How to Plant an Alpine Rock Garden | Why I Don’t Keep Succulents Anymore

  • Succulents are so hard to keep as houseplants due to their high light requirements. Of course there are ways to sort out stretched succulents but I’ve actually ended up not keeping many at all because of the way they tend to stretch when kept indoors. And so this led me to be interested in sedums, sempervivums, and other hardy succulents that can be kept outdoors. In this video I plant a sedum rock garden :)

Nice name for your channel!!! I have an accidental jungle too . Well . An accidental desert more like it. I’ve got grow lights and shelves all over my house, full of succulents. It raises my electric bills too . Need to sell some when I decide which to part with . I moved to Sempervivums and sedums too because I can keep them outside. My semps looked amazing til we kept getting all this rain with heat . They’re rotting left and right . Brought some indoors, then hurt my back and didn’t get them potted properly and back outside. So some are dried up with no roots left . Some fully rotted . And some are gonna need nursed back into shape for outside. My Gold Nuggets were hating the rain . Despite being in very gritty soil . And the sun was frying them before all the rains. Despite not much afternoon sun . They were under a 40% shade cloth . And the sun was off of them by 2-3pm . Thank you so much for the video! I’m gonna switch from 50% pumice/50% Coco Loco potting mix to 75% grit and 25% Coco Loco . Maybe even less Coco Loco .

Could you please tell us what the large single one, that looks like an indoor type succulent, is called (I’m sure I saw a name label). Thank you for the video & good luck with your garden x

What a lovely video. You did a great job, and I was pleased to see how you made it all look easy. I know what I can do now with my weedy, rocky side yard. Thank you.

Great video. Please make more hardy succulent videos, been looking for a hardy succulent channel for a while. All of the big ones seem to be in Mexico, Australia or Southwest USA and don't really deal with hardy species
