I might not be the only one recommending that, but do give Team Fabulous 2 a shot. It's basically every TF2's pilgrimage to watch this animation at this point. The original creator, Kitty0706, had passed away in 2015 from leukemia, an absolute legend of old-school Garry's Mod animation.
May he rest in piece, I may not know him but he must've been a good animator

The End of The Line turned out bigger than the creators expected, and it became a trailer for an entire The End of The Line Community-Created UPDATE (2014).
Also, pootis is a shortened version of the Heavy's voice command "Put dispenser here" (asking an engineer to place a dispenser, whether one is present or not). A very large part of TF2's culture is a "friendly" playstyle players adopt spontaneously or devotedly. A friendly will not kill enemy(friendlies) and the friendly will proceed to try and create the funniest situation possible using any tools given: killing players exclusively using taunts that deal fatal damage if they land; or instantly killing oneself using a keybind in order to give the enemy you killed a killcam of you faceplanting the nearest wall; or moving exclusively via crouching around with their melee weapon out.
A Heavy doing that last one in particular and spamming "POOTISpenser here" is very common.

So, fun fact, End of the Line was supposed to originally have voicelines done by people big in the TF2 community, including Jerma and Markipliar but it was cut for whatever reason.
Valve ended up liking the finished product so much that they made it official and gave the community a bunch of in-game cosmetics from the short.
Also, the rubber ducks is an in-joke. Basically, every halloween, TF2 has an event where they face off against Merasmus, an evil wizard who is also Soldier's roommate. One of the many random effects Merasmus has is "Bonus ducks", where he literally makes it rain ducks. Bonus Ducks is kind of a meme in TF2 even now.

End of the Line was originally created as a fan animation, but Valve liked it so much that they let the team behind the SFM create their own community update, although the update had a number of troubles, and was largely forgotten about.
No. The _End of the Line_ short film by McVee's team of over a dozen animators, item modellers and composers, and its accompanying in-game map cp_snowplow created by the TF2MapsNet community, were both commissioned by Valve from the beginning. Valve even offered them access to the official TF2 voice actors for the film, according to McVee's blog post, but the film team had already written and planned the film without dialogue, and adding in voicelines afterwards would have meant to cut parts of the music composed for the film or change the scenes' pacing, so they decided against it.
McVee is a professional animals who has worked for movie studios. _End of the Line_ was never just a random little fan film that Valve picked up. Valve paid for it, and the map was worked on and playtested for nearly a year. I helped playtest it from its first open Alpha.
The Winglet has made a bunch of videos like this, he sort of has his own cinematic universe with 4-5 i believe SFMs of a main story and a bunch of spinoffs. Till death do us part 1&2 is the most emotional stuff tf2 related I've seen, and The most fashionable faction in tf2 is the best tf2 song

"Pootis" is a meme in the TF2 community. It's actually the first two syllables of Heavy's line where he asks for a dispencer to be placed, in which he says "Put dispencer here!", but because of how he says it, it sounds more like "Pootis", and it's become a staple of Heavy's personality for fans since.
And people love spamming that callout in-game (i.e. "Pootis pootis pootis pootis"); punch 3 keys per "pootis".
Basically to clarify

Pigeon carrying the bomb is the actual payload ingame,which you have to push to get to the end

There are voicelines every character can use ingame to communicate with their team. One of which is "Put a dispenser here!", telling the engineer of the team where to place his dispenser.
If the heavy uses it however, he says: "Put dispenser here!" in a russian accent and the first part of the sentence sounds like he says Pootis.

the flying doves with the bomb ACTUALLY appears in the game, its only a reference in the background and doesn't change gameplay but its referenced in the EOTL map.
after this released, a full on update for TF2 was released giving players items and weapons inspired by EOTL, mainly cosemetics.
You should check out Lazy purple's How it feels to play series, start with the Spy video. Its fairly humorous, shows off how the classes play in game, and sometimes shows alternate weapons like the Direct Hit aka "scout begone" rocket launcher from his soldier video.
This is very similar to the payload mode, but it's not it, in payload, the players only push a small bomb cart. Also the game has cosmetics, that's why the blu soldier looks different

See what makes this hit close to home for a lot of the TF2 community is this came out at the 10 year anniversary for TF2 and in the comics we learn just how close the Heavy and Medic actually are as friends. They're not lovers, however the lengths these two characters will go to to save each other is incredible and the community has watched them bond over the years.
Its also knowing what kind of characters they are too, seeing the medics look of defeat hits harder because he genuinely thought the only person he cared about in the entire world was dead.
The reason he looked so defeated in this video is because he didn't want the heavy to do that, he knew it could work but it would be suicidal. He also knew the heavy is a gentle giant and would do it, so he acted cold and distant too

Man, I've been loving these TF2 reactions of SFM's and including the Meet the Team series as well, you've earned a sub for me for how much fun it is to watch your content with your enthusiastic reactions which reminds me of when I've first saw these SFM videos when I was a very young kid in school and would always play TF2 with friends I've made online. I really love your TF2 reactions as they provide me the joy of TF2 in which I haven't played the game in years because of my PC being downgraded so I would have to watch videos about it to give me somewhat a fulfilling experience to fill up my void I have of playing TF2. I know this has been recommended already but I'd highly suggest watching SFM videos from The Winglet, he has made a very unique cinematic-episodic series which is really something remarkable, also an old TF2 classic video that isn't SFM but more of an old-school Gmod type of animation is "Team Fabulous 2" by the creator named "Kitty0706", he was one of the pinnacle animators of TF2 and is loved by the community and unfortunately in 2015 he had passed away from leukemia. During some time in 2020, the TF2 community banded together and created an animated version called "Team Fabulous 2 Reanimated" to honor the great legend Kitty0706 and to also bring awareness to leukemia. It consisted of over 100 great animators and artists that've worked together to recreate this masterpiece which has been iconic to the TF2 fandom.
Yet again, I'm grateful to see this great game still being brought to light by newcomers who found a new love in TF2 and can enjoy this great game and community in which it reminds me of my younger self who first discovered this game, thanks again for your videos and I'll be sure to tune in for the next one. :)

The plan with the doves carrying a bomb was BLU Pyro's plan, which at the start of the film got rejected by BLU Soldier in favour of the train full of bombs. You can see the various hand-drawn plans on the table, and the one with the doves is in crayons.
When you play the in-game map cp_Snowplow you can actually see the flying bomb and the doves in the map's skybox as they slowly make their way towards RED base. There are also several hidden Yeti cardboard cutouts and other little Easter Eggs hidden "off-map" in the landscape beyond the battlespace, and in the skybox.
did you know that in a payload map, you can find the birds carrying the bomb out of bounds showing how popular this was
In end of the line video were heavy was on the tracks. He was being the king piece just to protect his soldiers as the pieces when he was playing with medic before when he putted the king piece in front even tho its not suppose to played like that. But he did it to save the other animals/kids just for them to live.

Fun fact: the bomb carried by doves can be found in game on the map (i forget which) that the end of the line update released with. It appears in the distance being pulled by a flock of doves
in the scene where heavy was going to stop the train, heavy was not counting on the medic to help. also the uber charge makes you invincible, not stronger. so heavy tanked that train with his pure level of strength

Loving these reactions, and very much looking forward to the Overwatch vs TF2 one, that's one of my favorite fan aninations ever! All of Winglet's stuff is seriously top-tier. If you wanted more official content, the Jungle Inferno video is like a little short, and I think the Mann vs Machine promo video is, too iirc. Definitely recommend!
Also, yes, in the End Of The Line maps the payload is kinda that train, but actually if you remember the bomb they used in Expiration Date THAT is the actual payload bomb cart on almost every other map.
So what I think might be relevant for you would be to watch the “How it feels to play ” series of UA-cam videos which are a series of analysis videos on how it feels to play those classes in a hilarious way but also going into depth on their strengths and weaknesses. It doesn’t focus on the actual mechanics but rather the feel of the class.
I got two recommendations that you can check out! The first is the Jungle Fury animation which was the latest official animation made a few years. My second recommendation would probably be the TF2 Lore in 15 minutes which recaps the official comics if your interested in the general lore of the game. But up to you to decide in all honesty. Glad your enjoying the videos and excited to see you try out the game.

heavy's "put dispenser here!" interrupted = "pootis"
common version is "pootis pow", using the dispenser voice command in combination with the stock Melee's taunt (you saw it in meet the soldier right before the rocket hit the blue heavy).
Blue Pyro got saved by the universe. He doesn't deserve to get caught up in his team's schemes.
In the game there are cosmetics that change the apperance of the characters, there ate 3 slots for different hats beards glases cloth and pets fro a few, I think those are all the types, but yeah that is why the soldier had a beard and the pyros has different looks the blu one was with a knitted face mask and the other had floatis.
The reason that chat keeps saying "Pootis" is that if Heavy uses the "dispenser here" voice command, he says "Put dispenser here" and when he says "Put dispenser" it sounds like he's saying "Pootis," and if you combined them, it'd say "Pootis spenser here."

yeah what they said, TF2 still has a bit of that turn-of-the-century Old School in it, they didn't have the tech for a *contextual* ping system back in '07 so instead you can use spare keys to pull up a 3-menu-deep list of tactical callouts voiced by whatever character you're using at the moment, so for example you can call out to push now, or to move to defend, or call out for engineer to put a dispenser at your position, and that last one with Heavy's thick russian accent "Put dispenser here!" comes out as "Pootispenser heeere!" and then when you spam that it's "pootis-- pootis-- pootis-- pootis--" and that became a whole thing.

Another creator to look up would be Crash Maul. Granted they only have 4 SFM animations, but they're high quality and are all interconnected with each other in an overarching story. In order: "Rise of the Epic Scout", "Meet the Rabid Heavy Taming Engineer", "The Battle for Sawmill", and "Like White on Spy".
Not sure if you've heard but there is a fan made rap for TF2 called the most fashionable faction! I would also recommend any of the Halloween shorts~

Another thing worth checking out is Uncle Dane's TF2 mix tapes? He's a TF2 Engineer Main youtuber and he does covers of songs but changes the words to fit TF2. They're pretty funny... But now that I think about it more it might not be as funny to you since you haven't played the game yet. So a lot of the nuanced humor wouldn't land.
