- The 1.18 Caves and Cliffs update part 2 has changed Minecraft forever, but there are some secrets in the new Minecraft 1.18 update that you likely didn't spot. So, here are the coolest 1.18 new features and secrets that should know about for the 1.18 Minecraft caves and cliffs version.

Fun fact: there is an achievement called caves and cliffs, which you get by falling from the build height limit to the negative build height limit, and surviving. I was making a vid abt doing the highest water bucket mlg, and found it out.

i love how they reused the old background seed for this background, it just warms my heart
There’s a mod that makes chunks generate in cubes instead of rectangular prisms. It allows you to have worlds of infinite height, and some youtuber used it to make an accurate-height Mount Everest
that's cubic chunks right? I've heard of it because in versions where the far lands generate this mod would create the sky and void far lands
The mob spawning change actually did make it into the live version.

@@pixleplays305 There were 2 changes. One made it, one was reverted. Mobs cannot spawn at block light >0. The spawn-algorithm still considers the heightmap (highest non-airblock) - that was reverted. It was for a short time the same for every highest block (based at y64 being the highestblock).
Monsters now only spawn in places where the light from blocks is 0 (sky light still prevents spawning like before) - Changelog from the webpage!

Actually, the light one was reverted in the experimental snapshots, but *did* make it into the final version of 1.18. (It's specifically mentioned in the changelog for the release) Monsters only spawn at light level 0, which makes it easier to determine where they can spawn without using F3, and saves on torches.
the light level change is actually in the final update, it was re-added back in after experimental snapshot 2.

just wanna say, the mob spawning change is still there in 1.18. They may have reverted it, but it was reverted back again before the experimental snapshots ended.

Thank goodness they decided to readd that feature for mob spawning! It really helps in lighting up big builds without having lights scattered all over the place!
7:13 I noticed that when I was playing on my survival world, and I wanted cacti (for banners) then I thought "hmm a desert shouldn't be hard to find" then I walked in a square with 5k blocks on both 4 sides and I found nothing, I even found a stronghold, then I started theorising "did they remove the desert? If it was, why?"
And to this day I am waiting for a wandering trader to give me cacti

You got 2 features wrong, the deep warm ocean now generates naturally, and the mob spawning was NOT reverted.
Nope deep warm oceans don't generate naturally. They were removed in one of the snapshots.

I think there's a misunderstanding somewhere here. It wasn't the light spawning rule that was removed, it was that mobs spawning slightly faster at the bottom of the world. They removed that rule because it removed incentive from perimeter farms.

me as a bedrock player are surprised on how many bedrock features people don't know, like the illager don't attack baby villager, we had that in YEARS!!!
They removed the rarest biome in the game! The list that showed the removed biomes said the modified jungle edge on it!

Fun fact: if you wear a leather tunic in powder snow you don’t take freezing damage
Any one piece of leather armor, so you could have a turtle shell, netherite chestplate (of course swappable interchangeable with an extra), leather pants and golden boots for a mix of everything useful. It's also the setup I'm gonna be using

So if you wanted to talk about the optimal setup, I’d say it’s still full netherite with the shell, and leather/gold boots in a shulker box or something

thats so cool that mojang used the same seed as the original background for the new update.
At first I was pissed that they made the update into two parts but now I understand they did it for a reason waiting so long for the 2nd update really was worth it

i keep finding great minecraft channels like this everyday
Ideas:
1. Sunken villages with drowned instead of villagers. Chests have a small chance to hold a trident
2. Normal bears in spruce and dark oak biomes. These bears would be bred using grass or apples
3. Very rare banner pattern using the Dragon Egg. This banner could be duplicated in a smithing table using dragon heads
4. Mossy Skeletons. This mob variety are found in swamps and/or lush caves that comes with a bow and poison arrows. When killed Mossy Skeletons would drop moss, slime balls, or even golden apples
5.! Cotton. Cotton would be located in the forest, which when punched would hurt the player. The only safe way to obtain it was to use shears or break it with a sword. Cotton could empty a layer of water in a caldron or be crafted into wool, or 9 cotton to make soft wool, for dyeble beds

In order to have warm deep sea you need underwater heat vents imagine them being miniature underwater volcanoes constantly erupting with smoke slash bubbles this generates enough heat for the surrounding area for certain species to survive on and certain types of coral that need warm water etc etc etc etc etc

1% or about 1 in 100 chance as spawn in Stronghold chests
2% or about 1 in 50 chance as spawn in Dungeon chests
Strongholds only generate under the water or Village
Dungeons only generate under Y 22.
