Jackie Kennedy made vermeil popular back in the 1960s with the introduction of all things French. A good vermeil piece will last a lifetime but it has a different feel on the skin than high karat gold.
I've been looking at 18ct vermeil pieces and I'm thinking about going for it. Based on what you said in the video about people trying to scam customers... is this done by actual legit jewellers or is it just non-business sellers?

Loved the vid, I would buy vermeil. As this vid made it clear what's what. It also sits in between and affordable. Reason being when I wear bling, iam not trying to profile as if it's solid gold/ diamonds. If you love jewellery the middle ground is still affordable for most. I love costume jewellery bling but find I can't wear some pieces I love, due to irritating my skin. Costume jewellery at this level compliments my outfits, without the irritation . Just started buying cernucci as iam uk based. Will take a look and see what you have on offer.

Downside on them sucks on design they won't pass the straight test and after 3 weeks allways on my neck even showering. And will they barly started to tarnish. I remember I bought a gld necklace from tillys and I only paid like $200 and it was stamped 18k. The chain broke and it’s just been in the bag for some years. Think I might have to bring it back out lol

That’s why you should wear it over a shirt or under shirt not under where the gold touches your skin all the time
No solid 10kt gold will not cause any skin reaction only fake or plated jewelry

I purchased the iced out bike chain in yellow gold and it has some tarnish but I’ve had it for 2 years and wear it all the time when I’m doing physical stuff and when sweating and it’s held up pretty F,N Good! My only gripe is GLD stopped selling it because I wanted the white Gold piece.
Just ordered a plated pendant and 3mm round cut tennis chain definitely will be wearing all the time because the pendants and chain look very nice so just wondering will it hold up in the sun and in water for year's and year's

Great question!!! And I also wonder why they don't sell Vermeil items. I believe the base metal that they use is copper or brass & for that reason I can't rock with their jewelry in 2022, lifetime warranty or not. I need gold over .925 at minimum. Don't get me wrong, they make great pieces but damn give us vermeil please!! I'd cop very often if they did.

Depends on who makes it. But the real vermeil last long as hell.

I got 3 pendants from them you can use warm water and a light soap like dawn or something and I recommend a tooth brush and you should be good it won’t fade

It would hold up in vermeil but we still would usually recommend going with the solid gold because the amount the gold will cost you compared with the natural diamonds is very low. The majority of cost will be the diamonds on an engagement ring so usually we would say to go with the solid gold, however it’s always your choice ultimately

Gold plated pieces (in GLD's case) have a 14-18k gold plating over a base of surgical/stainless steel. Although they aren't solid gold and cost significantly less, they still have the same appearance and luster. You are essentially paying for significantly less gold for the same appearance, but your plating can fade and lose shine far faster than the solid gold. I own only plated and vermeil pieces from GLD none of them have faded or been anymore fragile than any solid gold pieces I have from elsewhere, it all depends on how you take care of your jewelry.
The little ball pieces you're talking about can either be prongs or stones. Prongs are what set the stones and hold them in place. When they're set right they push out the stones (Diamond, Cubic Zirconia, etc.) significantly, especially with yellow gold. They're very shiny and compliment stones very well.

I don't like America's stigma about " cheesy" gold, or " orange" gold,,,,, my 18k piece from Japan is cheesy as well as my 18 and 22k pieces from Qatar, I find in America you mostly only run across 14k pieces like the federal reserve has stolen all the 18k and up, so only in the states I hear too orange isn't good, but correct me if I'm wrong I'm not seeing alot of " too orange" 18k and up for sale...military bases have a special 23k cabinet pieces and its beautiful all cheesy pieces, I like gold to look like gold , African, Turkish gold....I'd buy the vermeil yes but it always hurts my ears as only in America they make yellow gold not the ideal look cause truthfully no one is selling it , and it's all being hoarded, good info, and like say if I find a nice vermeil piece I'd purchase, im not anti just aware
