Cutie - Live at the Showbox
The Hives - Black & White Album
Hoveriii - Quest for Blood
Malfunkshun - Olympus Awaits
Militarie Gun - Life Under The Sun

Team Sleep - Team Sleep
Unwritten Law - Blue Room
Man, if one is a fan of rather hard to get 90s and 00s albums I cant imagine not being excited about this list. Team Sleep? You betcha.
There is always filler bin that wont sell. Hate that for businesses, sucks.
I would say though that The Monkees title is actually a good choice, its mono. Not at all easy to find clean. Monkees og’s in general are beat to heck. Of course if ones not a fan. I like em
Thanks for taking the time to review the list!

Would have loved to get a copy of Big Lizard, but Bucky Felini will do.
It’d be a lot cooler if I wasn’t flying out of town the night before
I’m most excited for the South Park 25th anniv. concert pressing and the Remi Wolf Live at Electric Lady. Might also grab that 10th anniv. Piñata and/or Jeffrey
I own 2 First Press copies of Dead By Sunrise, and I’ll definitely be buying the reissue 😂🍻
Title of Record is terrific. I'd snap that up in a heart beat if it had a repressing.
Someone in a comment below said it did just get one?
oh, I'll go check! Cheers. @@TooManyRecords
Looking around, it looks like Craft Recordings did a pressing in 2019. It's available on Discogs, but not brand new in stores :( .@@TooManyRecords
The Aquabats are releasing for the first time on vinyl The Return of the Aquabats and The Floating Eye of Death. I know they have a small following but it’s fun to them in the lineup for RSD
THE WEEKND - LIVE AT SOFI! 🙌😍
I agree with you, that it is a very good list this year. However, (as usual) we have very different taste in music, and I will not be looking for any of the titles you want. Well, maybe Daft Punk...
The most interesting titles for me (both US and UK lists):
US List
David Bowie ”Waiting In The Sky”
Jeff Buckley & Gary Lucas “Songs To No One”
Bill Evans “Everybody Digs Bill Evans”
Astrud Gilberto “That Girl From Ipanema”
Horace Andy & Sly & Robbie ”Livin It Up”
DJ Koco “Brazil 45 Vol. 5”
Neil Young & Crazy Horse “Fuckin’ Up”
RSD 2024 UK LIST
Azymuth “Jazz Carnival” 12”
The Fall “Country On The Click”
Larry Head “Rebirth 10”
Michael Gray “The Weekend” 7”
Ólafur Arnalds “And They Have Escaped The Weight Of Darkness”
Pulp “Intro: The Gift Recordings”
Travis Biggs “Solar Fire”
Gilles Peterson “Timeless Jazz Classics”
The Village Choir “Along The Beach/Sweet Hot Lips” 7”
Ngl. I'm excited for thugger & Fleetwood. 😂
I love Mother Love Bone but can't get into Malfunkshun. I am most excited for the Amorphis
There's nothing for me this year. Glad some people are excited about the list.
I said the same thing when I saw it
Two Malfunkshun songs are featured on the Deep Six compilation that C/Z Records released in '86. I found a copy at a KHSU record sale years ago. If I told you how much I paid for it, you'd hate me. (Hint: it was less than a buck.)
EDIT: Totally agree with you on the bloat. It's getting so bad that by 2025, they'll be a deluxe gatefold picture disc box set of "Sing Along With Mitch."
One record that could and should receive a vinyl reissue is Cornershop's "When I Was Born For The Seventh Time." It hasn't been repressed since its initial relesse in '97, and it's a fecking classic!
Still trying to find the proper colorway to describe that RSD PJ release - peuce?
Noah Kahan is going to be a first release as there is a listing on his site for a standard black variant but it is listed as out of stock.
Could the most egregious ones in your opinion at least be 180g vinyl?
Wallows nothing happens was suprising to see. ashnikko as well
Likely be skipping this one and hoping next year (or Black Friday) is good.
I want the dead by sunrise
Anyone stoked to pick up Horse the Band?
Filter and Team Sleep are interesting, but I don’t need them. I think my taste might be so narrow that even a good RSD list is a miss for me.
I only have a few RSD releases in my collection - Daft Punk’s TRON LEGACY, Ravi Shankar’s 1972 concert, and Claypool Lennon Delerium’s MONOLITH OF PHOBOS.
I spy a signed Benny!
It’s a good list, that’s likely going to be an expensive one for me.
Couple that you didn’t bring up that I’m excited about, especially in regards to 90’s albums finally getting released on vinyl are…
Collective Soul : Dosage - Glad to see they are continuing on in getting the band’s catalog out on vinyl, and this is one a lot of fans have been waiting for.
Duncan Sheik : Self-titled - This is a great, underrated debut that’s also long overdue on vinyl
I was also happy to see Tinted Windows, as it’s never been on vinyl before. I’m also going to shoot for picking up the Pearl Jam album on the exclusive color vinyl. The Ten Club Red colored looks nice, but this way I can also save myself $13.70 on outrageous shipping charges, which was bad enough with them already charging $45 for a single album.
Now, for some notes on a couple titles you questioned being released, that may put them in a different light for you…
Cheech & Chong : Up In Smoke - If you hadn’t realized it, this year’s RSD event falls on 4/20, the absolute perfect timing date for a pot related release.
Sponge #- new pop Sunday
I think you missed the point of the Cheech & Chong release. RSD is on 420, and it's on smoky green vinyl, of course I'm buying that!
I’m pretty sure the rolling paper record is a different release and we get so many of those in that have it.
After reading the description of the Joe Pesci album I may have to pull the trigger
