I like Bradford's motivation, but the fact he keeps picking agents who are far more chaotic than Scrooge (Black Heron, for how skilled she is, indulges in being a bad guy, Steelbeak and Taurus Bulba caused large scale catastrophes) shows that he is FAR from right

Seeing this episode made me realise that Bradford and Huey are being presented as parallels. They both are bad at dealing with chaos and the unexpected. Huey wants to create plans to every chaotic situation and Bradford wants to shutdown chaos all together.

      Great observation.
It get’s even better in the finale when we find out that the First Rule of the JW Guidebook is ”Expect the unexpected.”
With both Huey and Bradford being old JW members.
Now, in the first episode of the season, Huey has to comes to terms with the fact that he is not the ideal JW he thought he was. And he has yet to grasp the first rule. He *tries* to expect the unexpected, with all his scheduling and planning. But when it fails, he panics. He can’t plan for the unexpected because it’s, well, unexpected. He needs to learn to take things as they come. Roll and adapt. Expect that things he can’t expect will happen.
Bradford takes it even further. His failure to grasp the first rule being another reason why he’s the worst JW ever. Not wanting or able to adapt he instead wants to prevent the unexpected from ever happening. With No alarms, no surprises. The dull acountant taken to it’s villainous conclusion.

The origins of F.O.W.L. in the reboot are very interesting, and Bradford's perspective on things is kinda complicated since he thinks that Scrooge is the bad guy and that he wants to protect the world from the dangers caused by the McDuck family and all that.

Really, Bradford isn't a bad guy at all, rather he suffers from the classic assumption that most governments suffer from nowadays, the idea that chaos is a bad thing. Plot twist, chaos isn't bad at all, in reality, it's a lack of adaptability to the coming chaos that ensures disasters happening and even getting worse.
Bradford's character is filled with inadaptability through his complete refusal of things around him and about him. He refused to listen to his grandmother, he refused to grow and he refused to accept which side he was really on in this battle. Even if he was committing these actions for a good cause it doesn't change the fact that he was willing to side with blatant villains to get his mission complete.

Seeing Donald, Della and Scrooge bond on their first Adventure was so precious to me 🥰💗💖
Also am I the only person who kinda feels that Bradford is a punk for thinking that his organization has nothing to do with super villainy and he is not a bad guy 😑
I mean sure stopping other villains from causing destruction may sound OK, but like you sayed it's almost like supporting dictatorship among citizens which is bad and hiring other criminals and con-artist, plus wiping out your boss and his family.
Also watching this episode makes me understand that Bradford is such a coward when it comes to the Mcducks or fighting his enemies. Like you sayed he spends half the episode freaking over the papyrus only to then use it after Scrooge sees him

For example, Magica De Spell has always liked to attack villages before they even met Scrooge

Braford actually raised another good question for life...random crime vs organized crime.
Heck,in the case of the yakuza they are somewhat overlooked by police as long as things are quiet and peaceful. Then again, the Yakuza also are very knit into the communities and tend to balance good karma with their bad karma.

The prologue, where Bradford and Heron formed FOWL, took place in the 1960s, before Beakley and Scrooge first met.
The rest of the episode takes place in the 1990s. Donald and Della are kids, FOWL has been active for several years, Beakley is now director of SHUSH, and Black Heron has lost her arm.

According to a comic by Marco Rota called my life in an eggshell the reason Donald met Huey, Dewey and Louie was because the put a bomb under their father chair and their mother had to take care of him so they got sent to their uncle Donald. • @kabanning7741

I'm pretty sure I can take a guess at when the last flashback with young Della and Donald took place. I'm going to take a crack and say that it was probably somewhere between 1994-1996. The laptop is consistent with that era. Also, grunge fashion (such as the outfit Donald was wearing) screams 90s to me. While grunge did have its' start in the 80s. It was more iconic of the 90s. But the thing that really says it was 90s is that Donald looks like he was wearing an off brand Nirvana tee shirt with his look. The Nirvana smiley logo was debut in 1991. So that further says to me that this flashback took place in at least the 90s. The cell phone is more of a red herring. I remember my dad getting his first cell around 1995-1996 and he got a Motorola MicroTAC 9800X which was a 1989 release which was still functional at least locally in that era. It could just be that Scrooge really likes the old Motorola DynaTAC 8000X because by the time the 90s rolled around, those phones were way cheaper to get. This also speaks to some of his penny pinching ways and he might have found it easier and simpler to use. He strikes me as someone where he'd be just happy with a phone just being a phone and not something really fancy. So yeah. My guess at the year - 1994-1996.

    This may be too obvious:
I have a theory this episode revealed the ending for Ducktales, the mystery is a reality warping parchment, which only Scrooge's heir can gain access to. The reason why they need Scrooge's feather was to create an heir for him, in order to access the parchment.
If we go down that route, we could end up with a wacky reality warp episode/alternate reality finale. Marvel has done it a few times and so has DC, it would make sense if Ducktales does something similar. Have a Crisis on Infinite Earths moment with Scrooge trying to reset reality.
