Jessi is the only one who could present bugs in a way that makes me interested and not just grossed out. It's like I know she's not a bug nerd, yet she displays them with the same love that she shows all the other animals. Calms my nerves
How are they gross? They are just animals.
@@infinitecanadian I don't know how they're gross. It's a visceral reaction I have to bugs. I don't understand it either, but I don't blame the bugs lol. I don't want them to disappear or anything
@@DrJuice1 They're awesome creatures.
@XmenMagnetoAcolytes They do not have to have blood and bones to live.
No doubt
My first reaction to this video is to take them to Blathers.
Cool! I don't think vinegarroons get enough coverage in the exotic animal community
Agreed
Agreed. They are super cool. We have them here in AZ and they get huge.
I didnt even know this animal existed, where are they from?
Agreed. Also, Tailless whip scorptions could do with some love.
@@matthewcreaks2147 almost everywhere warm, minus AUS. Hundreds of different species. Here in AZ we have 2, 1 being the giant vinegaroon. We would see them on our porch all the time at our rural house.
I've always been scared of arachnids, and I have a brother who LOVES them. When I was younger I decided to learn more about them to help get over my fears. Unfortunately it did not help me get over my fear (I still get the heebie-jeebies when I see a large spider), but I did learn many interesting and cool things about them!
Hey! I also keep insects and spiders, and have a UA-cam channel about them... Feel free to check it out!
i love that you acknowledged and spoke about your fear when first handling vinny! i love the reminder that it's okay to be nervous or scared of something, and that feeling uneasy doesn't mean you can't be excited to learn new things!
++
I love that you named the spider Fluffy.
me too
Fluffy is actually fluffy
@@brendaho8406 correct😍
never heard of a vinegaroon before, they’re interesting.
great video as always! ❤️
We have them in the desert of the Coachella Valley.
here’s a phrase that amused me: scorpions have grippy lips
Very cool, and I specifically love that you voiced that you were a bit worried about handling Vinnie, but did it anyway. That really shows people that they can overcome thier worries and concerns. Because these lil guys are awesome
I used to have *terrible* arachnophobia. If I saw a spider my instinct was to either run or smash it, depending on how big it was. When I was in my early 20s, I finally got sick of being scared of animals significantly smaller than me. I figured learning about them might help me get over my fear. It took about 2 years, but I finally got over my arachnophobia and I gained a new appreciation for the creatures in the process.
I had to hold a mexican redkneed tarantula when I was about seven, on a school trip. The handler was like "she's really docile, don't worry, just don't make any sudden movements or she'll shoot hairs into your eyes" and I was like WHY THANK YOU SIR I FEEL VERY CALM ABOUT THIS NOW.
Hahaha!! 😂 Probably _not_ the best intro... lol Good on you for still holding it, though!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love arachnids! I've kept tarantulas for the past 13 years and have changed people's hearts towards spiders and other "creepy crawlies". I'll get people sending me pictures asking for IDs (I have a minor in entomology) and I'm always happy to help. Some friends have even come so far from their former arachnophobia to acquire their own pet tarantulas! It's awesome to see! I love being a part of changing how people view them, and I love that I'm not the only one who does it. Thank you always for the awesome work you do!
They seem so delicate. Especially those long, thin limbs. I wish our culture changed regarding these animals so that people weren't inclined to immediately squash them every time they saw one.
They are extremely delicate, in fact in captivity people DISCOURAGE handling tarantulas because a drop from around knee height can kill them
Im bloody scared of arachnids but i never kill them, just capture them and release them elsewhere
I keep telling my husband spiders are our friends! They eat all the creepy crawlies in the house and mind their own business.
In Asia, the first instinct is to EAT them.
Love getting to learn about these less known and less popular creatures! Thanks for sharing!
Any time I hear the word “arthropod” I hear michael aranda singing “ARTHROPOOOD” to echo it in my head. That episode of the brain scoop has ingrained itself in my memory.
First time I've seen a vinegaroon. They look really cool!
I noticed Vinny doesn't have a foot on her right front (non-feeler) leg, is that something she could grow out when she molts or is it probably permanent?
I would like to know this too.
I have kept many vinagaroons in my collection and rest assured that vinnie will get her foot back after her next molt as long as she is not in her final molt now.
Jessi, in my opinion, you're a very brave young lady. I'm not a fan of spiders or scorpions. I've had both in my houses. Most spiders are tiny enough, and ultra silent, so they can sneak into clothing, bedding, couches etc without being observed and spider webs have the affect of instantaneously turning me into very old but surprisingly spry Ninja Warrior. We have a lot of brown recluse and black widows where I live now.
I applaud your calm, forced though some of it may be!
i love professor claw! i think she's so cute!
Hi Vinnie!! Be prepared for an epic life ahead!!
*Spoiler Alert* Cuteness with legs!
Thank you for sharing this incredible interaction. The fact that you are willing to show and tell us all about your reservations to the initial interactions reinforces the respect and intrigue that you bring to your relationships with your animals.
Aaaw, that's pretty sweet that you were able to just pick fluffy up like that without her freaking out. She was just like "oh okay, I guess this is happening now," which is impressive considering how poor most spiders' eyesight is! From her point of view, that hand came out of nowhere, yet she was still so calm about it!
Thank you so much for showing off the arachnids, I personally studied arthropods in school and find them interesting. I'm glad that Animal Wonders cares about all animals and isn't afraid to take on animals that some people find "creepy." These critters also deserve respect and admiration.
i looove tarantulas, they're so cute!
I just love every single animal ever lived on earth and respect it
I used to be scared of spiders, until I took a job at a place that moved a lot of plants. Even the way to work I was getting spider webs on me daily on a short walk through a wooded area and then at work spiders were everywhere. Now they're one of my favourite creatures. I'm also glad to know that I was doing things the right way when interacting with the different spiders I met there. I would usually start wearing my leather work gloves, and if they appeared calm and curious then I'd handle them gloves off to interact and then take them outside to be free.
These videos always make me feel good after a tough day.
Arachnids give me the heeby jeebies, send shivers down my spine and freak me out a bit in person. I can handle teeny tiny spiders to relocate them outside and am willing to catch a larger spider in a container to do the same but wouldn't hold one in my hand.
Tarantulas are amazing to look at and I think I could possibly be convinced to hold a calm one. But scorpions really freak me out. It is cool to see one up close through a screen though! And Vinnie is really interesting, I have never heard of vjnegaroons before!
Greetings from the Mojave Desert where all three of those guys are always with us.
I'm in the Coachella Valley and we have them here as well.
Oh man, I really like arachnids but I'd be so nervous if I had to hold one D: I'm kinda afraid of them, but I can't bring myself to hurt them, if I find a spider in my room I have to throw it out the window (or onto the staircase in front of my flat if it's cold). I hope I can overcome my fear completely one day.
I think it's very cool of you that you don't kill them! I understand how people don't like them but they are very important for our ecosystems
Very much dislike/fear arachnids in general, although understand their importance in an ecosystem.
Tarantulas seem so calm, compared to spiders I find around the house/outisde. Hope you make more videos about them!
Thanks Jessi. I was never a big fan of arachnids but watching the way you handled them..wow your brave. Great Job!
This was so cool I learned so much!!
Oh wow. I've never heard of that last one! I'm really glad you gave the arachnids their own video and are treated as well as other animals.
Jessi, your enthusiasm for animals is awesome and always apparent!
I used to be a huge arachnophobe-like I would search my bed every night to make sure there were no spiders there. But since moving to a place with lots of bigs spiders, I've learned to really love them! When I see them in my house I just let them be. If you want to read more about them I recommend the book Spiders: Learning to Love Them by Lynne Kelly OR, for a children's picture book, I'm Trying to Love Spiders by Bethany Barton.
Nice to see you are so comfortable handling these animals! Fluffy is gorgeous! I'm a big fan!
I learned something new, thank you!
Where did vinny come from? Sometimes you tell us where the animals come from. I like how they're all shades of black
Vinny looks like such a chill girl! I don’t think I had ever seen someone handle a vinegaroon, so I’m sure she’ll be an incredible ambassador animal! How long do they live??
I cannot get over how cool Vinny's lil feeling appendages are!!
Growing up in the desert southwest our backyard was constantly home to tarantulas, scorpions and vinegaroons but I still find them a little scary to look at. I didn't know that people kept scorpions and vinegaroons as pets! Love these videos because they help break down the "ick" reaction that some might have!
Wow, Great job Vinny and Jessi! ♥️
Spiders are some of my favorite animals. Great video on arachnids.
I love vinegaroons so much! Especially the ones that have little grabbers at the end of their front legs. Arachnids are just amazing.
They are all amazing and unique in their own ways!
I have mild arachnophobia, but love learning about them. I'm always glad to see videos like this that try to demystify these very normal common animals. I might not ever be able to hold one, but it's wonderful to be able to admire them from afar.
Excellent presentation. TY
Yay ! We have Mastigoproctus giganteus (the giant vineagaroon) here in southeast Texas. I love them so much.
Vinegaroons are great. The only problem with them as an educational animal is that many of them spend a good part of the year buried.
I really enjoy seeing the more unusual animals! We see a lot of the mammals, but most people avoid insects and arachnids. Like you, I tend to be nervous when I hold arachnids, but I don't let that stop me from enjoying the experience. I like that you made a point to say that you were nervous about holding Vinny. It's natural to be nervous about new things.
I love this channel!!!
Hey! I also keep insects and spiders, and have a UA-cam channel about them... Feel free to check it out!
I’m not the biggest fan of these guys... but I love this channel so much I gotta watch!
Cool! Keep it up with the very good videos!
I love your videos and love all your animals👍🙂
I really love this your the best with animals.I think that bugs are cute
Aw man, such beautiful babies
I have a 12 year old Grammostola Rosea and a year old Brachipelma Hamorii. They're fun to observe, sometimes they are fairly active!
I love your t-shirt!
You just got one more sub
A vintage Woodsy Shirt! Awsome!
Arachnids often get a bad rap, and when I was younger I would have thought the same, but now I find them incredibly fascinating!
it's real funny to me that Jessi associates on the regular with mid-tier predators, creatures that can cut down trees with their teeth, or those that have been known to kill lions, and yet with these mildly venomous and stinky lil guys everyone's like YOU'RE SO BRAVE!! I'm not mocking the power to overcome those irrational primal fears, I'm just laughing at how widespread they are that everyone can empathise with it. humans are funny xD
Humans are notorious for fearing the wrong things. We ignore things that are truly dangerous while overreacting to things that aren't. More people die from vending machines falling on them than die from shark attacks. Bats are some of the most beneficial & fascinating animals on the planet. They pollinate plants, spread seeds, and control insect pest populations. Only 3 of the 1300+ species of bats are vampires & they are all in South America. Yet people are cruel to them or kill them.
If I was alone in the woods, I'd be more afraid of encountering a strange man than encountering a bear. Humans are the only animals who kill for sport, and who intentionally cause suffering out of malice. Even domestic cats, which torture & kill millions of songbirds, baby mammals, lizards, & even endangered species, even when they aren't hungry, don't do it out of malice, knowing they are causing pain & suffering. Only humans do that. Yet, we are quick to help humans.... like those young women who helped Ted Bundy when he used fake casts or crutches to feign injuries and asked them for help.
I have never heard of a vinegaroon before! Neat!
Hey Jesse
Kyle here
I think you’re great and awesome!
Thanks for the wonderful videooooo
Big spiders like Fluffy have never scared me (I think I even held one once at a travelling animal presentation; could've been a tarantula). It's the little ones which would have me flee a room.
Wonderful animals!
I could listen to Jessi read the phone book
Absatively! Posolutely!
I love all three of them
I used to work with vinagroons and loved them.
I love crawly friends!
My dad loved spiders and scorpions. Used to watch tv with the wolf spiders on the porch. Bought crickets to feed em and the banana spiders.
Hey! I also keep insects and spiders, and have a UA-cam channel about them... Feel free to check it out!
I have an irrational fear of arachnids and opiliones, to the point that I get panic attacks from looking at photos of them, but I think they're incredibly interesting creatures. I'd love to learn more about them but I can't read books and websites on the subject because of the pictures. For some reason the big ones like tarantulas and emperor scorpions aren't as scary to me, I could watch this video without panicking :)
never really realised that scorpion claws were their equivalent of pedipalpes. I've seen tiny whipscorpions in the wild before, although I don't know if those were actual arachnids or some other kind of bug that looks like them (they're called waterscorpions I think). I didn't know such large species existed!
These three are very good girls ^^
Wonderful! 🦂🕷👍🏼
Some people are scared but I love how you named it fluffy
Fluffy, the Tarantula 😂❤️
Now I need to go what went into the naming process
I did my master degree in entomology and I’m still scared of arachnid. 6 legs, I’m good. 8 legs is nope... go figure...
Impressive. Why'd you do it?
Fluffy is such a terrific name for a tarantula
I have a rose hair! Her name is Ella and she is 10. Only a display animal though, as she has never liked handling and as long as she's happy in her house that is good enough for me. It would have been awesome for you to talk about the hair shedding! I think that adaption is super cool about tarantulas.
never saw a vinegaroon before. really cool :)
i'm a huge fan of your work
Hey! I also keep insects and spiders, and have a UA-cam channel about them... Feel free to check it out!
Fluffy looks like the spider I have. My spider's name is Jelly
I had a breeding pair of emperor scorpions. It was amazing the way the female cared for the young. Dad only got 2 before we got him out of the habitat. Such cool critters. The male was ovef 5"long. He was a big boy
I've never heard of the last one, that's cool.
Professor Claw! 😆 😍
I love arachnids!
Ooh I only heard about vinegaroon in good luck Charlie 😹😹
Thats my jam. i LOOOvee arachnids
Yay Vinny!
Would you consider making a video about arachnids' body language? :O
I think that's what scares me the most about them, bc I can't know when they're feeling threatened XD
Amazing video btw! I will definitely research more about arachnids, I had never considered doing that haha
I love tarantulas. I don't have one myself (honestly, it's their food that stops me from getting one; I can't stand the thought of crickets chirping away in my bedroom lol), but I follow some amazing Tarantula hobbyists on UA-cam.
If you are interested in learning more about aracnids, I highly recommend Tom Moran, The Dark Den, Tarantula Kat, and The Tarantula Collective (TTC). They're all informative and entertaining- infotainment. 😉 They all focus on different things- some, like Tom Moran and TTC, present great info about the animals and their care. The others still teach about their Ts and other aracnids, but focus more on sharing and spreading their love and appreciation for these fascinating creatures. I've seen many, _many_ comments saying that their videos and obvious passion have helped the commenter overcome their fear and even aracnophobia- that learning more about them made them less alien and scary.
Hope you enjoy! Cheers!
@@dorabrooks76 Oh! I will!
Thank youu
@@klia27 You're welcome! 😊
My tarantula is also called Fluffy! Seems fitting doesn't it? 😂
Amazing
Today I learned scorpions have more than two eyes. Didn't know that
They're native to the Sonoran Desert where I live, they're pretty cool. The acid they spray is very stinky. I think they glow in a black light like scorpions and tomato/tobacco hornworms.
I hope someday you show us how cool tarantulas are right after they molt
For your presentations you should consider getting an amblypygi, they look very intimidating and yet they’re completely inoffensive; please keep up with your presentations, arachnids are widely loathed despite their incredible importance being such an ancient and diverse group.
hi animal wonders
Wow, now I know what vinegaroons are from the song Spiders and Vinegaroons by Queens of the Stone Age 😅😅
Vinnie reminds me of those deep sea crabs with the suuuper long front arms lol
Had a vinegaroon come into my apartment last year. My apartment is in the forest on a mountain side on the north side of Osaka Japan. I had not known about vinegaroons till earlier last year when I saw one missing it's tail (telson) on the side of my building. At first I thought it was another of Japans giant insects. Then I looked closer at it's two segments and legs mimicking antena.
Well, later in the early fall I was sitting on my living room floor when I felt something cold walk down my leg. I reached down and it walked onto the back of my hand. When I pulled up my hand I screamed and it sprayed.
The spray smelled REALLY GOOD! Like an apple vinegar!
I don't know what ever happened to it. I am glad though to have something hunting the giant cockroaches here.
Hey! I also keep insects and spiders, and have a UA-cam channel about them... Feel free to check it out!
My older brotger has 2 pets trantulas, i have 3 scorpions, a vinegaroon and a tailess whip. I have held all of my scorpions including the vinegaroon and the tailess whip but 1 scorpion which is a desert hairy and he is to venomous for me to hold. Also im 11 yrs old. I also have a chameleon and 8 other pets
I also keep insects and spiders, and have a UA-cam channel about them... Feel free to check it out!
The channel name is A.B.S.E.
Tarantulas are the only spiders that don’t give me the creeps. I love them. Mine was named Charlotte.
Charlotte... Nice. Do remember, though, that the spider in Charlotte's Web wasn't a tarantula. :o)
